Pete Davidson Thanks Charlamagne For Defending Him Against Kanye West

Kanye West has created quite a mess for himself recently. From losing brand deals to no longer being a billionaire, things have not been looking too good for the father of four.

While there’s an extensive list of all the things Ye has done in recent months, one incident, in particular, is still making headlines. After he dissed Charlamagne Tha God on Drink Champs, the Breakfast Club host came back with a vengeance.

During an episode of Brilliant Idiots, Charla revealed the distinct details of a phone conversation he had with the DONDA rapper.

“[Kanye was] basically trying to get me on board to sh*t on somebody he knows is my friend– Pete Davidson.” After telling him that he and Pete are good friends, Ye allegedly yelled, “My wife is out here f*cking a white boy with a ten-inch penis, and you won’t help me,” he told his co-host, Andrew Schulz.

Charlamagne further admitted that he keeps brining up Pete’s size is because he knows it gets Kanye upset.

Rounding off on the story, he added, “You said that to me. But he gets on the interview and acts like he don’t know where that came from. The motherf*cker is a master manipulator.”

After things went viral on social media, the SNL comedian felt the need to thank Charla for his solidarity. According to Hollywood Life, a source revealed to them the specifics of their conversation.

As reported by the media outlet, “Pete truly wants nothing to do with the drama and wishes Kanye would just move past this. Pete certainly has, and he’s focused on his own life. He just wishes Kanye would do the same. It meant a lot for Charlamagne to have his back and he knows he is a true friend. They go way back and even though Pete knows Charlamagne is cool with Kanye, he appreciates speaking up for him.”

While Ye’s alleged comments had the internet in shambles, it didn’t stop him from going in on Pete and Kim K’s former relationship. During an interview with the  Lex Fridman Podcast, he explained why their relationship didn’t last.

“Not just because he’s ugly,” Ye stated. “He’s not Black, she likes Black guys.”

Trippie Redd Recruits Don Toliver For “Ain’t Safe” Single

Ohio native Trippie Redd is not just a hit-maker, but a genre chameleon as well. His four singles so far in 2022 have seen him work with his trademark styles: acoustic ballads, melodic emo rap, hard-hitting trap, and his newest track “Ain’t Safe” brings psychedelic vibes into the mix. Assisted by Don Toliver, Trippie taps into his Travis Scott influences on this track and completes a general picture of his artistry with his singles this year.

Rob Kim/Getty Images

Production-wise, “Ain’t Safe” borrows heavily from the wave of psychedelic trap and melodic song structures and verses that Don has helped establish as an influential movement in hip-hop and popular music at large. It’s nothing new at this point, but the graceful piano melodies and dense ad-libs make for a fun atmosphere to match the percussion. It’s the type of beat that isn’t hot on impact, with its bouncy bass hits and understated hi-hats and snares, but it works engagingly as a dreamy combo.

Don Toliver opens the track with a catchy and tone-setting verse that outlines its lyrical topics. It ain’t safe out there for his enemies, he’s moving around with ease, he’s meeting women over the world, and he stays strapped with .40s and Oxycontin. His voice is always a winner for tracks like these, especially when it’s paired with a dynamic flow. In contrast to Trippie, he actually comes across as the more relaxed and laidback part of the song, and it’s the track’s catchiest moment.

The “Miss The Rage” star doesn’t slouch on his track, though. He expands on a lot of the same flexes and mindsets that Don started the track with, but with a more powerful vocal performance. Trippie slides in between snarls, soaring yells, and fast flows with ease. Much like Don Toliver, the 23-year-old’s voice has always been one of the most interesting and idiosyncratic elements of his artistry, and to hear two imaginative vocalists together makes for some compelling ear candy.

“Ain’t Safe” follows three other singles this year in anticipation of Trippie’s next album, A Love Letter To You 5. It’s yet to come, but he’s already said it’s his best body of work to date. He’s said that it won’t be experimental like other projects of his, so it makes sense that these singles have all seen him tap into his most popular musical excursions.

Last single before my album AINT SAFE ft @DonToliver OUT RIGHT NOW

Trippie has shown his big artistic personalities with all his 2022 singles, whether it’s the trap banger “Big 14” or the emo-inspired dual release First Draft. This year’s even seen him enter the anime world with a Boondocks producer, so stay tuned to HotNewHipHop to see what other magic Trippie Redd has in store for fans.

Fousheé’s New Single Will Have You Feeling Like A “supernova”

The women of R&B have been holding it down over the past few weeks, and New Jersey-born songstress Fousheé is only continuing that tradition with her latest single, “supernova.”

The brief track – loaded with unique electronic production – landed on DSPs on Friday (October 28), and precedes the “Sunshine” hitmaker’s follow-up to her 2021 debut album, time machine, which has been called Softcore and is expected to arrive next month.

In a past interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the rising starlet revealed some of her biggest songwriting influences. “My mom was raised in Jamaica and immigrated here, and her playlist was a lot of Bob Marley, a lot of Celine Dion surprisingly, a lot of Toni Braxton,” she recalled.

“I would listen to the radio growing up, so I was listening to hip-hop, R&B, pop. And then, once I started performing, the music that I was studying was more like alternative and rock, and blues and jazz, and more instrumental. I just love all those things and developed it. It kind of ended up morphing into my musical DNA,” Fousheé added.

The 32-year-old found her career rising to new heights after her “Deep End (Freestyle)” went viral on TikTok back in 2020, and has since gone on to work with names like Steve Lacy and King Princess.

Stream “supernova” on Spotify or Soundcloud below, check out the visualizer above, and check back in with HNHH on November 18th to stream Fousheé’s Softcore.

Quotable Lyrics:

Supernova high like glitter in the sky
I’m faded out my mind
Let’s make a memory
Running through my mind
I think you may be my type
Or you could be cyanide
But I’ll never leave

Skaiwater Adds Lil Uzi Vert To “Miles”

skaiwater is having a moment. The UK rapper has been dropping single after single this year, including “#Miles,” “eyes,” and “boys don’t cry.” In 2021, he released his debut album Happy Hour, which got attention for tracks like “Sun” and “The Blade,” and included a feature from Lil Keed.

Now, skaiwater has linked up with Lil Uzi Vert to revamp “#Miles,” which has been his biggest single to date. The original track is relatively quaint, with twinkling synths and quietly sung hooks. Uzi brings a whole new level of energy to the song.

On the new “miles,” the differences are clear from the outset. The beat takes the forefront as Uzi howls “Oh my god” in the background over and over again. Uzi then enters his verse, which sees him at his most emo-rap. “And I want you to leave / You are not who I need / Our love’s all pretend / I can feel the weed, it’s a trend,” Uzi sings.

A distorted bass acts as an anchor to the single, leading the listener through a variety of instrument combinations which occur throughout the single which clocks in at under three minutes. The scatter-brained production is reminiscent of Uzi’s own new single which has been doing numbers, “Just Wanna Rock,” which is a kaleidoscope of production styles, hooks, and dissonant synths.

While “miles” doesn’t go quite as far as “Just Wanna Rock,” it’s clear Uzi’s impact is there throughout. skaiwater isn’t complaining. “Vert the new hov,” the rapper wrote on Twitter.

Check out the new song below. Let us know what you think of it in the comments. Do you like the original or the updated version?

Quotable Lyrics

Take control, and let me know
‘Cause I can’t stay here, I need to go
If I give you my name, I know I’m sure (About you)
If you play them mind games, I’ll show you the door

Vince Ash Drops Romantic Single “Whut’s It Gon Be”

Indiana artist, Vince Ash, brings a new sound to R&B and hip-hop. His recent hits “L’z,” “Lost,” and “Coach Carter” solidified his spot in the industry by a landslide. Since becoming the first artist to sign to Paul Rosenberg’s Goliath Records imprint on Interscope, Ash has not taken his foot off the gas.

Yesterday (October 28), the rising artist dropped his newest single, “Whut’s It Gon Be.” Featuring Bino Rideaux, the three-minute record was driven by an old-school West Coast type of beat.

As Vince Ash showed love to the leading lady in his life, he recounted all the little things he’s done to express his admiration for her. “With every second in a minute, of a hour with you/I’ll cherish every moment/Cause it won’t be long til we through,” he rapped.

Aside from the single, the artist also recorded visuals for the record. In the video, he is at a crowded party, but his sight stays focused on the camera and the girl he’s falling for.

Stream the single and watch the video below.

Quotable Lyrics
At any chance, I get to try to make it right
I get caught up in my old ways, creeping through the nigh
My plight, lust or love had me blinded in pursuit
Was looking for a change of pace so that’s what brings me to you

Goodwill Is Reportedly Removing Yeezys From Their Stores

Amid partnership terminations with Adidas, Balenciaga, and more, Ye f.k.a Kanye West will likely find it more difficult to sell his products. Goodwill has joined the list of companies and organizations that have removed their support for the Chicago rapper after antisemitic rants and controversial comments on race. They reportedly sent out a memo to their stores asking to throw out any Yeezy products currently in stock and remove the sale of Yeezy items from all online and physical stores.

Sean Zanni/Getty Images

The rumors come from a circulating image of the memo in question, where stores are informed of the decision. It details the procedure to be carried out when it comes to Yeezy products and also explains the motivation behind the decision.

“As we strive to maintain the most up to date product information on Elevated Brands available to sell,” the memo stated, “we are sensitive to current events and take action when designers and brands do not align with our Mission and RISE values.”

“We are currently removing the sale of Adidas Yeezy brand products from all channels, Retail Stores, Boutiques, eCommerce and Outlets, as well as from out Elevated Brands tool,” it continued.

The memo goes on to mention that Goodwill’s eCommerce division will not be accepting any Yeezy products and cease online sales of the product, while any Yeezy products found on store shelves must be removed and placed in a separate bag. It’s unclear what they’ll do with those shoes, as they are infamously expensive, but it’s unlikely that they’ll let them go to waste instead of giving them to those in need.

Many people on social media have slightly clowned Goodwill for their practice, claiming it’s not that deep or that they’re just doing it for attention. Even people who are firmly against Ye’s comments aren’t buying Goodwill’s decision. Regardless, it’s part of a larger trend that is also causing a lot of fan debate and discussion. While many companies are right to want to speak against Kanye’s bigotry (which he says have him “beat to a pulp”), many have questioned what effect these company statements really have in the first place and the motives behind jumping on an ever-developing headline cycle.

Stay tuned to HotNewHipHop for the newest updates on Kanye West’s public turmoil.

Speaking about his decision to reconcile after 11 years away in the film’s trailer, Burrows says: “If I don’t do it, I think I’m gonna probably think about it for the rest of time. I don’t know… the last Johnny I knew was Johnny [in] 2009. It strikes me as mighty surreal today – I’ve go no idea what to expect.”

An official synopsis reads: “Older and wiser, Johnny wants to reconcile and to reunite Razorlight’s classic line-up. But with former bandmates overseas and estranged, that might not be too easy. Fifteen years after they fell to pieces, will Razorlight be able to pick themselves back up?”

Back in January of this year, the four-piece revealed that they were working on a new full-length album. This summer, the group returned with a punky single called ‘Call Me Junior’. Details of Razorlight’s fifth studio record have not yet been shared.

Dolly Parton wants to reunite Led Zeppelin for her new rock album

Dolly Parton wants to reunite Led Zeppelin for a ‘Stairway To Heaven’ cover on the new rock album she’s promised to make.

Earlier this year, Parton made headlines when she was nominated for the 2022 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, but asked to be taken out of consideration for the honour.

In her explanation, Parton said that the nomination, which she eventually admitted she would accept if voted in, had “inspired me to put out a hopefully great rock ‘n’ roll album at some point in the future, which I have always wanted to do!”

With legendary producer Steve Albini offering his services to produce the album, it seems that Parton is actually set to follow through with the project.

In a new interview with Pollstar, the legendary singer revealed that she wants to record a new cover of ‘Stairway To Heaven’ for the album, and to reunite Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page and Robert Plant in the process.

Parton had previously covered the iconic track on her 2002 bluegrass album ‘Halos & Horns’.

Asked if she was working on the rock’n’roll album, she said: “Well, I am. When I got nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I thought, ‘Well, no better time to do it.’ I had always wanted to do it. My husband is a big hard rock ’n’ roll fan, and for years I thought, ‘One of these days I’d like to do an album mainly just for him, just to kind of do it.’

“When I got nominated, I thought, ‘Why not just go ahead and do it while the iron’s hot?  Maybe have some of the greats, the legends of rock ‘n’ roll sing along with me.’”

She added: “I’m gathering all that stuff and notifying a few people. When I get levelled out from finishing the movie [Run, Rose, Run], hopefully I’m going to have a real good album. I’m looking forward to it.”

Of her attempts to get Led Zeppelin back together, Parton added that her husband “did not like it” when she revealed plans to cover ‘Stairway To Heaven’, saying: “But I’m going to redo that really on the money. I did it kind of bluegrass-style when I did it; but when I do the rock album, I’m going to actually re-record it – and do it more true to the regular record.

“I’m trying to see if Robert Plant might sing on it. Maybe Jimmy Page might do the pick-up part on it.  I’m looking forward to dragging in some of the great classic people, girls and boys, to sing on some of the songs. I’m not far enough along to discuss who and what, but I am going to do an album.”

Elsewhere, last month saw Parton and Kelly Clarkson release a reimagined version of Parton’s iconic hit ‘9 to 5’. The updated duet of the song — which featured on the soundtrack of the 1980 film of the same name — was first previewed in March, at the premiere of the documentary Still Working 9 to 5. The documentary chronicles the lasting legacy of the film, which starred Parton alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.
