Ben Simmons Appears To Troll 76ers After Blowout Playoff Loss

Ben Simmons appeared to troll his former team, the Philadelphia 76ers, on Instagram, Sunday after their 112-88 Game 7 loss to the Boston Celtics. In a post on his Instagram Story, he shared a captionless photo of himself watching the game on TV.

Simmons played for the 76ers from 2016–2022 after the organization drafted him first overall. After several unsuccessful playoff runs, the team traded him to the Brooklyn Nets in 2022, receiving James Harden in exchange. Simmons played 42 games for the Nets this season and averaged 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.3 steals in 26.3 minutes per game. Harden scored just 9 points on 3-11 shooting in Game 7. Joel Embiid, who just won the Most Valuable Player award, only recorded 15 points on 5-18 attempts.

Jermaine Dupri Recalls Latto’s Appearance On “The Rap Game”

Jermaine Dupri recently reflected on Latto’s appearance on the reality show, The Rap Game. Speaking with HipHopDX, he discussed how Latto blew up after the series aired and fired back at people who say he “dropped the ball.” At the time, Latto had been going by the name, “Miss Mulatto.”

“People keep saying, ‘Jermaine, you dropped the ball on [Latto],’” he told the outlet at the Lovers & Friends festival earlier this month. “But what people don’t understand is, I put Latto’s record out. The deal was, if you win on The Rap Game, you get a single from Jermaine Dupri. So that single came out.”

He continued: “The problem was, was that Latto was 16 years old, and the outlets didn’t support it. And nobody was like speaking on it. Nobody talked about it. If you watched the TV show, you saw it. But people didn’t really start talking about Latto until she started making more vulgar records, dressing more sexual, and being more adult.”

The premise of The Rap Game was that five young rappers would face off in a competition to win a recording contract with Dupri’s So So Def imprint. The contestants were Miss Mulatto, Lil Niqo, Lil Poopy, Supa Peach, and Young Lyric.

Jermaine Dupri Reflects On Latto’s Career

Elsewhere in the interview, Dupri spoke about his 14-year-old artist, Young Dylan. In doing so, he called out hip-hop blogs for their lack of support for the rapper. Dylan made a name for himself as a contestant in America’s Got Talent at the age of 10. He also stars in his own Nickelodeon show. “I’m the young man game giver. But everybody keeps saying it’s a young man’s game. So if it’s a young man’s game then why hasn’t — you know, if it is and all these different sites claim – like AllHipHop, they claim it’s all Hip Hop. But they ain’t posted a Dylan record,” Dupri complained. “The Source is supposed to be the source of Hip Hop. They ain’t talked about the Dylan project.”

T-Pain Jokes That Drake Makes Simp Music

T-Pain says that Drake has the making of “simping” music covered. While reflecting on his own history of hit songs about longing for women on Nappy Boy Radio, Pain explained that he doesn’t need to return to that era. He referenced “I’m Sprung,” “I’m N Luv (Wit a Stripper),” “and “Bartender” as examples.

“I had zero confidence in any of my music, I was always the simp, remember?” T-Pain began. “I was always the n***a that didn’t have any confidence that anything could happen at all, I was always wishing for a girl.

“‘I’m Sprung’ – that was about me simping to hell. First real simp joint. ‘I’m In Love With A Stripper’ – never said I ever got her. Just said I liked her a bunch. ‘Bartender’ – never took her anywhere. She was just a bartender. Never said we fucked or anything. Just me simping from afar,” he continued. Pain’s guest on the episode, Rob Markman, then chimed in: “I think we need that back in music though.” Pain responded: “Simpin’? Nah, I think Drake got it covered.”

T-Pain posted the clip on his Instagram page after the interview. Fans shared plenty of laughs in the comments section. One noted that the “simp” quality of T-Pain’s early songs is what made them “unique.” They wrote: “Most other dudes always rapped or sang about already having the woman and doing whatever to her and moving on to the next. Pain songs had a sort of, pining comfortability about them. Like, it was cool to actually have crushes and fall for someone you didn’t necessarily have but that admiration gave you either confidence or purpose.”

T-Pain Reflects On Simping

T-Pain’s comments come after the release of his latest project, which sees him cover a number of songs by iconic artists such as Sam Cooke, Frank Sinatra, Journey, Black Sabbath, and more. With On Top Of The Covers, T-Pain opted to avoid his signature use of autotune. “Each one of these songs means something to me and helped me fall in love with music at different points in my life,” the musician said in a press release. “I’m releasing this covers album from the view of what I hear when I listen to each song.

Swizz Beatz & Timbaland Say They Still Own 100% Of “Verzuz”

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland say that they still own 100% of Verzuz, despite reports that the two sold a majority of the shares to Triller back in March 2021. The two spoke about the state of the series on Instagram Live, Saturday.

“Verzuz is still 100 percent Black-owned,” Swizz said on the broadcast. “50 percent on the top of your screen, and 50 percent on the bottom of your screen. In case you ain’t know. Word to Allah. Okay? It was built for the people, and it will stay with the people. And we love everybody.”

As for the news of Triller purchasing majority ownership of the show, it stems from a report from Variety in 2021. The outlet stated that Triller Network acquired the platform while allowing Swizz Beatz and Timbaland to keep hold of some shares of the company and join the Triller management team. They also “allocated part of their equity stake to the 43 performers who’ve appeared on Verzuz to date to help oversee music and other company strategies.”

“There is no more disruptive and innovative brand in music today than Verzuz,” Bobby Sarnevesht, executive chairman and co-owner of Triller, said when announcing the acquisition. “Both Triller and Verzuz share the ‘artist first, music first’ vision. We view this acquisition as more of a partnership than an acquisition, as Swizz, Timbaland and the other 43 artists who are all becoming shareholders and partners in Triller Verzuz from this day forward become our voice.”

Things took a turn in September 2022, when The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Swizz and Timbaland settled a lawsuit they filed against Triller’s CEO, Ryan Kavanaugh. They claimed he failed to come through with the $28 million infusion of capital that he was supposed to provide with the acquisition. The outlet also confirmed Kavanaugh’s Proxima Media to be the current majority owner of Verzuz.

The politician had been shopping in Home Rule Records in Washington, D.C. when she stopped to share some thoughts about her purchases with photographers.

“Do you know music?” she joked in a video posted to her Instagram this week (May 9).

She then pulled out a Charlie Mingus record, who she said was “really one of the greatest jazz performers ever”.

Also in the haul was Roy Ayers’ ‘Everybody Loves the Sunshine’, which Harris described as one of her “favourite albums of all time” and a “classic”.

Kendall Jenner Gets Cheeky In IG Bikini Pics, Sources Say She Sees “Long-Term Potential” With Bad Bunny

Just a few months after DeuxMoi first reported that they were playing “tonsil hockey” during a night out, Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny continue to get more serious. Just a few days ago, they stole the show while sitting courtside during the Lakers NBA playoff game, both the model and rapper wearing coordinated animal-print boots. Other friends joined them, though the whispering and laughing between the couple prove that they’re definitely feeling each other.

After much of that outing was captured on camera, fans were dying to know how serious things are between Jenner and Benito. According to a source, “[Kendall definitely sees long-term potential with him.” The insider also told UsWeekly, “She feels like he’s the complete package and he treats her like a total gentleman. They are having a great time together, and she appreciates that he gets along with all of her friends.” It seems what attracted the reality starlet to Bad Bunny is his confidence, “which, thankfully, is not arrogance or cockiness.”

Kendall Jenner Has Fun in the Sun

Aside from spending her free time with the Puerto Rican artist, it appears Jenner has also been enjoying some fun in the sun lately. On Saturday (May 13), her Instagram feed lit up with a captionless photo dump showing off her bikini body from various angles. In the opening shot, we see the Californian leaning back to hug a tree, showing off her curvaceous behind at the same time. She proved that she’s not afraid to get dirty while rolling around in the sand, accordingly posing for close-up shorts of her perfectly toned midsection and petite booty afterward.

Little sister Kylie Jenner and big sis Khloé Kardashian both dropped by the comment section to show some love, though the usual haters urged the 818 Tequila founder to “stop promoting unrealistic beauty standards” with her online content. Young Thug Challenges Evidence In RICO Trial

It’s been a wild week in the YSL RICO trial. While the focus was expected to be on Jeffery “Young Thug” Williams, Young Thug was hospitalized twice. The exact cause of Thug’s hospitalization remains unknown. Before that, another defendant was severed from the YSL case after being diagnosed with schizophrenia. Earlier in May, Young Thung’s younger brother was re-arrested after violating the terms of his plea deal.

Finally making it to court, Young Thug sent shockwaves through the case as he and his representatives challenged some crucial evidence in the case. Prosecutors had submitted a recording from a Ring doorbell in connection with a shooting at a house in Atlanta in March 2022. According to police officers, while investigating the shooting, they communicated with someone that they claim is Young Thug. Over a dozen shell casings were recovered from the property, with ten shots reportedly hitting the house.

Young Thug Claims It’s Not Him On The Recording

However, Young Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel is seeking to ban the record, according to AllHipHop. More specifically, Steel wants the recording ruled inadmissible unless the prosecution has a solid basis for positively identifying the voice as Young Thug. Georgia law is deep and complicated when it comes to the use of audio records in court. While it is generally admitted in court, there could be a valid argument for dismissing the evidence if can’t be proven to be the person in question. However, there is an argument to be made for allowing the evidence to be admitted to disprove it in front of a jury. Given Young Thug’s very distinct voice, that could be the way forward.

It’s a wild twist in a case that keeps providing them. Jury selection has reportedly ongoing. However, the jury is yet to be seated as the pre-trial continues to unfold. Defendants continue to be severed and tried separately. What are your thoughts on the case so far? Let us know in the comments below.
