The union between sport and style is commonplace now, but brands like FILA were pivotal in laying the foundation. Recently, the Italian icon teamed up with Swedish children’s wear brand, Mini Rodini, for a playful and stylish collection.
Made up of sneakers, apparel, and accessories, the FILA x Mini Rodini collaboration was masterminded by Cassandra Rhodin, the latter’s Founder and Creative Director. Rhodin visited FILA’s archives in Biellla, Italy, immersing herself in the heritage of the storied sports and lifestyle brand. She came out from reviewing thousands of vintage catalogs with a vision: A Swedish take on Italian sportswear, rabbits, Wes Anderson, 90s Chloë Sevigny, and tennis legend, Björn Borg.
The FILA x Mini Rodini collection features the FX-100 and F-13 sneaker styles in colorful, panda-approved makeups. And while fun on their own, the shoes are accompanied by sweatshirts, socks, headbands, and other apparel covered in equally playful and stylish touches. Lastly, Rhodin’s work for FILA is made entirely from recycled polyester, organic cotton, faux leather, and other materials that aim to help save the planet.
