Royal Blood revealed at the weekend that they are set to open a brand new arena in Swansea next March with a new show on their UK arena tour.

The 3,500-cap Swansea Arena will be christened by the band as part of their ‘Typhoons’ UK tour on March 8 next year, and is located in the Marina area of the Welsh city.

Royal Blood scored their third consecutive UK Number One album earlier this year with ‘Typhoons’.

In a four-star review of the album, NME‘s Andrew Trendell wrote: “‘Typhoons’ is not only their best work to date, but all the better for Royal Blood being free to explore what they’re capable of. The album ends with their biggest sonic departure yet: the airy and reflective John Lennon-esque piano ballad ‘All We Have Is Now’ closes proceedings with a breath of fresh air and produces a clear horizon for the future.”

Shades Of Grey, Purple And Blue Take Over This Cold-Ready Nike Air Force 1 For Women

There arguably isn’t a more recognizable sneaker than the Nike Air Force 1. Yet, instead of resting on its laurels, the brand has constantly modified and reimagined Bruce Kilgore’s 1982-design, either for functional or fashionable (or both) purposes. For its latest ensemble, the Nike Sportswear classic has emerged with non-standard suede and nylon materials, as well as a mismatched color palette.

Having already launched in Asia, the newly-surfaced pair features a quilted inner-lining perfect for the cold weather. Hairy suede fabric takes over panels at the forefoot and heel, leaving mid-foot underlays to revel in a contrasting nylon material. In addition to varying in textures, the Air Force 1‘s construction also differs in colors, with shades of grey clashing with hits of light and cool blue. The disparate arrangement extends itself onto the sole unit, which introduces both new hues and patterns: the midsole opts for a “dirty” look that sits right below neon green stitching, while designed-for-basketball-tread favors a rich purple makeup.

Enjoy official images of the pair here below, and expect a stateside Nike.com launch as the new year gets going.

Elsewhere under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, the Air Jordan 3 is set to launch in handfuls of compelling colorways throughout 2022.

ASM Global Taps Jason Oberlander as Chief Commercial Officer

Venue management company ASM Global is expanding its partnership division with Jason Oberlander, who has been hired as chief commercial officer. Oberlander will be tasked with expanding ASM’s naming rights and marketing partnerships for the company’s arenas, stadiums, theaters and convention centers.

“We have the scale, consumer touchpoints and ability to integrate brands in—to music, sports, business, tech and more—that will drive value for the brands, content providers, venue partners and guests,” said ASM President and CEO Ron Bension in a release. “Jason’s extensive experience, particularly with IMG in forging new national partnerships with Fortune 1000 brands, will provide far and away the most diverse and enriching opportunities the industry has ever seen.”

Oberlander was most recently the svp of national sales for sports marketing company Learfield IMG College, which holds the multimedia rights to more than 200 of the nation’s top collegiate athletic properties.

“ASM’s growth potential is unlimited,” Oberlander said in a release. “We’re the world’s largest live-event marketing platform, which enables us to deliver fan-engagement opportunities to brands across the guest journey; and we can do it on a scale that no one else can deliver.”

ASM Global was formed in 2019 as a merger between AEG Facilities and SMG to create a standalone venue management mega-company with a portfolio of more than 325 venues. ASM Global, in concert with AEG Global Partnerships, has been active in recent months in securing naming rights and other ASM Global corporate partnerships. Key naming rights include the Coca-Cola Music Hall and Distro T-Mobile in Puerto Rico; the renamed T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri; and the AO Arena in Manchester, England.

“Fans are craving live-event experiences more than ever, and brands will want to be a part of those moments. No one has the breadth of events, venues, tenant partners and boots on the ground like ASM,” Oberlander added. “At a full run, there are 164 million people coming through our venues. That’s more than the four major U.S. professional sports leagues combined. We are very excited to show brand partners what we’re planning.”

Normani, Saweetie, Grimes & More Featured in 2022 Pirelli Calendar: See Photos

The annual Pirelli calendar for 2022 arrived Monday, backed by a star-studded cast of 10 stars shot by Canadian musician, singer-songwriter and record producer Bryan Adams.

For this year’s photo shoot — which follows an “On the Road” theme pitched by Adams himself — features Cher, Iggy Pop, Jennifer Hudson, Rita Ora, Normani, Grimes, St. Vincent, Kali Uchis, Bohan Phoenix and Saweetie posing for portraits at Los Angeles’ iconic Palace Theatre and the Chateau Marmont, as well as Italy’s Capri at the La Scalinatella Hotel.

Continuing the trade magazine’s more subtle image (the calendar was once known for its racy imagery prior to the 2010s), this year’s stars went for glamour, each in their own unique way. Normani posed from the comfort of white bedsheets, Saweetie pushed stacked designer luggage on a bellhop’s cart at the La Scalinatella Hotel, and Grimes stayed true to herself with a technology theme. Iggy Pop, meanwhile, posed in silver body paint, and St. Vincent kept things simple with a close-up shot of her face, her tongue out and holding a Pirelli guitar pick.

Speaking about the inspiration for this year’s theme, Adams told Pirelli, “It wasn’t too difficult, if I’m honest, because on the road is what I’ve been doing for the last 45 years. When I proposed it, I almost thought maybe this had been done before because it’s such an obvious thing, and I thought the symbiotic relationship would be good, the idea of musicians who travel and a company that makes tyres. It makes sense to me. I thought they might have thought it was a bit too much on the nose, but in the end they loved it.”

State of Mine & Drew Jacobs Hit Hot 100 With Hard Rock Cover of Blake Shelton’s ‘God’s Country’

State of Mine sends a hard rock cover of a country hit to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart for a second time in 2021, as “God’s Country,” with Drew Jacobs, starts atop the Dec. 4-dated survey.

The acts’ rendition of Blake Shelton‘s seven-week Hot Country Songs No. 1 from 2019 debuts with 842,000 U.S. streams and 25,300 downloads sold in the Nov. 19-25 tracking week, according to MRC Data.

It follows State of Mine’s cover of Garth Brooks‘ “The Thunder Rolls” (featuring No Resolve), which crowned Hot Hard Rock Songs in February and ranks at No. 7 on the latest list with 418,000 streams and 1,500 sold.

“God’s Country” also becomes State of Mine’s first all-format Digital Song Sales No. 1. It’s the band’s second leader, after “Thunder” on Rock Digital Song Sales and Hard Rock Digital Song Sales.

Jacobs, meanwhile, claims his first No. 1 ranks thanks to “God’s Country.”

The track additionally arrives as each act’s first top 10 on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, starting at No. 8, and first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, bowing at No. 73.

Naniwa Danshi’s ‘UBU-LOVE’ Holds at No. 1 on Japan Hot 100 as NEWS Debut at No. 2

Naniwa Danshi’s debut single “UBU-LOVE” logs a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, dated Nov. 15 to 21, preventing the latest single by another Johnny’s group, NEWS, from launching at the top spot this week.

Naniwa Danshi’s “UBU-LOVE” continues to maintain momentum after bowing at No. 1 on last week’s tally, ruling video views and look-ups this week and also coming in at No. 2 for physical sales, No. 19 for radio airplay, No. 40 for Twitter mentions, and No. 72 for karaoke.

NEWS’ new single, “Mirai-e” (“To the future”), debuts at No. 2 after selling 133,575 copies in its first week to rule physical sales. The track also came in at No. 2 for look-ups, No. 10 for Twitter, and No. 60 for radio, but the total wasn’t enough to topple the brand-new seven-member boy band from the peak position.

Figure-wise, “UBU-LOVE” has been steadily increasing video views, going from 1,309,043 views two weeks ago to 2,547,952 views last week and racking up 3,574,948 views this week, overtaking NiziU’s “Chopstick,” which was the No. 1 song for the metric last week. Johnny’s groups tend to accumulate most of their points in the physical metrics (sales and look-ups), and not so much in video, but Naniwa Danshi is different in that they show strength in the digital metrics as well.

Veteran anime singer LiSA follows the two Johnny’s groups with her former No. 1 single “Akeboshi” and new track “Shirogane,” coming in at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. The former was boosted 11-3 after the CD went on sale during the chart week, coming in at No. 4 for sales and No. 3 for look-ups. The latter debuts at No. 4 after ruling downloads. “Akeboshi” is the opener and “Shirogane” the closer for the Mugen Train story arc of the anime series, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, and the synergy between LiSA and this ubiquitous anime continues to be significant.

Yuuri’s “Betelgeuse” slips 4-5 on the Japan Hot 100, but holds at No. 1 for streaming with 8,816,023 weekly streams. His long-running hit “Dryflower” has also been pushed back 5-8 but is still going strong in streaming with 6,654,361 streams. “Betelgeuse” also charted at No. 64 for karaoke this week from outside the top 100, and it’ll be interesting to see how this track fares in comparison to the current and longtime No. 1 song for the metric — “Dryflower.”

The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, audio streams, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups and karaoke data.

See the full Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart, dated Nov. 15 to 21, here.

Arca releases ‘KICK ii’ project early

Arca, who was due to release her ‘KICK ii’, ‘KicK iii’ and ‘kick iiii’ albums on Friday (December 3), has brought ‘KICK ii’ forward a few days.

READ MORE: Arca – ‘KiCk i’ review: a new high watermark for the wildly innovative producer’s experimental pop

The second volume of her ‘Kick’ album series, released via XL Recordings, follows last year’s Grammy-nominated ‘KiCk i’, and features contributions from Cardopusher, Boys Noize, Mica Levi, Jenius Level, Wondagurl and Cubeatz.

The early release of ‘KICK ii’ comes after Arca shared new track ‘Queer’ last week, featuring electronic musician Planningtorock. The glitchy track with distorted Spanish and English vocals is a preview of the artist’s ‘kick iiii’.

‘Queer’ follows Sia collaboration ‘Born Yesterday’ and ‘Prada/Rakata’, both taken from ‘KICK ii’. ‘KicK iii’ was previously previewed with recent single ‘Incendio’ and ‘Electra Rex’, which comes with a Carlota Guerrero-directed music video that was shot in September 2020.

You can listen to ‘KICK ii’ below:

Arca’s most recent full-length effort was ‘KiCk i’, released last June on XL. It featured the singles ‘Nonbinary’‘Time’‘Mequetrefe’ and ‘KLK’ (featuring Rosalía). In a four-star reviewNME’s Dhruva Balram said the album “presents a new high-water mark” for Arca, calling it her “most accessible record yet” but noting that “there are no signs of compromise here”.

At the weekend, Arca shared an image of the mp3 files for her Kick album series. The pic included a folder titled “K5”, leading fans to speculate that she might be releasing a surprise fifth album alongside ‘KicK iii’ and ‘kick iiii’.

and wander Closes Out 2021 With Their Collaborative Salomon XT-6 ADV

Founded in 2011 by former Issey Miyake designers Keita Ikeuchi and Mihoko Mori, and wander has quickly become one of the most recognized names in outdoors gear, presenting apparel and accessories replete with an astonishing attention to detail. And this passion isn’t exclusive to their own mainline offerings; collaborative efforts, too, share a cohesive identity — especially so with their seasonal run of Salomons.

To close out their Autumn/Winter ’21 collection, the two have set their sights on the beloved XT-6. Like the technically advanced outerwear it accompanies, the silhouette leans towards a subdued palette, dressing much of its exterior in a black finish. The tab down the center, then, incorporates brighter hits of yellow, red, and blue, which effectively underline the emboldened “and wander” branding. An additional mark stamps the medial heel, though it visually blends into the background like the “Salomon” text opposite. Finally, the sole, while treaded in white, finishes strong along its foxing with two texturally distinct instances of cool tones.

Enjoy a detailed look at the collaboration here. They’re currently available at select retailers, with sizes selling out rather fast. Find them at a price tag of around $300 USD via the links below.

In other news, the adidas YEEZY 500 Ash Grey is landing this week.

Nike Blesses The Oregon Ducks With Vaporposite “Galaxy” Cleats For Pac-12 Championship Game

As the Oregon Ducks fly to Las Vegas for the Pac-12 Championship Game Utah, Nike has them dressing the part of winner with some special footwear for the big game. The Swoosh revives the timeless “Galaxy” pattern, imposing it onto the upper of the Nike Vaporposite Cleats, and blending it with the signature green hue that has allowed Oregon uniforms to stand out from the rest of the pack. Paired with the oily iridescent finish on the cleated bottoms, this Vaporposite will be a showstopper come this Friday.

Originally debuting in 2012, the “Galaxy” pattern first surfaced on the Air Foamposite One as part of Nike Basketball’s earth-shattering collection for All-Star Weekend. Fondly dubbed the “Big Bang” Pack, this Air Foamposite One was the cause for nationwide campouts, and in some cases, violent riots. This forced Nike to rethink their sneaker release procedures, setting the foundation for the current lottery-based system we have today.

Harry Styles Bids Farewell to His Love On Tour: ‘Goodbye for Now’

Harry Styles is saying goodbye to his Love On Tour with a heartfelt message.

“Thank you for 42 special nights,” the superstar tweeted Tuesday (Nov. 30). “It’s been a privilege to play for you the last few months. To the band, the crew, and everyone working on this tour, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. The energy you brought to this one has left me feeling completely overwhelmed with joy.”

He continued: “This tour felt like the celebration of coming back together. I won’t ever forget it. Thank you all so much for the love, I’ll see you very soon. Treat people with kindness. Goodbye for now. I love you all. H.”

The grateful message was accompanied by a photo of Styles, his band and backup singers embracing in front of a cheering crowd during their final bows.

The Love On Tour jaunt wrapped the weekend before Thanksgiving with three nights at The Forum in Los Angeles. The U.S. tour featured support from opener Jenny Lewis and included the former One Direction-er’s fan-favorite Harryween with two back-to-back shows at Madison Square Garden.

While the tour for his sophomore album, Fine Line, may be over, Styles has plenty of other projects to keep him occupied. The singer’s brand-new beauty line, Pleasing, officially went live on Monday. Among the line’s first items on sale are a nail polish set, two individual polish colors, The Pleasing Pen and a Pearlescent Illuminating Serum. Pleasing products can be purchased on the beauty brand’s official website.

In a cover story with DAZED to announce the venture, the “Watermelon Sugar” singer explained that, while the idea started with nail polish, he has more in store. “It was a fun little project, but during the pandemic, and when we eventually named it Pleasing, it felt like it was so much more than nail polish,” he told the magazine, adding, “I really think that the essence of Pleasing is finding those little moments of joy and showing them to people.”

Check out Styles’ sweet farewell note to his tour below.
