K-Will finds scoring touch, leads Tropang Giga to doorstep of league’s crown jewel

Kelly Williams recalls enjoying what was a brief retirement two years ago, unmindful of the possibility of playing a starring role in a PBA Finals game. “Less than two years ago, I was sitting on my couch eating Doritos,” said the former Most Valuable Player, who returned to the TNT camp in March 2021 when […]

Nick Cave narrates audiobook of upcoming memoir ‘Faith, Hope And Carnage’

Nick Cave has announced an audiobook to accompany his new memoir Faith, Hope And Carnage, which he also narrates.

The artist’s upcoming work is based on 40 hours of interviews between Cave and his friend, the Observer journalist Seán O’Hagan, and is released on September 20. It’s not clear if the audiobook is released on the same day – you can pre-order it in the UK here.

Faith, Hope And Carnage will cover Cave’s perspective and personal life over the six years following the death of his son, Arthur, who died in July 2015 at the age of 15. Cave also lost his 31-year-old son, Jethro Lazenby, earlier this year.

Cave narrates along with O’Hagan the audiobook, which was recorded so that the listener – when wearing headphones – is hearing the speech as though they’re sitting between Cave and O’Hagan. Listen to a snippet below.

The audiobook was co-directed and co-produced by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, who collaborated with Cave previously on the film 20,000 Days on Earth [via Pitchfork].

Faith, Hope And Carnage was recorded by Adam Devenney and Michael Pender at Red Apple Creative in London. Musical codas and elements from Cave’s albums ‘Carnage‘ (with Warren Ellis, 2021), ‘Skeleton Tree‘ (with The Bad Seeds, 2016) and ‘Ghosteen‘ (also with The Bad Seeds, 2019) are included throughout the recording.

The audiobook closes with a 12-minute additional conversation between Cave and O’Hagan about the process of recording the book.

“Working with Nick over the years has had a fundamental impact on who we are, on how we are,”’ Forsyth and Pollard said in a statement.

“For this audiobook we wanted to give you a direct experience—a seat at the table with Nick and Seán – two incandescent minds trying to just figure things out. Intimate, adventurous, faltering and fearless, these conversations will open your mind and heal your heart.”

Meanwhile, Cave and Jarvis Cocker have been announced to appear at the Cheltenham Literature Festival 2022 this autumn.

Set to take place from October 7-16, the event in Gloucestershire will welcome “the world’s foremost writers, thinkers and performers… for a jam-packed week of fascinating discussion and unforgettable memories”.

Last month, Cave and Warren Ellis shared their full list of dates for a tour of their native Australia in support of their collaborative 2021 album ‘Carnage’ – see here for dates.

Editors share strutting new single ‘Vibe’ from upcoming album ‘EBM’

Editors have shared ‘Vibe’, another cut from their seventh album ‘EBM‘.

READ MORE: Song Stories – Editors on their long-lost single ‘Magazine’

The strutting new song follows on from June’s ‘Karma Climb‘ and and April’s ‘Heart Attack‘. It features on the band’s first album since 2018, which is released on September 23.

Speaking about ‘Vibe’ [listen here], singer, guitarist and pianist Tom Smith said the track “takes up where ‘Frankenstein‘ [their 2019 single] left off, and is a hymn celebrating the night, and all that thrives in the dark”.

Editors are playing classics alongside material from their new album at their recently announced UK and European tour shows, which kicked off in Spain earlier this summer and wraps in Bristol next February.

The band will play gigs at London’s iconic Troxy, with further dates in Nottingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin and beyond in Europe. Any remaining tickets for the tour shows are available here.

‘EBM’ is the first Editors album with new band member Benjamin John Power (aka Blanck Mass) who was announced as a full-time member earlier this year.

Power (also of Fuck Buttons) previously worked with the band on their sixth album ‘Violence’, which was released in March 2018.

Meanwhile, NME was at this year’s Mad Cool where Editors were one of dozens of acts playing the Spanish festival. Sam Moore reported on their set, writing that band had fans in “the palm of their hand…drawing impressively big numbers to the festival’s modest-sized Region Of Madrid stage.

“The seasoned Birmingham band kick things off with their April single ‘Heart Attack’ before their synth-drenched 2009 track ‘Papillon’ inspires one big Mad Cool dance-off.”

He concluded: “Old favourites ‘An End Has A Start’, ‘Blood’ and ‘Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors’ carry on this good feeling as the set progresses, before the driving and still-sublime ‘Munich’ – which, we’re afraid to report, is now 17 years old (!) – ends the night on just the right note.”

Air Jordan Retro Summer 2023 Preview

Although 2022 still has four months left (and dozens of sneaker releases scheduled), several Air Jordan retros for Summer 2023 have entered the rumor mill.

Nostalgia sells and pairs like the Air Jordan 4 “Thunder” from 2006 are proof given that their rumored return after an 11-year-break has already led some netizens to express their need for the shoes on social media. Previously-seen color palettes also emerged as part of the anticipated lineup, which has been leaked by reliable source @zSneakerHeadz via YouTube: “White Infrared” takes over the Air Jordan 7; a “Toro Bravo” arrangement emboldens the Air Jordan 6; and the Air Jordan 13 is set to indulge in a “Black Flint” update to its beloved “Flint” look.

Pairs of the Air Jordan 1 are to be expected between April and June of 2023, with speculation about the holiday season’s Air Jordan 11 still unsettled. Recent years have seen Team Jumpman launch original colors of the patent leather-donning sneaker, although the “Cherry” retro set to drop on December 10th of this year interrupts the trend. According to @zSneakerHeadz, the sneaker’s “Columbia” colorway is on the table for 2023, but NIKE, Inc. may ultimately tweak the blue used on the pair to create some distinction between the originals from 1996.

Enjoy early mock-ups of the rumored retro lineup ahead, as you wait for official Nike.com and Nike SNKRS launch details. (As always, keep in mind that retail versions of products are likely to differ from unauthorized mock-ups of Brand Jordan product.)

Sage Elsesser’s Navy Blue Namesake Graces The Converse Fast Break

Iconized by his game-winning jumper in the 1982 National Championship game, the Converse Fast Break rode with Michael Jordan for a few years before he and The Swoosh teamed up for the very beginnings of what would become Jordan Brand. Over past decades, the basketball silhouette has also dubbed as a cult classic skate-ready model which is only being further cemented by multi-faceted creative Sage Elsesser’s latest collaboration.

The skateboarder and rapper known most notably as Navy Blue has worked in tandem with the Boston-based brand for years, celebrating their union with the colorway Jordan wore throughout the 1984 Olympic Games. Done up in a muted palette, a trio of tones takes the main stage amidst an aged beige nylon construction and white leather panels that grace the forefoot, heel and quarter. The remaining real estate is dressed in the tone of his namesake with “Navy Blue” coating the upper heel counter, mid-foot and tongue logo, outsole as well as accenting stitching presiding above a counteracting cream “CONVERSE” branded midsole. Rounding out the design elements Elsesser’s staple golden rose is embossed in the back tab for a hinted premium offering.

For a closer look at the upcoming Sage Elsesser x Converse Fast Break colorway, enjoy official images of the pair below ahead of its release this Friday September 2nd.

In other news, the New Balance 2002R is enjoying a treatment of “Orange Suede” for the start of the Fall 2022 calendar.

Chlöe Shares Cover Adina Howard’s “Freak Like Me”

Chlöe Bailey is setting the stage for her massive solo debut. Though Chlöe x Halle are still hitting the stage together, the older sister of the duo has unleashed a ton of new music in the past year that has fans both excited and curious to hear where she’ll be heading next.

Today, she came through with some stripped-down singles for Spotify Singles. First, she tackles Anita Howard’s “Freak Like Me” which she initially debuted during her performance at the BET Awards earlier this year. Clearly, she heard the demand for a full version.

The second record released under Spotify Singles is a stripped-down version of Chlöe’s new single, “Surprise.”

Check both songs out below and let us know which one is your favorite in the comments.

Quotable Lyrics
You like the way that I ride
Give you a piece of the pie
You say that you could just stay up and eat it all morning and into the night
