Snoop Dogg has paid tribute to his mom Beverly Tate, the author and evangelist who passed away Sunday (Oct. 24), at the age of 70.

The hip-hop great turned to social media to share a string of throwback photos of himself and his beloved mom, who was born in McComb, Mississippi, in 1951.

In one post, the 50-year-old rapper posted a pic of himself leaning in for a hug with his mom, along with the caption, “Mama thank u for having me.”

In another, he wrote: “Thank u god for giving me an angel for a mother,” accompanying a picture of his parent in a pastel pink ensemble, holding a bouquet of flowers.

Snoop also posted a video of himself, listening to music in a darkened room, captioned with a single broken-heart emoji.

Born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, Snoop is one Tate’s four sons. More than just the mother of the Doggfather, Tate published a string of books during her lifetime, including Real Love (2012), and Real Love II: The Story of an Extraordinary Woman (2014).

Tate was reportedly hospitalized earlier this year for undisclosed reasons. A cause of death has not been revealed.
