The Nike Air Max 1 celebrated its 35th anniversary in style over the last 11 months. And before the year closes, Tinker Hatfield’s revolutionary design has taken on yet another ensemble referencing the Nike Dunk’s “Ugly Duckling” collection from 2001.
Crafted with premium suede materials, the upcoming sneakers boast a color combination that invokes the aforementioned collection’s “Ceramic” pair: “Kumquat” and “Honeydew” animate mudguards, profile swooshes, and other supporting accents, while “Black” and “Anthracite” cover the majority of the Air Max‘s center panels. The cushioning and traction solution underfoot maintains a relatively straightforward arrangement, with midsoles favoring a “White” look. Visible Airbags and waffle-patterned tread revert to “Honeydew” flair. Lastly, a duck figure is embroidered onto each shoes’ spine, rounding out the “Ugly Duckling” theme.
