It’s been a wild week in the YSL RICO trial. While the focus was expected to be on Jeffery “Young Thug” Williams, Young Thug was hospitalized twice. The exact cause of Thug’s hospitalization remains unknown. Before that, another defendant was severed from the YSL case after being diagnosed with schizophrenia. Earlier in May, Young Thung’s younger brother was re-arrested after violating the terms of his plea deal.

Finally making it to court, Young Thug sent shockwaves through the case as he and his representatives challenged some crucial evidence in the case. Prosecutors had submitted a recording from a Ring doorbell in connection with a shooting at a house in Atlanta in March 2022. According to police officers, while investigating the shooting, they communicated with someone that they claim is Young Thug. Over a dozen shell casings were recovered from the property, with ten shots reportedly hitting the house.

Young Thug Claims It’s Not Him On The Recording

However, Young Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel is seeking to ban the record, according to AllHipHop. More specifically, Steel wants the recording ruled inadmissible unless the prosecution has a solid basis for positively identifying the voice as Young Thug. Georgia law is deep and complicated when it comes to the use of audio records in court. While it is generally admitted in court, there could be a valid argument for dismissing the evidence if can’t be proven to be the person in question. However, there is an argument to be made for allowing the evidence to be admitted to disprove it in front of a jury. Given Young Thug’s very distinct voice, that could be the way forward.

Cam’ron says that he’s going to finish working on a song for his late mother, Fredericka Giles. He revealed that he’s spending Mother’s Day in the studio working on the tribute, Sunday, on Instagram. The New York rapper explained that he’s been working on the track for three months.

“I know i make this shit look easy…but it ain’t,” Cam captioned a photo of himself with his mother as well as a teary-eyed video from the studio. “I miss my mom man.. been tryna finish this song for 3 months and I just start crying before I can finish the first verse. Ima finish this shit today tho. Love and miss you mom.”

Cam first announced that his mom passed away at the age of 67 back in February. “In 2007 my mom had a stroke leaving her partially paralyzed on her left side and a speech impediment, but if you followed her or was her friend on social media you would never know any of that,” Cam’ron wrote on social media at the time. “She was witty, funny, intelligent, sarcastic and out spoken. People would say ‘cam I know you’re writing ya moms captions’ and I wasn’t. I would see my moms captions and say ‘where are you learning this?’ (Lingo) she’s [sic] tell me ‘be easy lil homie’ lol. So I’m so sad to inform you guys of her passing.”

He continued: “I wasn’t going to share this because I’m in a lot of pain and Didn’t think it was anyones business. But thinking about it, I really wanted to thank you all for making my moms days and nights for the last decade or so. Social media was her go-to for, entertainment, news, general gossip etc. She would send me anything she thought I should know, about me or not, good or bad.”

S Club 7 have confirmed they will still be going ahead with their reunion tour this year following the death of Paul Cattermole, but without member Hannah Spearritt.

In a video posted to S Club 7’s Instagram page today (May 14), the band confirmed that they’ll be embarking on the tour as planned in October, but as a five.

They are also renaming it the ‘Good Times Tour’ in honour of their late bandmate, who sang lead vocals on the group’s song of the same name, which he planned to perform on the tour.

Back in February, the band announced their 25th anniversary UK and Ireland arena tour which was set to kick off in October. However, just two months later, Cattermole died at the age of 46.

“You’ve probably noticed that there’s only five of us here today, and although Hannah will always be part of S Club 7 she won’t be joining us on this tour,” Jon Lee said in their Instagram video, in which the members were visibly emotional. “We wish her all the best for the future. However, the five of us are really excited and geared up.”

“It’s just really sad, it’s really really hard to process it right now,” said Tina Barrett. Bradley McIntosh said that the band were still in “disbelief” about losing their “big brother”, adding: “No one could ever replace our Paul, but he lives on inside each and every one of us.”

Back in April, Spearritt paid tribute to her late bandmate and “first love” Cattermole.

“Even now, it’s still so raw, I still even now have moments that you don’t quite believe it’s real,” she said in an interview with The Sun.

The two dated for several years and ended up parting ways. In 2015, the couple rekindled their relationship for a while before splitting again.

A statement from Cattermole’s management confirmed the news back in April. It read: “We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.

In their own statement, the band wrote: “We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.

“He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time.”
