In 1991, Tinker Hatfield and the Swoosh debuted the Nike Air Huarache, a performance-running shoe that deviated from the visible Air solution that had become a go-to option for the brand at the turn of the ’90s.

Recently, the scuba shoe-inspired design emerged as part of the Next Nature collection, a series of footwear products partly-built with recycled materials. Woven base layers harken back to past woven sneakers from the Swoosh’s expansive catalog of product, delivering a touch of breathability and sustainability to the Nike Sportswear staple. Overlays at the toe and along the profiles deviate from their underlays’ tan color in favor of a fall-appropriate olive green; Nike Huarache logos at the top of the tongue favor a neon variant of the contrasting green hue. Nike Grind material lands at the heel and waffle-patterned outsole, furthering the company’s goal of sustainability.

Enjoy official images of the pair ahead, and anticipate a Nike.com launch soon.
