Taylor Swift Calls ‘I Bet You Think About Me’ the ‘Drinking Song’ of ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’

There’s not a single reference to alcohol in the lyrics, but Taylor Swift’s “I Bet You Think About Me” is meant to have the vibe of a drinking song, she revealed with a laugh in a new interview about the country-leaning takedown of an ex that was recorded for Red (Taylor’s Version) with Chris Stapleton.

The “From the Vault” tune, one of several that were new to fans with the Nov. 12 release of Swift’s re-recorded Red album, is getting an extra push this week with a Blake Lively-directed music video that’s set to premiere on Monday (Nov. 14) at 10 a.m. ET.

But before Swift announced the surprise visual for “I Bet You Think About Me,” on which Stapleton provides harmonies, she spoke to country radio about the story behind the song that was written more than a decade ago.

Boston-area radio station Country 102.5 tweeted an audio clip of Swift speaking about “I Bet You Think About Me” — and what her intentions were when writing it back in June 2011 with Lori McKenna.

“This is a song I wrote with Lori McKenna, who’s one of my favorite sing-songwriters ever. I’d always wanted to work with her … I wrote this with her at her house when I was playing Foxboro [Gillette Stadium] on the Speak Now Tour,” Swift said in the clip, setting the scene.

“We wanted this song to be like a comedic, tongue-in-cheek, funny, not caring what anyone thinks about you sort of breakup song because there are a lot of different types of heartbreak songs on Red — some of them are very sincere, some of them very stoic and heartbreaking and sad — we wanted this to be the moment where you’re like, ‘I don’t care about anything,’” she explained of the meaning behind “I Bet You Think About Me.”

Swift concluded, “We wanted to kind of make people laugh with it, and we wanted it to be sort of a drinking song. I think that that’s what it ended up being.”

She teased the upcoming music video for the song on social media Sunday morning, sharing a short clip of a hand tearing through what looks to be a red velvet wedding cake. A video still on YouTube shows Swift in a fancy red gown, performing alongside her red-lit band. (If you look very closely, that music video band possibly includes Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff.)

Listen to her talk about writing “I Bet You Think About Me” — and check out the lyric video, before the official music video makes its debut — below.

Summer Walker Earns First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart With ‘Still Over It’

Summer Walker earns her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as the singer’s second studio LP, Still Over It, arrives atop the list. The 20-track set was released on Nov. 5 and launches with 166,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Nov. 11, according to MRC Data. Over 90% of the album’s first-week units were driven by streaming activity. Still Over It marks both the first R&B album by a woman to top the Billboard 200 in more than five years and the largest streaming week ever for an R&B album by a woman.

Also in the top 10, ABBA returns with the group’s highest-charting album ever – and first top 10 – as its new studio album, Voyage, bows at No. 2. Plus, rapper Key Glock lands his highest-charting set, as Yellow Tape 2 begins at No. 7.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Nov. 20, 2021-dated chart (where Still Over It debuts at No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard’s website on Nov. 16. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram. Of Still Over It’s 166,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Nov. 11, SEA units comprise 153,000 (equaling 201.1 million on-demand streams of the set’s tracks), album sales comprise 12,000 and TEA units comprise 1,000 units.

Still Over It is Walker’s third top 10 on the Billboard 200. It follows her 2020 EP, Life on Earth (No. 8), and her debut full-length studio album, Over It, in 2019 (No. 2). Over It has spent more than 100 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart and finished 2020 as the No. 2 title on Billboard’s year-end Top R&B Albums recap. The set has earned over 2.5 million equivalent album units in the U.S.

The new album was announced on Oct. 4 and led by the single “Ex for a Reason,” with JT (of City Girls). The track debuted at No. 6 on the Hot R&B Songs chart and in the top 20 of Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (both dated Oct. 30).

Let’s take a look at some of the feats that Walker achieves with the debut of Still Over It:

First No. 1 R&B Album by a Woman in Over Five Years: Still Over It is the first R&B album by a woman to top the Billboard 200 since Solange’s A Seat at the Table ruled for one week on Oct. 22, 2016-dated chart. The last R&B album by any artist to be No. 1 on the Billboard 200 was The Weeknd’s After Hours, more than a year ago; it logged its fourth and final week at No. 1 on the April 25, 2020 chart. (R&B albums are defined as those that have hit Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart.)

Still Over It also logs the biggest week, by units earned, for an R&B album by a woman since Beyoncé’s Lemonade earned 202,000 units in its third week (May 28, 2016 chart). (Lemonade bowed with 653,000 units and then earned 321,000 units in its second week.)

Biggest Week for an R&B Album in 2021: Still Over It scores the biggest week, by units, for an R&B album in 2021. The last R&B set to tally a larger week was The Weeknd’s After Hours (444,000 in its debut week; April 4, 2020 chart).

Largest Streaming Week Ever for an R&B Album by a Woman: Still Over It bows with 153,000 SEA units – totaling 201.1 million on-demand streams of the album’s tracks. It earns the largest streaming week ever for an R&B album by a woman, surpassing Walker’s own Over It (154.7 million in its debut week).

Still Over It also captures the second-biggest streaming week ever for any R&B album, trailing only the debut frame of The Weeknd’s After Hours (220.7 million; chart dated April 4, 2020).

Fourth-Biggest Debut by a Woman in 2021: Still Over It notches the fourth-largest debut week of 2021 by a woman. The only larger debuts in 2021 registered by women were the opening weeks of Taylor Swift’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version) (with 291,000 units; April 24 chart), Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour (295,000; June 5) and Billie Eilish’s Happier Than Ever (238,000; Aug. 14).

Pop legends ABBA earn their highest charting album ever, and first top 10, as Voyage debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The set was released on Nov. 5 and is the quartet’s first new studio album since 1982’s The Visitors.

Until this week, ABBA’s highest-charting album on the Billboard 200 was 1978’s The Album, which peaked at No. 14 on the July 22, 1978-dated chart. (The Album contains the hit single “Take a Chance on Me,” which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 Songs chart. The Album was the follow-up to Arrival, which peaked at No. 20 and includes the act’s lone No. 1 Hot 100 hit, among four top 10s, “Dancing Queen.”)

In total, Voyage marks ABBA’s 14th charting album on the Billboard 200 and seventh to reach the top 40. (Not counted among those are the two Mamma Mia! film soundtracks, which consist of covers of ABBA tunes by their respective film’s actors. Both albums found great success, with the first Mamma Mia! soundtrack hitting No. 1 in 2008 and the sequel film’s Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again! soundtrack reaching No. 3 in 2018.)

Voyage starts with 82,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Nov. 11. Of that sum, album sales comprise 78,000 (making it the top-selling album of the week and the largest sales week for an album by a group in 2021); SEA units comprise 4,000 (equaling 4.9 million on-demand streams of the set’s songs), and TEA units comprise a negligible number.

Drake’s former No. 1 Certified Lover Boy falls 2-3 on the new Billboard 200 with 62,000 equivalent album units earned (down 8%), while Ed Sheeran’s = descends 1-4 in its second week with 51,000 units (down 57%). Morgan Wallen’s chart-topping Dangerous: The Double Album dips 3-5 with 43,000 units (though up 4%) and Doja Cat’s Planet Her drops 4-6 with 37,000 units (down 6%).

Rapper Key Glock lands his highest-charting album with the No. 7 debut of Yellow Tape 2. The set, which marks his third top 10-charting effort, bows with 36,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, SEA units comprise 26,500 units (equaling 35.8 million on-demand streams of the set’s tracks), album sales comprise 9,500 and TEA units comprise a negligible figure.

Rounding out the new top 10 on the Billboard 200 are Olivia Rodrigo’s former No. 1 Sour (6-8 with 35,000 equivalent album units earned; down 2%), YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s chart-topping Sincerely, Kentrell (7-9 with 31,000 units; down 11%) and Lil Nas X’s Montero (8-10 with 27,000 units; down 9%).

ABBA Achieves Highest-Charting Album Ever on Billboard 200 With Debut of ‘Voyage’

Pop legends ABBA earn their highest charting album ever on the Billboard 200, and first top 10, as Voyage debuts at No. 2 on the chart dated Nov. 20.

Voyage also sets sail at No. 1 on both Billboard’s Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums charts.  The album’s sales were bolstered by not just nearly 40 years of anticipation, but also the availability of a range of variants of the album. While the audio contents across the editions are identical (all contain the album’s standard 10 tracks), there were eight vinyl LPs (a standard black LP, two picture discs and five additional color variants), six cassettes (a standard edition, plus five with alternative cover art) and multiple CD variants (a standard edition, two boxed sets and a number of editions with alternative cover art).

Of the album’s total sales of 78,000 for the week, physical sales comprise 60,500 (with 42,000 on CD, 17,500 on vinyl LP and 1,000 on cassette), and digital album sales comprise 17,500.

Voyage was announced on Sept. 2 and reunites all four of its members for the all-new album: Benny Anderson, Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Björn Kristian Ulvaeus. In a press release, the band stated, “We took a break in the spring of 1982 and now we’ve decided it’s time to end it … To tell the truth, the main inspiration to record again comes from our involvement in creating the strangest and most spectacular concert you could ever dream of.”

The show, titled ABBA Voyage, will open on May 27 at the ABBA Arena in London – a 3,000-seat arena built specifically for the show. ABBA will star in the concert as digital versions of themselves circa 1979, created by Industrial Light & Magic. The digital representations of ABBA were realized after, according to a press release, “weeks and months of motion-capture and performance techniques with the four band members.” Onstage, the digital versions of ABBA will be backed by a live 10-piece band.

“We’re going to be able to sit back in an audience and watch our digital selves perform our songs on a stage in a custom-built arena in London next spring,” ABBA stated. “Weird and wonderful!”

Tidal tease release of ‘deluxe’ version of Kanye West’s ‘Donda’

Tidal have hinted at the release of a deluxe version of Kanye West‘s 10th studio album ‘DONDA’.

The Twitter page for the streaming service tweeted: “Kanye West presents Donda Deluxe”, which follows the appearance of numerous billboards around Los Angeles with the same message over the weekend.

In addition, an army of Kanye look-a-likes were spotted roaming the streets of New York City on Saturday night in black pants, black bomber jackets, black baseball caps, and prosthetic masks. The rapper was spotted wearing the same mask last month during a meeting with former Donald Trump lawyer Michael Cohen.

A deluxe version of ‘DONDA’ has been rumoured for some time, with fans spotting a message on European versions of the album’s Apple Music page that appeared to verify the news. When accessed later on November 1, however, the descriptions returned to the notes that are standardised across the ‘DONDA’ pages worldwide – with no mention of a deluxe version of the album.

West – who is now legally known as Ye – recently apologised to Soulja Boy after dropping the rapper’s verse from ‘DONDA’. Other artists featured on the record include JAY-ZTravis ScottThe WeekndLil BabyKid Cudi and Pusha T. In his recent appearance on Revolt‘s Drink Champs podcast, Ye said that the reason he left Soulja’s verse off the final cut was because his verse was “trash”. A now-deleted Instagram post seemed to confirm that the pair had made up.

In the the second half of his epic 3.5-hour interview on the podcast, Ye also addressed his ongoing battles with his mental health, touching on his frustrations towards the popular narrative that he’s “crazy”.

“We all are on the spectrum somewhere,” he told the show’s hosts, referencing his diagnosis for bipolar disorder; “just only of us went to the hospital or have been diagnosed [with a disorder, or prescribed] medication”.

Rammstein’s new album will arrive ahead of their 2022 world tour

Rammstein‘s Richard Kruspe has confirmed that the band’s new album will be released before the start of their world tour in 2022.

READ MORE: Rammstein – ‘Untitled’ review

Speaking to 24 Hours World News, founding member and guitarist Kruspe discussed his other band Emigrate, who have just released their fourth studio album ‘The Persistence of Memory’. He was then asked if he could reveal anything about the new Rammstein record, to which he replied: “The album is expected to be released next year before the tour.”

Rammstein confirmed back in February of this year that they had recorded a new album during lockdown. “The fact that we couldn’t perform live increased our creativity,” keyboardist Christian Lorenz said at the time. “We had more time to think of new things and less distraction. As a result, we recorded a record that we hadn’t planned on.”

The German metal pioneers start the European leg of the tour on May 15, 2022, in Prague, before heading to Coventry’s Building Society Arena on June 26, followed by Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on June 30. The North American tour begins on August 21 in Montreal, finishing up in Mexico City on October 4. This would mean that the album is due sometime in early 2022.

In October, Rammstein premiered a song from the forthcoming new album by sharing it with French astronaut Thomas Pesquet, who was onboard the International Space Station.

The band’s drummer, Christoph Schneider, linked up with Pesquet directly from his home to share the track, which has not yet been released.

“It felt like a child’s dream coming true for me – talking to a person living in the sky, sharing a glimpse of his view, realizing again how small we all are compared to the depth of the universe,” Schneider wrote on Instagram when sharing footage of the moment.

Elsewhere, Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann announced a European solo tour for 2022. He released a solo single, ‘Ich hasse Kinder’ back in June.

The Air Jordan 1 “Bordeaux” And Yeezy 500 “Ash Grey” Are Join This Week’s Best Releases

As we come closer and closer to the end of the year, we continue to check off release after release. This week, Converse, Jordan Brand, and adidas have a lot to share, including both previously revealed GRs and newly debuted collaborations.

First, Rick Owens kicks things off with his DRKSHDW DRKSTAR Chuck 70, which better likens the classic to the beloved Ramones. On Wednesday, the Air Jordan 1 Mid and Dunk Low prefer to keep it simple, dressing up in “Grey/Green” and “Goldenrod,” respectively. Kerwin Frost is also coming out to play, flaunting the Forum Hi “Humanchive” and the Forum Lo “Benchmates.” Nike ACG retakes the stage the day after with not one but two colorways of the Mowabb: the “Limestone” and “Off Noir.”

Coming into Friday, the only collaboration of note comes from XBOX and adidas. Together, the two have colored the Forum Tech BOOST to resemble the Xbox Series X, further bridging the gaming world with sneakers. Elsewhere, Nike and Jordan are bit less interesting with the Air Jordan 1 Low “Green Toe,” the Air Force 1 “Toasty,” and the winterized Air Jordan 1 Acclimate. Finally, Saturday closes us out with our headliners: the Air Jordan 1 “Bordeaux” and the adidas Yeezy 500 “Ash Grey.”

Fans Choose TWICE’s ‘Formula of Love: O + T =

TWICE’s latest album, Formula of Love: O + T = <3, has topped this week’s new music poll.

Music fans voted in a poll published Friday (Nov. 12) on Billboard, choosing the K-pop girl group’s third album as their favorite new music release of the past week.

Formula of Love: O + T = <3 brought in nearly 59% of the vote, beating out new music by Taylor Swift (Red (Taylor’s Version)), Silk Sonic (An Evening With Silk Sonic), Beyonce, (“Be Alive”), Rosalía featuring The Weeknd (“La Fama”), and others.

The new full-length features TWICE’s No. 10-charting Global Excl. U.S. single “The Feels,” the act’s first effort entirely in English. The set also features new track “Scientist,” which sees the nine-piece telling their lovers that there’s no need for special equations or chemicals when it comes to true romance.

Released on Nov. 12, Formula of Love: O+T=<3 arrived shortly after Taste of Love: The 10th Mini Album, which dropped in June and hit No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Placing second on the past week’s tally with 23% of the vote was Swift’s just-released Red (Taylor’s Version), the second in the superstar singer-songwriter’s series of re-recorded albums. Red was originally released in 2012, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Venezuelan Musicians Pursue World’s Largest Orchestra Record

Hundreds of violins, violas and double basses sounded at Venezuela’s military academy Saturday (Nov. 13), then woodwinds, brass and percussion gradually joined in — and thousands of musicians, mostly children and adolescents, were playing with a single goal: setting the record as the world’s largest orchestra.

The musicians, all connected to the country’s network of youth orchestras, performed a roughly 10-minute Tchaikovsky piece outdoors under the watchful eyes of independent supervisors with the job of verifying that more than 8,097 instruments were playing simultaneously, which would break the current record. The country’s music network, known as “El Sistema,” had hoped to gather 12,000 musicians.

“This means that all these years that I’ve been with the orchestra were worth it, all those hours of rehearsing and all those hours of practicing, which were many,” said Angele Barraoeta, a 15,-year-old viola player who has been part of The System since she was 4 and usually plays with a regional group of about 230 people.

“So many people around you,” she added. “It’s an incredible feeling to be part of something historic. We hope to break the record.”

The Guinness World Records will determine within 10 days whether a record was set. More than 250 supervisors were each assigned a group of musicians to observe during the record attempt. For the musicians to set a record, more than 8,097 had to be tallied playing at the same time during a five-minute period of Tchaikovsky’s “Slavonic March.”

The Venezuelan arm of the accounting firm KPMG will audit the results. Managing partner Ramon Ostos said the existing record belongs to a Russian group that played that country’s national anthem.

The musicians, ranging in age between 12 and 77 and wearing black pants, white shirts and pandemic-mandated face masks, attempted the record during a patriotic, one-hour concert. The repertoire included “Venezuela” by Pablo Herrero and Jose Luis Armenteros, the South American country’s national anthem and Pedro Gutierrez’s “Alma Llanera,” which Venezuelans consider their unofficial anthem.

Each musician was given a numbered bracelet and an assigned seat based on their instrument to facilitate counting. The “Slavonic March” is part of their musical education throughout their time in the youth orchestra network. Still, they began rehearsing it with their regional groups ahead of the concert two months ago.

“If a string breaks, I don’t stop. If the partiture falls, I play by memory,” director Enluis Montes reminded the musicians, whose enthusiasm could be seen as they gently and rhythmically moved in their seats.

The rules they had to follow included not sharing instruments and being directed by a professional. That honor belonged to Andrés David Ascanio Abreu, who was projected onto huge screens so that every musician could see his directions.

“Well, it is a gigantic challenge, of course, a very complicated challenge, but full of great pride, of great passion,” Abreu said. “And today, what we are seeing here is a minimal representation of what we are: We are 1,012,000 children and young people in El Sistema.”

After finishing the “Slavonic March,” the musicians erupted in cheers while lifting their instruments and waving Venezuelan flags.

“The largest orchestra in the world,” they exclaimed.
