Jordan Davis‘ “Buy Dirt,” featuring Luke Bryan, lands at No. 1 on Billboard‘s airplay-, streaming- and sales-based Hot Country Songs chart and the Country Airplay survey (both dated Jan. 29).

Davis earns his first leader on Hot Country Songs and his third on Country Airplay. Bryan ups his totals to 12 and 26 No. 1s on the respective lists.

Davis co-wrote “Dirt” with his brother Jacob and another sibling duo, Josh and Matt Jennings.

“The minute we finished this song, we knew we had to get it to Luke,” Shreveport, La., native Davis, 33, says. “It was an honor to have him want to be a part of it. I’m so thankful for my [co-]writers, my fans and country radio for supporting this song. It takes an army to have these songs connect the way this one has, and I am so blessed to have the team I do. My promotion team, management and label have believed in my music from day one, and I’m so glad that we all get to celebrate a really special song.”

The traditional, life-lesson song reaches the Hot Country Songs summit in its 34th week on the chart. It drew 7.4 million U.S. streams and sold 3,300 downloads in the tracking week ending Jan. 20, according to MRC Data. It ascends to the Country Airplay penthouse in its 28th week with a 9% gain to 27.7 million audience impressions in the week ending Jan. 23.

Davis boasts three additional Hot Country Songs top 10s. He last reached the region with the No. 7-peaking “Almost Maybes” in July 2021. His first leader is from his six-song EP Buy Dirt, which arrived at its No. 11 high on Top Country Albums last June.

Davis previously topped Country Airplay with his maiden entry, “Singles You Up,” for a week in April 2018 and “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot” for a frame in April 2020.

Bryan leads Hot Country Songs for the first time since “Strip It Down” began a six-week reign in October 2015. He banks his sixth consecutive Country Airplay No. 1, a run that started with “Knockin’ Boots” in September 2014 and continued through his last unaccompanied leader, “Waves,” for two weeks in September. He first topped Country Airplay with “Rain Is a Good Thing” in July 2010.

With his latest coronation, Bryan ties George Strait for the fourth-most No. 1s on Country Airplay, which began in January 1990. Kenny Chesney leads with 31, followed by Tim McGraw (29) and Blake Shelton (28).

Concurrently, Bryan’s latest solo single, “Up,” ranks at No. 27, a new best, on Country Airplay with 4.7 million in audience.

Meanwhile, Davis and Bryan’s simultaneous takeover atop Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay marks the first time that a song has risen to No. 1 for its first week atop both tallies in the same week since Niko Moon’s “Good Time” last March.
