Barack Obama On Bill Russell’s Death: “We Lost A Giant”

Former President Barack Obama responded to the death of Bill Russell on Twitter, Sunday, comparing the late NBA legend to Dr. Martin Luther King and Muhammad Ali. Obama had previously honored Russell with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011, during his first term in the Oval Office.

“Today, we lost a giant. As tall as Bill Russell stood, his legacy rises far higher—both as a player and as a person,” Obama began a series of tweets about Russell.

He added: “Perhaps more than anyone else, Bill knew what it took to win and what it took to lead. On the court, he was the greatest champion in basketball history. Off of it, he was a civil rights trailblazer—marching with Dr. King and standing with Muhammad Ali.

“For decades, Bill endured insults and vandalism, but never let it stop him from speaking up for what’s right. I learned so much from the way he played, the way he coached, and the way he lived his life. Michelle and I send our love to Bill’s family, and everyone who admired him.”

Russell passed away at 88 years old on Sunday with his wife by his side, his family announced on social media. The 11-time NBA champion is widely considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He played with the Boston Celtics from 1956 to 1969. Throughout his career, he won five MVP awards and was selected to 12 All-Star teams.

Russell was also the first Black head coach in the major American sports leagues.

Patti LaBelle Says 2Pac’s “California Love” Inspired Her To Learn To Crip Walk

Patti LaBelle says that she learned how to crip walk after hearing 2Pac’s hit song, “California Love.” The legendary singer discussed 2Pac and The Notorious B.I.G. while reflecting on his relationship with hip-hop more broadly, during her recent appearance on Drink Champs.

When asked for her earliest memories of listening to hip-hop, she called back to 2Pac and Big Daddy Kane.

“I started moving to ‘California Love,’” LaBelle told hosts N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN. “That’s when I started to Crip Walk.”

As for Biggie Smalls, LaBelle referenced his 1994 single “Dreams (Just Playing),” but admitted that the two were never lucky enough to meet.

“I never met Biggie, no but Biggie had a song about Patti!” she said. “He sure did, I was shocked.”

Elsewhere in the interview, LaBelle also discussed her relationship with Jazmine Sullivan, admitting that she thought the singer hated her.

“I thought Jazmine Sullivan hated me. Let me say something, last week, she made my heart pound, hard. She called me,” said LaBelle. “The same gentleman, Marquese, who made this outfit and the outfit that I wore for Essence last couple weeks ago, he’s good friends with Jazmine. And so, he said ‘Jazmine and I always used to talk about who’s coming to Patti LaBelle’s party first? You or me?’”

Ma$e Says Diddy Never Paid Him What He Deserved

Ma$e says that he feels that Diddy never paid him what he was worth with Bad Boy and that he wasn’t given the respect he deserved. The legendary rapper discussed his relationship with Diddy during an upcoming appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast with Gillie Da Kid and Wallo267.

“I felt like I did more than I got credit for, more than what I got paid for,” he tells the hosts in a clip from the interview.

When asked by Wallo to clarify, he explained: “I never got paid what I was worth and I never got the respect I was worth. So this disdain that I got for Puff is more like you trying to keep me here, n***a. I’m not here, all my peers are up here. All my peers are bosses.”

Ma$e explained that he felt Diddy never wanted him to evolve behind being just an artist.

“He just kept trying to keep me here,” he added. “Like he didn’t want me to grow at anything.”

In another teaser for the interview posted on social media, Ma$e responds to claims made by Fivio Foreign that he signed him to an exploitative deal by jokingly referring to himself as “Diddy 2.0.”  Fivio had claimed that Ma$e gave him an advance of just $5,000 to sign with RichFish Records.

Ma$e’s appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast is scheduled to be released on Sunday night.

Nike SB’s Updated Blazer Mid Surfaces In New Olive Colorway

Unlike creations of the past, such as the now defunct Blazer Mid Edge, Nike SB’s newest version of the former court staple is a much more subdued update. And to complement the “Black/White” pair revealed just a few days ago, the silhouette will also debut in an “Olive” colorway.

The silhouette’s more notable additions — i.e. the embroidery along the Swoosh and the suede-reinforced toe — are dressed in lighter neutrals here, complementing the midsole as well as the tumbled leather sections of said check. The heel tab and tongue label follow suit, both of which backlight the olive finish of the overlaid logos. Finally, this green then rounds out the rest of the construction, dyeing the canvas/suede base, eye stays, and laces.

For a closer look at this upcoming Nike SB Blazer Mid, check out the official images below. A release is likely coming soon, with sizes sure to land at Nike.com and select skate shops.

In other news, the Air Jordan 1 Mid Court Purple was just unveiled.

Ne-Yo Responds To Wife’s Cheating Accusation: “I Will Work Through Our Challenges”

Ne-Yo’s wife, Crystal Renay, came forward on Instagram, Saturday, alleging that the singer has cheated on her throughout their eight-year-long relationship. Ne-Yo responded to the accusation on Twitter a day later.

“8 years of life and deception. 8 years of unknowingly sharing my life and husband with numerous women who sell their bodies to him unprotected … every last one of them,” Renay said in her post. “To say I’m heartbroken and disgusted is [an] understatement. To ask me to stay and accept it is absolutely insane. The mentality of a narcissist.”

She went on to say that she’s grateful to have gained her “3 beautiful children” from the relationship, but she hasn’t gotten anything else out of it.

“I am not a victim,” she added. “I’m choosing to stand tall with my head held high. If someone can’t love you the way you deserve then it’s up to you to love yourself. With no hate in my heart, I wish him nothing but the best.”

On Sunday, Ne-Yo responded to the accusations by sharing a statement on his Twitter page: “For the sake of our children, my family and I will work through our challenges behind closed doors. Personal matters are not meant to be addressed and dissected in public forums. I simply ask that you please respect me and my family’s privacy at this time.”

Ne-Yo and Renay were married in 2016. They share three kids together, the most recent of whom, Isabella Rose Smith, was born in June 2021. The couple had previously announced their intention to end their marriage in February 2020 but reconciled soon afterward.

Robbie Williams says his next album will see him going “back to 1995”

Robbie Williams has said his next album will see him going “back to 1995”.

READ MORE: ‘Better Man’: eight classic stories the Robbie Williams biopic should include

Speaking to The Telegraph, the musician opened up about his next album and revealed that he’s looking to his past in order to shape the album’s content.

The interviewing journalist recounts how Williams played him several songs that are expected on the next album, which he describes as “guitar-based songs”.

Williams went on to say he’s looking back to the time he left Take That and is intending to create songs that could have come out of that period.

He explained: ‘I’ve decided to go back to 1995. I’ve just left Take That. And now, with the knowledge, musical knowledge that I have, what would be the album that I would make?”

As well as his music, elsewhere in the interview he opened up about new projects he had in the pipeline. “I’m also creating art. I’ve written a TV show. I’ve also designed my own clothing line,” he explained.

“I’ve also created my own drink. I want to build a hotel. I want to create something big in business. What else? There’s loads. Talent competition. I wrote another musical. It’s just limitless and it’s endless…I’m going to be a very, very busy man.”

Recently, it was reported that Williams is set to appear in a new documentary about his life and career.

The film, which will be a television documentary, is reportedly being made by the same production company behind Liam Gallagher’s 2019 film, As It Was, and has been in the works for several months.

As reported in The Sun, a source close to the project said: “Robbie is one of the most entertaining men in music and the documentary will be hilarious and heart-felt in equal measure. He has been through a hell of a lot and battled lots of demons in his personal life.

“But he’s also had an incredible career in music, started a family, and racked up plenty of celebrity anecdotes, so there will be loads to talk about in the documentary.”

Williams last did a fly-on-the-wall documentary about his life almost 20 years ago.

Williams is also set to appear in a new biopic about his life, Better Man, which is directed by The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey.
