Quoting a tweet from two years ago in which he first raised the idea, the Charlatans frontman confirmed on Sunday (November 27) that it is now “a real life thing” and he is “working on this today”.

His original tweet suggested that the book could be named ‘Closer’, adding, “I’d deffo read it, maybe I should write it”.

Earlier this month, Burgess released the second volume of The Listening Party, a series of books that are a spin-off from his popular #TimsTwitterListeningParty run where artists provide track-by-track online commentary on new and classic albums on Twitter.

Previously, he has released an autobiography named Telling Stories, a travel book called Tim Book Two, as well as One Two Another, a collection of Burgess’ lyrics.

Burgess also released his sixth solo album ‘Typical Music’ this September, a 22-track opus that NME described as “something akin to Spotify becoming self-aware and blaring out a high-density beam of cult indie pop from its mouth for 90-odd minutes.”

Circa Waves share new single ‘Carry You Home’ and announce intimate album launch shows

Circa Waves have released their new single ‘Carry You Home’ – watch the video for the new song below.

The Liverpool band have also announced that they will play a run of seven intimate shows across the UK in January and February. They’re also currently gearing up to release their fifth studio album, ‘Never Going Under‘, on January 13 on Lower Third/PIAS.

‘Carry You Home’ follows on from previous singles ‘Do You Wanna Talk‘ and ‘Hell on Earth‘, the latter of which was part of a surprise EP of the same name last summer.

According to the band’s frontman Kieran Shudall, this new material marks “the start of a new era” for the band.

Speaking about the record, frontman Kieran Shudall explained: “‘Never Going Under’ speaks to that uniquely modern phenomenon of genuinely not knowing what type of world our kids are going to find themselves in in 30 years.

“Physically, environmentally, politically we are completely in the unknown. That scares us all but ultimately we know we can never give up on the future because how can you?”

He continued: “The songs on the album are written differently from the previous work we’ve put out. They are written from the perspective of my son and also from my own current experience of the climate today.

“Circa waves have always had a certain world view, but now it’s through that lens of being a Father and still not knowing what the hell is going on. ‘Never Going Under’ is a snapshot of the fear we all feel today and the resilience we will need to get through it.”

Speaking of their forthcoming tour, he added: “We really wanna see you all close up for some really, really small intimate rock n roll shows. It’s gonna get sweaty and loud. See you down the front!”

Ville Valo on the chances of a HIM reunion

Ville Valo has addressed the possibility of a reunion of his band HIM.

The Finnish singer, who releases his debut solo album ‘Neon Noir‘ in January, was recently talking on ‘The James McMahon Music Podcast‘ about his former group, who split up in 2017.

“Never say never, I’d say,” said Valo. “HIM was so much more than just a band to me.”

“If there would be a good reason, a good sort of idea or good cause, or if, all of a sudden, everybody would start to gravitate towards each other, I think that would be the best thing.”

HIM, who originally formed in 1991, released eight studio albums together, before announcing in 2017 that they had decided to disband.

“I met Migé [bassist Mikko Paananen] when I was about 12 and Linde [guitarist Mikko Lindström] when I was maybe 13 or 14,” Valo continued. “So we grew up together and went through so many different phases in our lives anyway together, with HIM providing the soundtrack for it and the focus.”

HIM, which originally stood for ‘His Infernal Majesty’, sold over 10million records globally and became identified with a style of music known as ‘love metal’.

Valo, who now records under the name VV, is set to release his first solo album ‘Neon Noir’ on January 13 on Heartagram, which will include the recent singles ‘Echolocate Your Love’, ‘Loveletting’ and ‘The Foreverlost’.

Speaking to Kerrang! about the record, Vallo said: “Doing this album, and doing it the way I did it, gave me a chance to reflect, in a way, or to have a different perspective of who I am or what I want to do and what I have done and what can be done better, and so forth. Which then ended up being basically doing exactly the same thing I had before.”

The release of ‘Neon Noir’ will be followed by a lengthy tour of Europe and the UK. Tickets for the tour are on sale now. See the full list of dates below and pick up tickets for the UK dates here and European shows here.
