Adele raises a toast with synchronised swimmers in new music video for ‘I Drink Wine’

Adele has shared a new music video for ‘I Drink Wine’, a song lifted from her 2021 album ‘30’.

READ MORE: Adele – ‘30’ album review: dependable pop titan finally mixes things up

The seven-minute video was directed by Joe Talbot, and follows the singer-songwriter as she floats leisurely down a river with the titular beverage in-hand. Along the way, Adele meets a group of synchronised swimmers and courts a riverside fisherman, before emerging solo from the water beside a bed of floating flowers. Poet and author Olivia Gatwood and actor Jimmie Fails also make cameo appearances in the video. Watch below:

‘I Drink Wine’ is the third ‘30’ track to receive a music video, following visuals for the singles ‘Oh My God’ in January and ‘Easy On Me’ late last year. Speaking about the music video rollout in a tweet, Adele revealed that it was the first one filmed for the album. It arrives almost a year after ‘30’ was released, in November of 2021.

‘I Drink Wine’ was co-written by producer Greg Kurstin, who also contributed to Adele tracks ‘Hello’, ‘Million Years Ago’ and ‘Water Under the Bridge’. The ballad, which Adele revealed was originally 15-minutes long, was performed by the singer at this year’s BRIT Awards, where she took home three trophies for Album of the Year, Song of the Year (for ‘Easy On Me’), and Artist of the Year.

During her acceptance speech at the ceremony, Adele reflected on the nature of ‘30’, saying the follow-up to 2015’s ‘25’ made her “very proud for sticking to my guns and putting out an album that was about something so personal to me.”

In a three-star review of ’30’, NME wrote: “This devastating level of honesty means that, despite its more experimental moments, ‘30’ still winds up feeling like trademark Adele, in its own way, most of the time. And after fair accusations of playing it safe musically in the past, it’s refreshing to see the pop titan treading braver territory – even if the hit-rate isn’t 100 per cent.”

Nightwish vocalist Floor Jansen reveals cancer diagnosis, will undergo surgery

Nightwish singer Floor Jansen, who has fronted the Finnish symphonic metal band for almost a decade, has revealed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Jansen disclosed the news in a letter to fans that was shared to Twitter yesterday (October 26), saying she was diagnosed a little over two weeks ago and will undergo surgery today to remove the tumour. “My prognosis is very good,” Jansen wrote.

“It seems to be a non-aggressive cancer, which seems to not have spread. I will keep my breast. And I will be cancer free after this surgery, plus a local radiation treatment that will take place three months after this surgery, hopefully,” she continued, adding that she will “know more after the surgery to see if this positive prognosis stands”.

“The word cancer is a shocker. All that you found important in life before this diagnosis changes radically within minutes. Now I just want to be healthy again. I want to see my daughter grow into a woman; I want to live!” Jansen wrote.

“The scariest part of this diagnosis is that I thought I was healthy! I didn’t feel the cancer, I didn’t know it was there until I, as a 40+ woman, went to a standard mammogram checkup. Something many countries offer, for free even for the lucky ones.”

Jansen went on to use her statement to encourage regular screenings. “A mammogram is lifesaving! It’s uncomfortable and you might think that you won’t have something in your breasts anyway but GO!” she said. “And for the men reading this: remind your wife, girlfriend, mother, sister to geo and get checked. Even without the luxury I as a western woman experience with free mammogram checkups: GO!

“Luckily, there are many organizations that offer information about self-detection if you do not have access or funds for a mammogram,” Jansen added. “If I might inspire you to take good care of yourself, then something good will come out of this cancer diagnosis.”

Jansen concluded her letter by saying that if “all goes as planned” she will be “up and running” in time for a European tour Nightwish are planning to embark on from November 20. “I am optimistic since my prognosis is good! I promise to take good care of myself.”

Jansen joined Nightwish as a permanent member in 2013, after the band parted ways with previous vocalist Anette Olzon. Jansen made her recorded debut with Nightwish on their 2015 album ‘Endless Forms Most Beautiful’, and appeared again on their most recent album, 2020’s ‘Human. :II: Nature.’

Kanye West Blasts Jason Lee Amid Donda Academy Shut Down

Kanye West is not pleased about his Donda Academy reportedly shutting down. According to reports, families are wondering how to get their tuition money back from the California Christian private school after an email to parents informed them that the school will shut down for the remainder of the year.

Hollywood Unlocked obtained the email, which reads, “Dear Donda Academy Families- we hope this email finds you well. First we would like to express our gratitude for the community of families and scholars that Donda Academy brought together. However , at the direction of our Founder, Donda Academy will close for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year effective immediately. Thursday, October 27th. THERE IS NO SCHOOL TOMORROW.”

While parents are still concerned about their tuition money, the email continued, “Our leadership team will be working diligently to assist all families during this transition, ensuring that every scholar has what they need to succeed in their next community.” After HU founder Jason Lee posted the private email, Yé made his return to Instagram to blast the famous blogger

“JASON LEE,” he began the note. “Here’s the clout you’re looking for. My school is being shut down. You wanna help or hurt.” News of Donda Academy shutting down comes on the heels of corporations like Adidas, Foot Locker, Gap and CAA severing ties with the controversial rapper due to his anti-Semitic remarks.

It also comes less than a month after Lee revealed that he will no longer work for the Yeezy designer after his “White Lives Matter” outbursts. He told Page Six, “Very humble and thankful to Ye for the opportunity to work with him but that part of our relationship has come to an end,” And I don’t support this.”

In a separate post, Jason added, “Not sure if he has any friends left to tell him but this is utterly disappointing,” he wrote. “I’m going to exercise free speech and say, nobody black has ever said that white lives don’t matter. But when black people do this it just screams the need for white validation.”

The self-proclaimed culture critic has yet to respond to Kanye’s latest post. Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Drake and 21 Savage album ‘Her Loss’ delayed after producer Noah “40” Shebib contracts COVID

Drake and 21 Savage announced ‘Her Loss’ over the weekend. Its title and original release date appeared midway through the video for ‘Jimmy Cooks’, a track from Drake’s 2021 album ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ that features Savage.

While ‘Her Loss’ will mark the first full project that Drake and 21 Savage have collaborated on together, it’s far from the first time the pair have teamed up. Savage also appeared on Drake’s 2021 ‘Certified Lover Boy’ cut ‘Knife Talk’, while Drake featured on ‘Mr. Right Now’ from Savage and Metro Boomin‘s ‘Savage Mode II’ back in 2020.

‘Honestly, Nevermind’, Drake’s seventh studio album, arrived in June just a few hours after the rapper and singer announced it. In a three-star review, NME called the record “an unexpected elevation from the bland trap, R&B remakes and Drake’s melancholic attitude to love we heard last time around”.

“He doesn’t quite shift the latter as much as one would hope – the album is as tiresomely woe-is-me as anything he’s ever done – but the house sound has at least given him the creative boost that his recording career has been crying out for recently.”
