Samuel L. Jackson has taken issue with Quentin Tarantinoâs recent comments on Marvel actors not being âmovie stars.â Jackson, who has worked with Tarantino and Marvel on many occasions, spoke about the criticism during an interview on The View.
Tarantino argued that the characters being portrayed are the stars of the films, rather than the actors playing them.
âIt takes an actor to be those particular characters, and the sign of movie stardom has always been, what, asses in seats?â Jackson said, before asking, âWhat are we talking about?â

âThatâs not a big controversy for me to know that apparently these actors are movie stars. Chadwick Boseman is Black Panther. You canât refute that, and heâs a movie star,â Jackson further added.
Tarantino had originally spoken about Marvel films on a recent episode of the 2 Bears, 1 Cave podcast.
âYou have all these actors who have become famous playing these characters,â the legendary director said firstly. âBut theyâre not movie stars. Right? Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean, Iâm not the first person to say that. I think thatâs been said a zillion times⌠but itâs like, you know, itâs these franchise characters that become a star.â
Tarantino and Jackson have collaborated on numerous films together over the years. Jackson appeared in Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Django Unchained, as well as more of Tarantinoâs movies. As for Marvel, Jackson has made several appearances as Nick Fury in MCU films over the years.
Shang-Chi actor Simu Liu also hit back at Tarantino, as well as Martin Scorsese, for the sentiment. Scorsese has made similar remarks as well.
âIf the only gatekeepers to movie stardom came from Tarantino and Scorsese, I would never have had the opportunity to lead a $400 million plus movie,â he tweeted afterward.
Check out Jacksonâs response to Tarantino below.

Welcome to another controversial hot take courtesy of Boosie Badazz. The Lousiana icon often uses platforms to share his unfiltered views on pop culture. Moreover, Boosie is known for dropping by VladTV, where he expounds on his thoughts. Once again, he sits down with the platform for a discussion poised to go viral, and on time, we have an interesting opinion about Jay-Z.
Boosie says when he goes to the clubs catering to 25 to 35-year-olds in Atlanta, heâs not hearing Nas or Jay-Z. âEvery club that I go in, itâs not one or the other,â says the rapper. âIâm outside!â
Boosie continued: âJay-Z is respected by these people for being that boss that he is. When Jay-Z flash âcross that motherf*cker, itâs somethinâ with a billion dollars. Itâs somethinâ with a $500 billion, $200 billion⌠It ainât no song slashinâ âcross social media. Itâs his hustle!â
The topic of Rap veterans and their relevance to the current Hip Hop culture has been a hot topic lately. Things kicked off after a clip of 21 Savage on Clubhouse went viral. In the audio, 21 stated Nas wasnât relevant anymore, causing a firestorm reaction among fans. After explaining that he respects Nas, the two rappers joined forces on âOne Mic, One Gun.â
Meanwhile, while speaking with VladTV, Boosie continued to double down that he doesnât hear any Hov or Nasir Jones tracks being played in clubs. DJ Vlad argued that when DJ Khaled delivered âGod Didâ with a lengthy Jay-Z verse, âHip Hop stopped.â Vlad added, âThey all listened. Everyone had something to say about that verse. That verse was tough.â
Still, Boosie seemed unmoved. Elsewhere during the conversation, Boosie also touched on Nasâs relevancy, as well. Check out that clip below.
