A fan named Valentino Rodrigues posted a now-viral TikTok video of the exact moment in which the pop megastar removed her Off-White sunglasses and threw them into the crowd. However, security quickly intervened after Rodrigues seemed to have gotten into a small altercation with a nearby fan who also caught the glasses at the same time. The security guard ultimately ended up walking away with the sunglasses.

In an interview with Buzzfeed, Rodrigues explained: “When the sunglasses were thrown, initially my friend Khalid caught them, but there was a girl next to him who, I think, might have also caught them.”

“The girl who tried to snatch the glasses away from my friend called security over. She was really just on the side of, ‘If I’m not gonna have them, no one will,’” he added.

Beyoncé walked back to his section during her song ‘Heated’ and tossed Rodrigues the glasses once more. This time, the fan was able to catch and keep them. He was told that the sleek, futuristic looking shades are estimated to be worth around $53,000.

In response to a comment that read “security is a hater”, Rodrigues posted a follow up video to his TikTok, where, as he puts on the glasses, said: “I don’t know about you guys but I can’t see the haters.”

The ‘Renaissance’ tour started in Stockholm, Sweden earlier this month, while the first of five shows at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium took place on May 29.

The pop star also brought out her daughter Blue Ivy on stage as a surprise for the crowd for performances of ‘My Power’ and ‘Black Parade’, and shared a message on her Instagram celebrating the 11-year-old and her big moment on stage.

During her show on May 30, Beyoncé sang ‘River Deep, Mountain High’ in tribute to the late Tina Turner. This comes after the singer recently said that “I wouldn’t be on this stage without Tina Turner”, while she also paid her respects by writing a message to the singer on her website last week.

KENZO Debuts First Sneaker Under NIGO’s Creative Direction

NIGO‘s departure from A BATHING APE was just the beginning of a brand new legacy. In addition to founding yet another successful label — namely, Human Made — the streetwear legend has gone on to work with the likes of Louis Vuitton and will soon even reconcile with Nike. His appointment as Creative Director of KENZO, however, is arguably more significant, as NIGO is the first Japanese designer to take up the mantle since Kenzo Takada’s retirement in 1999.

Two years and three collections later, KENZO is proud to debut their first-ever sneaker under NIGO’s creative direction. Dubbed the KENZO-Dome, the silhouette incorporates the Japanese designer’s love of retro classics, drawing heavy inspiration from ’90s skate culture and the shoes synonymous with the era. Even the name of the model itself is a reference, borrowed from “The Dome,” a renowned skate park located on grounds of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.

Available in a host of colorways for both men and women alike, the KENZO-Dome is available right now at the KENZO.com as well as the label’s storefronts, retailing for $350 USD.

Nick Cannon Says Jamie Foxx Will Give A Health Update “When He’s Ready”

In a recent interview with Extra, Nick Cannon discussed the topic of actor Jamie Foxx’s health. When he was asked to give an update, Cannon revealed that Foxx would prefer to update the public himself, “when he’s ready.” Cannon went on to claim that what the public currently knows is the only information Foxx and his family wants them to know for now.

In the interview, Cannon describes being asked to fill in for Foxx amid his hospitalization. It was revealed in May that Cannon would be filling in for Foxx as the host of the series, Beat Shazam. “I was like, ‘I’ll do anything for Jamie,’” he explained. “‘Once I get the blessing I’m there.’” Cannon then discussed having respect for how Foxx has handled the situation. “He’s always been somebody who is extremely professional and extremely private,” he explained. He added, “He’s handled this situation with the same manner, you only can respect that.” The interviewer later asks him to give a health update on Foxx. Cannon said, “As a friend, just being as respectful as I can, I don’t pry. I don’t ask any other questions.” He claims, “When he’s ready, he’s going to address the awaiting fans in the world in the way that only he can.”

Nick Cannon Says Foxx Is “Extremely Private”

“We wanted to share that my father Jamie Foxx experienced a medical complication yesterday,” Foxx’s daughter Corinne shared on social media in April. She added, “Luckily due to quick action and great care he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.” Following the news of Foxx’s hospitalization, Cannon wrote on social media, “I literally have been saying prayers out loud.” He added, “I know he’s doing so much better.”

Various rumors about Foxx’s health status have been circulating since the actor’s hospitalization. Recently A.J. Benza alleged that Foxx has been left partially blind and paralyzed following the medical complication, despite lack of evidence. He also alleged that the complications arose following Foxx receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, and many social media users are calling his allegations “irresponsible.” None of the rumors surrounding Foxx’s health have been confirmed.

Jay-Z Won’t Let Ne-Yo Live Down Giving “Let Me Love You” Away To Mario

Ne-Yo has given us no shortage of hits throughout his career, from “Miss Independent” and “So Sick” to “She Knows” and “Time of Our Lives.” Even with all that he’s achieved, the R&B singer says that Jay-Z still won’t let him live down his decision to give 2004’s “Let Me Love You” to Mario. Ne-Yo reflected on the hit song during his appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, revealing that Hov gives him hell to this day about not keeping the single for himself.

As the 43-year-old tells it, he was primarily working as a songwriter prior to signing with Def Jam Records in 2005. Because he wasn’t focused on a career as a vocalist at the time, he happily passed “Let Me Love You” off to another artist. “So this song goes on and stays at number one for 12 or 13 weeks, something like that, becomes one of the most played songs in radio history,” Ne-Yo said of Mario’s work. “The first time I got to meet Jay-Z, I’d been signed for a couple of months at this point. I walk into the room and he’s in there,” his story continued.

Ne-Yo Reflects on “Let Me Love You”

“It’s in L.A. Reid’s office. I walk in, ‘Hey it’s nice to meet you.’ He’s like, ‘Man, why you give that damn song away?’ Nice to meet you too bruh, cool. I’m Ne-Yo,” the Arkansas native joked. “To this day, he yell at me about giving that damn song away. But I was just a songwriter when I wrote it, I didn’t write it for myself.” After listening to his guest’s story, Sharpe asked Ne-Yo if he believes he could’ve outdone Mario’s version of the song.

The father of five gave his contemporary his flowers, saying, “I’ll be the first to tell you that Mario got chops that I don’t.” However, because he knows he’s got chops of his own, he “feels like it would’ve worked out either way.” Do you think Ne-Yo could’ve found more success by keeping “Let Me Love You” for himself? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more music/pop culture news updates.

Lil Uzi Vert Makes Interesting Admission About “Just Wanna Rock”

Lil Uzi Vert came out with a hit when they dropped “Just Wanna Rock” back in 2022. Overall, this was a song that took a lot of people by surprise. This is mostly due to the huge shift in sound. This was a Jersey club banger that saw Uzi delivering some of their most off-kilter vocals yet. Additionally, the production was unlike anything that Uzi had ever rapped over. In the end, fans were quite impressed by it, and for some, it has replaced “Dreams And Nightmares” as the Philadelphia anthem.

Recently, Uzi got to speak to 032 Magazine where they touched on a plethora of topics. For instance, they explained why they changed their pronouns. Furthermore, they gave a rundown of their stint in rehab. In addition to all of this, they also spoke on “Just Wanna Rock” and how the whole track came together. As it turns out, the song is unfinished, although Uzi isn’t pressed about it. “Yeah, I make experimental music,” Lil Uzi Vert said. “That song is definitely unfinished. The end of the beat is messed up too.”

Lil Uzi Vert On “Just Wanna Rock”

From there, the artist went on to say that doing this song always made sense to them. At the end of the day, it is the culture they grew up around. Lil Uzi Vert even referenced their beginnings as a dancer. “People forgot I was a dancer before I was a rapper,” they explained. “I didn’t make any of this up, that’s how cool kids from Philly and Jersey dance – so I’m only a product of my environment. I’m just shining a light on that culture.”

With The Pink Tape on the horizon, fans are curious to hear what Uzi might decide to do next. Whatever it is, there is no doubt that fans are going to be excited to hear it. LCS Strike: Teams Sign Players, Union Cancels Interviews

The strike by the LCS Players Association has already sent shockwaves through the esports industry. Despite attempts to sign replacement teams, Riot Games ultimately decided to postpone the start of the LCS Summer split by two weeks. However, Riot Games made it very clear that they opposed all union demands and were not afraid to cancel the split entirely. If the LCS was to be canceled, North American teams would not be eligible for Worlds 2023 in South Korea.

In response to Riot’s actions, the Players Association announced their dedication to resolving the situation. Subsequently, the Players Association said that they had asked Riot to engage with them in daily meetings to find an equitable solution to the strike. In the absence of the LCS, fans were treated to a showmatch between Disguised and Delta Fox. The best-of-three series was cast by LCS mainstays Azael and CaptainFlowers. Disguised won 2-0 with over 30,000 people watching the stream.

Teams Making Signings And The PA Cancels Media Appearances

Looks like LCSPA-Riot conversations are moving forward.

(PA is Phil Aram, the PA head, FYI) pic.twitter.com/aVPvgcqG0O

— ℳikhail Klimentov (@LeaderGrev) June 2, 2023

June 1 saw the first LCS roster moves since the strike was announced. Golden Guardians announced the signing of ADC Jackson “Array” Moldenhauer as the team’s sixth man for the split. This came as a result of former sixth man Youngho “Young” Choi signing with Disguised. Array is a long-time academy player who spent a year with Golden Guardians Challengers before being released last month. While a minor move, it indicates that teams are being able to convince players to cross the picket in preparation for the upcoming season.

Furthermore, freelance esports reporter Mikhail Klimentov shared a text message from Players Association Executive Director Phil Arama. “Mikhail, I’m sorry but I’ve got to postpone indefinitely. We are in productive conversations with Riot at this time and do not want to disrupt them with further media for the moment.” This could further indicate that Riot and the Players Association are nearing an agreement. The LCS Summer split is currently set to start on June 15. Furthermore, the NACL, the second-tier competition that caused the walkout, begins on June 10. This is a developing story and we’ll have any updates here at HotNewHipHop.

The Evolution Of Jadakiss: From Mixtapes to Mainstream Success

Jadakiss has had a long and prolific career. The Yonkers rapper emerged as a member of The Lox alongside Styles P and Sheek Louch but his solo career has been just as fruitful. His lyrical prowess earned him the reputation of owning any track he’s on, whether alongside fellow formidable MCs or R&B singers. It’s impossible not to recognize his raspy voice on a song that became synonymous with his charismatic rapping style. As the rapper turned the age of 48 on May 27th, Jadakiss cemented his legacy in hip-hop and expanded his repertoire into different businesses. Today, we take a look into the evolution of Jadakiss.

Jadakiss’s Young Age Talent And Success With The Lox

Jadakiss’s development as a rapper goes back to his adolescence. At the age of twelve, Jadakiss began rapping while participating in freestyle rap competitions. He formed The Lox with his childhood friends, Styles P and Sheek Louch, creating demos and mixtapes that would eventually get them signed. Together, they created some of New York’s toughest street rap anthems. They initially signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy label, appearing on songs alongside the label’s staples including Biggie and Mase. One of their earliest career highlights as a group was their show-stealing verses on Diddy’s “It’s All About The Benjamins” remix. They released their debut album, Money, Power & Respect under Bad Boy in 1998 before moving to Ruff Ryders, reaching further success. The Lox also started their D-Block record label.

A Successful Solo Career

After The Lox released their sophomore album, We Are The Streets on Ruff Ryders in 2000, Jadakiss began focusing on his solo career. While still closely collaborating with Styles and Sheek, Jadakiss’s solo albums pushed his star power further. His debut album, 2001’s Kiss Tha Game Goodbye contained two of his biggest hits: “We Gonna Make It” and “Knock Yourself Out.” Jadakiss’s second album, 2004’s Kiss of Death was an even bigger commercial success. The album achieved number 1 spots on multiple Billboard charts and contained his two hit singles, “Why?” and “U Make Me Wanna” ft. Mariah Carey.

Jadakiss had already proved that he could make hit crossover songs with R&B artists, but “Why?” with Anthony Hamilton and “U Make Me Wanna” solidified Jadakiss’s status as a key collaborator. “By My Side,” the Ne-Yo-assisted lead single from his third album, 2009’s The Last Kiss also reinforced Jadakiss’s ability to make hit songs. Outside of The Lox, Jadakiss has also worked with notable R&B artists such as Usher, Ronald Isley, and Mario. Jadakiss has a deep history of being one of hip hop’s best guest features, appearing on songs with rappers like Big Pun, N.O.R.E., Ghostface Killah, Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne, and others. He has also worked with some of the UK’s most famous rappers like Giggs and Young Adz, who signed with ‘Kiss’s D-Block as a member of D-Block Europe.

The Verzuz Champion

The freestyle rap competitions that Jadakiss entered at a young age set him up for success, but also encouraged his competitive spirit within hip-hop. Jadakiss declared himself “top 5 dead or alive” in hip-hop — a statement that inspired the title of his fourth studio album in 2015. He and close collaborator and fellow New York rapper Fabolous sparred with each other on their 2017 collab album, Friday on Elm Street.

However, that same competitive spirit that shaped his pen during freestyle battles also allowed him to shine in both solo and group Verzuz battles; one being Jadakiss vs. Fabolous while the other saw The Lox go head-to-head with Dipset. Jadakiss was crowned the winner of his battle with Fabolous while The Lox came out victorious against Dipset due to Jadakiss’s show-stopping charisma, specifically his “Who Shot Ya? Freestyle.” His deep catalog of both solo and group records helped support Jadakiss’s debatable position as “top 5 dead or alive.”

Today, Jadakiss is viewed as a hip-hop legend, giving new artists a shine and collaborating with fellow legends on his later albums like the aforementioned Top 5 Dead Or Alive from 2015 and 2020’s Ignatius. The Lox are also more unified than ever as they came together following each member’s solo works for recent group albums like 2016’s Filthy America… It’s Beautiful and 2020’s Living Off Xperience.

Ventures Outside of Music

In addition to music, Jadakiss has stepped into business ventures that have also been successful. In 2014, Jadakiss and Styles P opened a juice bar in their hometown of Yonkers called Juices For Life before opening other locations in different parts of New York City. Keeping it in the family, Jadakiss also recently launched his own brand of coffee company called Kiss Cafe with his father and son. In a new Drink Champs interview promoting the new coffee product, Jadakiss’s father discussed working in the coffee industry long before Jadakiss started rapping at a young age. For them, working as a family was a full-circle moment.

Snoop Dogg And Dr. Dre Postpone Shows In Solidarity With Writers Guild

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre were scheduled to perform at the Hollywood Bowl later this month, however, they’ve announced that the shows are postponed. The two performances were set for June 27-28, and intended to celebrate the 30-year-anniversary of Snoop Dogg’s iconic Doggystyle album. According to sources, the artists didn’t feel right about performing amid the Writers Guild of America strike. The shows have now been rescheduled for October 20-21.

The two rappers also showed their support for the striking workers by sending food trucks to Paramount Studios earlier today. A sign on one truck read, “Bagels sponsored by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.” The sign also states, “We stand in solidarity with the unions and are hopeful that the AMPTP will negotiate fair deals as soon as possible and everyone can get back to work.”

Earlier this month, Snoop shared how he supports the strike, suggesting that artists on streaming platforms should do the same. “[Artists] need to figure it out the same way the writers are figuring it out,” he explained, “The writers are striking because [of] streaming; they can’t get paid. Because when it’s on the platform, it’s not like in the box office.” He added, “That’s the main gripe with a lot of us artists is that we do major numbers. But it don’t add up to the money. Like, where the f*ck is the money?”

Various other big names have supported the WGA strike, including Lil Wayne, Drew Barrymore, Pete Davidson, and more. Last week, Lil Wayne showed his support for the WGA by sending a burger truck to feed the striking workers. Davidson brought pizza to the strikers earlier this month, while Barrymore stepped down from hosting the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards. She said, “Everything we celebrate and honor about movies and television is born out of their creation. And until a solution is reached, I am choosing to wait but I’ll be watching from home.” MTV supported for her decision, claiming to “have full respect for” her choice to pull out.
