Billy Bragg to celebrate 40 years of music and massive new box set

Billy Bragg has announced a new box set to mark his four decades in music, ‘The Roaring Forty’ – find all the details below.

The singer-songwriter and left-wing activist is due to release the career-spanning collection on October 27. Its deluxe CD version will comprise 14 discs, with the vinyl edition coming as a 3xLP (40 tracks) or a single ‘primer’ LP (13 tracks).

According to a press release, the 300-song CD box set is made up of Bragg’s 12 studio albums to date as well as a host of non-album singles and B-sides, session tracks, rare live recordings, collaborations and previously unreleased material from the past 40 years.

It also boasts a large format book containing images of 40 significant objects from the musician’s career, including his debut NME cover, the hand-tinted flyer to his first solo gig, the original lyrics to ‘A Lover Sings’, the Red Wedge manifesto, his membership card to the Smokey Robinson & The Miracles fan club, along with with commentary from Bragg himself.

In a statement, Bragg recalled of first starting out: “It seems like just the other day that I was handing John Peel a mushroom biryani and asking him to play my first record. The music business has changed dramatically since then, but my belief in the power of the song is undimmed.”

In the early 80s, I realised if I wanted to hear music that said something about the state of the world, I’d have to make it myself. To mark my 40th anniversary, I’ve compiled a number of commemorative releases spanning my career since then. Pre-order: https://t.co/BuRCFT8RJS pic.twitter.com/Or2sN0JqVh

Drake on how Lil Wayne got his name quite wrong when they first met

Drake has spoken out about how Lil Wayne got his name wrong when they first met.

READ MORE: Drake and 21 Savage – ‘Her Loss’ review: exciting prospect marred by lazy songwriting

The pair collaborated on the track ‘Ransom’ in 2008, with the latter rapping about Drake’s email address.

And I think his name was kinda like ‘Drake Drizzy Rogers’ / Or ‘Drizzy Drake Rogers,’ I’m too busy to play father,” Wayne rapped on the song, not realising that Rogers wasn’t actually his last name but his email provider. Drake’s actual name is Aubrey Graham.

Speaking in a new interview on the debut episode of Lil Yachty’s A Moody Conversation interview series, Drake explained the the mix up. “My email was drizzydrake@rogers.com, Rogers was the service provider in Canada and [Wayne] didn’t realize the ‘at’ in the email was like a middle interference,” he said.

“He just thought my name was Drizzy Drake Rogers. I mean he rapped it once, I just didn’t have the heart to correct him.”

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Drake’s armed guards allegedly refused a subpoena issued to the rapper in relation to the murder of XXXtentacion.

According to the Miami Herald, Mauricio Padilla, lawyer for Dedrick Williams, one of the three men accused of murdering XXXTentacion, issued a motion requiring Drake (real name Aubrey Graham) to deliver a deposition later this month.

Padilla alleged that when an attempt was made to deliver the subpoena outside Drake’s California home on February 14, guards not only closed the gates in the face of the servers, but also kicked the subpoena down the driveway.

XXXtentacion (real name Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy) was killed in a shooting at the age of 20 as he left a car dealership in Miami, Florida in June of 2018.

Elsewhere, Wayne recently revealed that he hasn’t eaten fast food in decades, and that it’s been so long since he’s had a McDonald’s meal that he doesn’t know what it smells like.

The Kid LAROI imagines life as an ageing rock star in ‘I Guess It’s Love?’ video

The Kid LAROI has shared a new single called ‘I Guess It’s Love?’ – check out the official video below.

The song will appear on the 19-year-old Australian rapper/singer’s forthcoming debut studio album, ‘The First Time’.

READ MORE: The Kid LAROI at Reading Festival 2021: a tyke fooling around in his playpen

Directed by Helmi, the visuals for ‘I Guess It’s Love’ present a satirical portrait of the life and relationship of an ageing rock star in Hollywood.

The DIY-looking clip contains footage of LAROI – real name Charlton Kenneth Jeffrey Howard – spending time with his influencer girlfriend Katarina Deme. We see the pair jumping on a trampoline, running around a tennis court, kissing in bed and more.

At one point, the video takes a turn as LAROI’s face is suddenly transformed with an OTT surgery job and dodgy goatee. Deme later reveals that her breasts have inflated before it becomes apparent that she’s received a botched facelift of her own.

The visuals depict the couple’s life as they grow older in the limelight and eventually get married. To end the clip, a message confirms that LAROI will soon share another single, ‘What Just Happened’, and announce the release date for ‘The First Time’.

Watch the ‘I Guess It’s Love?’ video in full above.

‘The First Time’ will follow on from LAROI’s mixtape series ‘F*ck Love’. He dropped the track ‘I Can’t Go Back To The Way It Was (Intro)’ last month, before sharing the single ‘Love Again’ shortly afterwards.

Meanwhile, The Kid LAROI is scheduled to embark on a run of US headline dates next month. You can find any remaining tickets here.

Official Images Of The Nike Air Max 97 “Be True”

Every year, Nike celebrates the LGBTQIA2S+ community throughout the entirety of Pride Month. And while the celebration has long come to an end, the brand’s “Be True” sneakers are not quite done paying homage, as the collection has just unveiled an Air Max 97 by way of official images.

As is custom, the Nike Air Max 97 “Be True” is unabashedly bold in its colorway, flaunting a rainbow-like range of hues through its frilled accents. Additional nods are applied to the insole, heel, and packaging, the latter of which is also done up in a series of playful graphics.

The Nike Air Max Plus Utility Returns In “White/Red”

The Nike Air Max Plus Utility is amongst the brand’s more obscure propositions, but it should spend more time in the spotlight given the silhouette’s 25th anniversary.

Ahead of spring, the outdoors-inspired take on Sean McDowell’s design from 1998 appeared in a simple white and red color scheme. Honeycomb-patterned mesh across the upper takes on a clean “colorless” look that allows for the slightest contrast to steal the spotlight. Palm tree-reminiscent TPU overlays along the sides are replaced with flush fuse panels. Instead, speed lacing offers support at the profiles, injecting a touch of off-road aesthetics in the process. Swoosh logos on the sides and top of the tongue introduce vibrant ruby flair into the mix; mid-foot shanks and Air Max and Tuned Air units follow suit. Lastly, outsoles favor an off white hue that complements the rest of the Air Max Plus well.

Enjoy official images of the pair ahead as you wait for firm nike.com launch details.

Latto Addresses Rumors That She’s A “Mistress”

Latto clearly has a point to prove these days, just not one that’s worth proving to the public. The rapper managed to keep her personal life under wraps. However, it’s only led to further speculations surrounding who she’s dating. Some feel as though she and 21 Savage have been together discreetly, though neither has publicly claimed the other. Still, a few people closest to them have suggested otherwise. Lil 21 Harold acknowledged them as a cute couple, leading to speculation that the two rappers are in a relationship.

Still, Latto and 21 Savage have blatantly denied being with each other. Over the weekend, she sparked speculation after she showed off a meal she prepared for her mystery man, while also referring to herself as a “wife.” Even though the video was intended to highlight her culinary skills, she ultimately faced a barrage of questions surrounding her relationship status with 21 Savage. She denied it, once again, but some felt the reason she hasn’t unveiled her partner’s identity is that she might be playing the role of a mistress.

Latto Clashes With Barb

I whole ass LIVE w my man Ion even CUM 2nd! Yall need to get off them tea pages & go touch grass! My privacy is driving u up a wall Mistress to who? Why they don’t see the cars, diamonds, etc? Cause yall know Im spoiled 2 DEATH! Uon know me & Uon got it figured out like AT ALL https://t.co/1or8eeWRnU

— BIG LATTO (@Latto) February 28, 2023

Once again, Latto found herself clashing with folks on the Internet. This time, it was a Barb that infuriated her with a passive-aggressive congratulatory message surrounding her latest Billboard charting hit record “Lottery” ft. Lu Kala. The Twitter user noted that it was Latto’s first record to hit the Hot 100 in over a year, leading to the back-and-forth. “You want to talk about first like you haven’t been playing second as a mistress for 3 years,” the user wrote to Latto with a flurry of laughing emojis.

In response, Latto stated that people are obsessed with her personal life while slamming the notion of being a mistress to anyone. “I whole ass LIVE w my man Ion even CUM 2nd! Yall need to get off them tea pages & go touch grass! My privacy is driving u up a wall,” she wrote. “Mistress to who? Why they don’t see the cars, diamonds, etc? Cause yall know Im spoiled 2 DEATH! Aubrey Plaza’s Stylist Says She “Wanted Underboob” While Defending SAG Awards Look

This year’s SAG Awards ceremony was a celebration of some of the best in movies and TV. Unfortunately, one awkward onstage moment has been overshadowing many of the others. While the cast of The White Lotus was accepting their prize for Best Ensemble, Aubrey Plaza was reportedly informed by a costar that her “boob [was] hanging out.” Of course, the crowd couldn’t see the starlet’s full chest. Still, her Michael Kors gown did show off a bit of underboob all throughout the evening.

At this time it remains unclear exactly what was said to Plaza during the speech. Whatever it was, the angry expression on her face made it evident she wasn’t pleased. Cameras also caught her muttering obscenities like “Shit’s f*cked” and “Jesus Christ,” causing a definite stir online as viewers at home tried to piece together the drama unfolding. On Monday (February 27), a source close to the 38-year-old actress was able to provide some context.

Aubrey’s SAG Awards Slip-Up

“[Her anger] was a direct result of her almost being elbowed in her face,” they previously told DailyMail. The near-injury took place as the many performers were shuffling around the stage. Many female stars were notably being pushed to the back of the group as older male actors like Michael Imperioli and F. Murray Abraham addressed the crowd. She was obviously upset on Sunday evening. Thankfully, Plaza has since shared a photo dump on Instagram celebrating the HBO series’ big win.

In the caption, she wrote, “Best cast ever! I love these people and am so proud of this show. Thank you @sagawards.” Throughout various photos we see her celebrating, trophy in hand, on the red carpet with The White Lotus‘ other stars. She also found time to pose for pictures with Wednesday starlet Jenna Ortega, as well as Parks & Recreation costar, Amy Poehler.

Stylist Jessica Paster Speaks Out

Elsewhere online, Plaza’s stylist, Jessica Paster, is coming to the Delaware native’s defense over the look. As hateful comments have come pouring in, specifically about the garment’s fit, she’s clapped back with her side of the story. “The straps could be better adjusted. I love the colour, and hair and makeup look amazing,” one Instagram user wrote following the SAG Awards.

“Did seven fittings… For real… I wanted underboob,” Paster dished in the replies, making it known she and her client were attempting to turn heads with the gown’s centre cutout. Let us know what you thought of Aubrey’s outfit in the comments, and see our full red carpet roundup from the annual event here.

Shannon Sharpe Rips Skip Bayless For His LeBron James Hypocrisy

Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless have gotten into their fair share of unique altercations while on Undisputed. Of course, none of these altercations are physical. They are simply some verbal jousting sessions that always seem to elicit a ton of reactions on social media. Overall, it is clear that Shannon and Skip are professionals who aren’t going to break up, anytime soon. Although some fans think that Shannon hates Skip, Sharpe has made it clear that this is not actually the case. Yet again, their supposed feud is just a case of social media getting ahead of itself.

Today, however, Shannon and Skip found themselves getting into yet another heated conversation. This time, it was centered around none other than LeBron James. The topic of conversation here was pretty simple. James is now out with a foot injury, and he could be gone for a couple of weeks. Overall, this is a huge blow to the Lakers’ playoff chances. However, Skip seems to think James is simply lying about his injury.

Shannon Sharpe Goes Off

Unc Shannon sharpe lost it after Skip bayless said Lebron James is lying about his injury pic.twitter.com/mrUQEeRbFZ

— Shannonnn sharpes Burner (PARODY Account) (@shannonsharpeee) February 28, 2023

As you can imagine, this set Shannon Sharpe off. Sharpe is a huge LeBron James fan, and at times, he has had some information about the Lakers star. In the clip above, you can see Sharpe raising his voice at Skip as he questions his co-host’s biases. Moreover, he calls out Bayless for being a huge hypocrite whenever it comes to LeBron. For instance, there was a time when Skip took Tom Brady’s surgery claims at face value. Although, he will not do the same thing for LeBron. Subsequently, Skip questioned Sharpe in regard to what he knows about the injury. He even said that Rich Paul controls the narrative when it comes to LeBron and that we cannot trust the Klutch Sports camp.

Overall, Sharpe was not having it, and it made for a very entertaining segment. However, it has become obvious that Bayless has an agenda as it pertains to the Lakers superstar. At this point, his views will not change, no matter how much Shannon yells at him. Let us know what you thought of this clip, in the comments below. NBA YoungBoy & Birdman Move Forward With “Baller Blockin 2”

NBA YoungBoy and Birdman are moving ahead on the sequel to the cult classic film, Baller Blockin. On Sunday, it was announced that Clifton Bell would be joining the movie as the director. He’s previously worked on videos with J. Cole, T.I., Rick Ross, The Roots, Bobby Shmurda, Gucci Mane, and many more. Most recently, he teamed up with Latto for “Sex Lies” with Lil Baby.

YoungBoy and Birdman first announced they were working on the film on social media in October by teasing a poster for the sequel. Featuring the title in bold red, it also contains the city of New Orleans in the background. While YoungBoy hails from Baton Rouge, Birdman was born and raised in New Orleans.

Baller Blockin was released in December 2000, detailing life in the city’s notorious Magnolia Projects. The original movie starred Lil Wayne, Juvenile, B.G., Turk, Mannie Fresh, Birdman, and more. The Cash Money Millionaires handled the soundtrack. Nas, E-40, UGK, 8Ball & MJG, and Mack 10 also contributed to the songs released for Baller Blockin.

While Lil Wayne starred in the first film, Birdman recently noted that there are a lot of similarities between YoungBoy and the legendary rapper. Speaking with Billboard, he explained: “Watching how fast he do music and the value of the music, I saw a lot of similarities between him and Wayne. I seen stardom in him, but I knew it was a process.”

On the music front, YoungBoy released his first album of 2023, I Rest My Case, last month. The 19-track project is the rapper’s first release through Motown since joining the label in October. It features production from Jason “Cheese” Goldberg, alongside D-Roc, DJ Trebble, Dmac, Kid Krazy, Powers Pleasant, TnTXD, Wayv, and Yo Benji. The album debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 after moving 29,000 copies in its first week.

Fredo Bang Flirts With GloRilla On Instagram Live

With GloRilla fresh out of her major breakout year, it’s not surprising for her to receive love offers from her male counterparts. Surely they’re fans like the rest of us after getting to know the animated rapper through her socials. In October 2022, Kodak Black jumped on Glo’s Live in an effort to get her attention, using her own lyrics to flirt with the rising star. Now, Fredo Bang has entered the chat, and he has no shame as he clamors for GloRilla’s love, too.

The Shade Room caught wind of the “One Up” rhymer’s comments during her latest live. Bang made multiple plays at the CMG signee, starting with a comment about her lips. As it went seemingly unnoticed, Fredo continued on with a few vows to prove he’s committed. “I’ll be crazy about you…I’ll never hold you [back],” he alleges. He even goes on to serenade the “Better Thangs” feature with a line from 21 Savage’s “Spin About U,” verse. Still, GloRilla seemed to pay no mind as he asked “What’s yo [finsta f**k] yo main page i wanna know the real you.”

Fredo Bang Makes A Play Towards GloRilla Online

”It’s like the industry men [are] in a race to see who can get to her first [eye-rolling emoji,” one user noted. Others questioned his validity seeing he’s made advances to others in the past, including Reginae Carter. In a reminder to GloRilla, another fan wrote “Girl remember why you made that track FNF in the first place.” Glo has yet to respond to Fredo, but if he’s anything like the men she speaks about from her past, he may want to pack it up. The “On Wat U On” rapper has rules now, which include receiving money from her suitor prospects.

During On The Come Up interview, GloRilla explains how she “felt free for once” after ditching toxic men. “I wasn’t messed up by no dude, I wasn’t worried bout ‘em. I felt single and free,” she adds, which led to the creation of her inaugural single. In tweets from November, GloRilla reveals her and a friend took part in 60-day cleanse prior to recording the song. The women went two months without indulging in vices “because we said we couldn’t go into 2022 the same way we did last year.” This also included working out five days a week and upping their water intake.

Drake & J. Cole To Headline Dreamville Fest 2023: Full Line-Up

Dreamville Fest continues to grow each year into one of those events you don’t want to miss out on. Over the years, they’ve brought out some incredible talent while highlighting the Dreamville roster. J. Cole rightfully takes on the headlining slots, but he ensures that fans have a full experience throughout the two-day events. The festival launched in 2018, though it faced delays that year due to Hurricane Florence. However, despite the minor delay, Dreamville Festival became an annual staple in Raleigh, NC.

The 2022 installment came with plenty of momentum as J. Cole and Dreamville delivered D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape, hosted by DJ Drama, just days before. The two-day event boasted appearances from acts like Fivio Foreign, Moneybagg Yo, Lil Baby, and WizKid. Along with J. Cole, DJ Drama hosted a special Gangsta Grillz set alongside Lil Wayne, Jeezy and T.I. for his headlining slot. Evidently, they continue to raise the bar year after year with impressive rosters that lead to viral moments.

Dreamville Fest 2023: Drake, J. Cole & Usher Headline

Today, Dreamville formally announced the line-up for the 2023 installment which takes place on April 1st and 2nd. The first night will include a headlining spot from Usher. However, Cole will close out this year’s Dreamville Festival with a bang. Drake and J. Cole will share the stage on April 2nd for a co-headlining set at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, North Carolina. Though the two have brought each other out on numerous occasions, the co-headlining set will be a first in both of their careers. Perhaps, this could be a sign that they have a new collaboration on the horizon.

Besides the headlining acts, Dreamville Fest 2023 will be filled with exciting performances across the two days. Several artists from Dreamville, including Ari Lennox, EarthGang, Lute and Omen, will take the stage on April 1st, while J.I.D, Bas and Cozz will hit the stage the following day. Bam Adebayo Calls Out Rudy Gobert & Marcus Smart

Bam Adebayo has quickly become one of the most beloved players on the Miami Heat. Overall, he is one of those players who is a huge factor in the success of his team. During that NBA bubble run in 2020, Adebayo was able to show people exactly what he can on the floor. Although the Heat have yet to get back to the NBA Finals since then, Adebayo has still been fantastic. While there have been some inconsistencies here and there, there is no doubt that Adebayo is part of a Heat core that will last a very long time.

When people think about Adebayo, they think about his defense. There have been multiple seasons as of late in which people felt like he should have been defensive player of the year. However, he has yet to win the award. Instead, the honor was given to Rudy Gobert in 2021. Subsequently, Marcus Smart got the award back in 2022. As it turns out, Adebayo is not very happy about this. At the end of the day, he believes that he is the rightful owner of those awards.

The Heat star made this revelation while speaking to Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report. As you can see up above, he believes he is better because he can defend every single position on the court. Overall, he believes Marcus Smart cannot guard the center position. Moreover, he noted that Rudy Gobert does not defend well in the playoffs as his style doesn’t “translate.” These were some very strong words, and we’re sure Smart and Gobert were less than impressed with what they were hearing. It’s a fair way to feel when you are being called out for seemingly no reason.

When you make these kinds of comments, you have to find a way to back them up. Consequently, there is going to be pressure on Adebayo to perform over these last few weeks. This is especially true as the Heat are on a bit of a losing skid. Let us know what you think of his comments, down below.
