Suicidal Tendencies lose Instagram account for three weeks because of their band name

Suicidal Tendencies have returned to Instagram after a three-week disappearance, revealing their account had been temporarily pulled from the platform because of their band name.

“This isn’t the first time we’ve been flagged but hopefully it will be the last,” the Californian hardcore outfit wrote in their comeback post. “We’ll go into that more later, but right now we want to focus on the positive and give our beST to you all and say thanks for always STanding with us!”

Also announced in the post was a band collaboration with Dixxon Flannel Co, launching a shirt commemorating the 30th anniversary of ‘The Plague That Makes Your Booty Move… It’s The Infectious Grooves’, the 1991 debut by funk-metal supergroup Infectious Grooves (which is fronted by Suicidal Tendencies vocalist Mike Muir).

Suicidal Tendencies’ return to Instagram comes just in time for their appearance at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, where they’ll perform tomorrow (October 8) alongside the likes of Metallica, Volbeat, Rancid, Seether and the Dropkick Murphys.

Earlier this month, bassist Roberto ‘Ra’ Díaz wrapped up a lengthy US tour performing with Korn, filling in for Reginald ‘Fieldy’ Arvizu after it was announced that Fieldy would be taking an extended hiatus from performing with Korn. At the time, Fieldy cited a need to manage “bad habits” that had “caused some tension with the people around [him]”.

Back in May, Muir joined forces with members of Rancid (singer Tim Armstrong and bassist Matt Freeman) and Pennywise (guitarist Fletcher Dragge and drummer Byron McMackin) to form a new supergroup named The Crew. The outfit made their debut with the track ‘One Voice’, which was also released on vinyl to raise funds for Musack, an initiative that provides musical instruments to children and educators.

Nas shares breezy new Hit-Boy collaboration, ‘Big Nas’

Nas has shared a summery new single titled ‘Big Nas’, which he made with longtime collaborator Hit-Boy during his forthcoming MasterClass series, Nas Teaches Hip-Hop Storytelling.

READ MORE: Nas on being a hip-hop legend: “I’m rapping the same way I did when I was on the block”

Released today (October 8), ‘Big Nas’ shines with a warm, warbly synth lead, a minimalistic drum loop and subtle, glittering keys.

In the track’s first verse, Nas raps: “You can write yourself out of your blessings / Wreck your Lambo the first day just by driving too reckless / Time is too precious, these some obvious lessons / Please remind me to watch my stеp while I balance on edgеs.”

‘Big Nas’ arrives alongside a video directed by Ben Dean. It follows an enigmatic dancer through the suburbs of Brooklyn, who defies the laws of physics by walking up the side of a shipping container and eventually ascends into the skies.

Take a look at it below:

Nas Teaches Hip-Hop Storytelling will debut on Thursday October 14, with a press release promising that Nas will discuss his philosophy as a lyricist. The series will be split into 12 individual lessons.

In a new interview with Complex, Nas said he organised his MasterClass’ curriculum based on “how I would like to receive it from an artist”. He continued: “I break it down piece-by-piece, and each piece is different. Each piece gives you more of my life. A lot of it is about my life journey.”

Nas released his 13th studio album, ‘King’s Disease II’, back in August. It marked his second full-length collaboration with Hit-Boy following the first ‘King’s Disease’ record in August of 2020. It also scored a five-star review from NME, with writer Will Lavin calling it “a fresh burst of creativity”.

On the topic of a potential ‘King’s Disease III’, Nas said that he and Hit-Boy currently have no plans for such a project, but would consider it if the right idea was pitched. “If I was to work with Hit-Boy on the next thing I do, I think that we might do something that is going to be magical,” he said in a recent interview with Apple Music 1.

Nas won his first Grammy Award in March, taking home the title for Best Rap Album for ‘King’s Disease’. He also released a deluxe edition of his second album, ‘It Was Written’, in celebration of its 25th anniversary back in July.

Black Sabbath’s founding drummer Bill Ward says he’s discussed making a new album with management

Black Sabbath‘s founding drummer Bill Ward has once again expressed interest in making another album with the band.

In a recent interview with Metro, Ward not only shared his ambition to make another record with Black Sabbath – who retired as a whole in 2017 – but he’s also floated the idea with the band’s management.

“My biggest contention has been ‘let’s make another album’. Nothing live necessarily, because I’m looking at what I can realistically do,” the 73-year-old drummer said.

“The way I play the drums, it’s becoming tougher as I get older. I haven’t spoken to the guys about it, but I have talked to a couple of people in management about the possibility of making a recording. Which I can do safely, even with COVID around. I can lay tracks at my studio in Los Angeles. I’m very open-minded about doing something like that.”

According to Metro, other members Ozzy Osbourne and Tommy Iommi have also recently voiced wishes for a reunion, with the publication specifically referencing the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham – the band’s hometown.

Ward hasn’t been a part of Black Sabbath since 2012, but he’s been expressing interest to reunite the band’s original lineup from as recently as March this year.

“I’m not done with the Black Sabbath legacy,” Ward told SiriusXM. “I haven’t been done. I was made done, but I’m not done. So, the others might be done, but I’m not.

Back in 2019, Ozzy Osbourne admitted that he wishes Black Sabbath could have finished their recent farewell tour with Ward.

“I didn’t like the fact that Bill Ward wasn’t there, for a start,” Osbourne said. “People put that down to me, but it wasn’t me, honestly. We didn’t have the fucking time to hang around, we had to get going, but I’m sorry it didn’t work out with Bill.”

The girl group had first teased the upcoming album at the end of the music video for their recently released English single, ‘The Feels’. The video ended on a shot of a poster that teased TWICE’s forthcoming activities, including the then-unnamed ‘Formula Of Love: O+T=<3’ plus an upcoming tour.

TWICE rapper Chaeyoung also previously revealed in an interview that the girl group had been “recording and preparing the next album”. At the time, it was unclear if the singer had been referring to a brand-new Korean release or a potential English record, which could follow ‘The Feels’.

Meanwhile, ‘The Feels’ marked their first-ever official English single, although the group had previously released English-language tracks. In 2020, the girl group had released English versions of their singles ‘More & More’ and ‘I Can’t Stop Me’. They also dropped their first original English track ‘What You Waiting For’ as a B-side on their 2019 Japanese album ‘&Twice’.

It is currently unknown if member Jeongyeon will be involved in the making and release of ‘Formula Of Love: O+T=<3’. Since August, the singer has been on a hiatus from group activities due to symptoms of “panic and psychological anxiety”.

TWICE made their first domestic return of 2021 with their ‘Taste of Love’ mini-album on June 11. The six-track project featured title track ‘Alcohol-Free’, which was written and composed by JYP Entertainment head J.Y. Park.

Kylie Minogue is returning to Australia after 30 years in the UK

Kylie Minogue has announced she’ll be moving back to her hometown of Melbourne, after living and working in the UK for three decades.

READ MORE: Kylie at Glastonbury? Lucky, lucky, lucky us – her last UK tour was a triumph

The pop legend confirmed her homecoming in a recent interview with BBC Radio 2, telling breakfast show host Zoe Ball: “I have spent a lot of time with my family this year in Australia and it felt really good.”

She noted that she’d been talking about moving home “for a while”, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic leading her to bond strongly with her relatives. Last October, Minogue told the ABC’s 7:30 programme that she’d been missing her family throughout the pandemic, admitting to host Leigh Sales that the experience had been an “emotional rollercoaster”.

At the time, she told Sales: “Time is so weird right now – was something yesterday or was it six months ago? – but it shouldn’t be too long before I can get home. Anyway, hopefully.”

British fans needn’t fret that Minogue will neglect her second home, however, as she told the BBC: “I’ve had friends call me, my friend at my local restaurant was like: ‘Kylie, what do you mean? You can’t go’. I said: ‘I’m not really going. I’ve lived here for 30 years, I’m always going to be back.”

Elsewhere in the chat, Minogue hinted at her imminent return to touring, saying she and her team are “inching closer to being able to do something like that”.

Addressing her legion of eager fans, she continued: “Keep your disco outfit not too far away. Not at the back of the cupboard.”

Earlier this month, Minogue announced a revamped version of her latest album, 2020’s ‘Disco’, labelled the ‘Guest List Edition’. Set for release on November 12, the record sports collaborations with the likes of Dua Lipa and Jesse Ware, as well as remixes of ‘Disco’ songs from Basement Jaxx, Linslee and more.

The record’s first single, a duet with Years & Years (aka Olly Alexander) titled ‘A Second To Midnight’, was released earlier this week.

Coming as Minogue’s 15th full-length effort, ‘Disco’ was released last November via Darenote / BMG. NME gave it a four-star review upon release, with writer Nick Levine saying the record “shimmers with a warm glittery glow that’s just irresistible”.

The week after ‘Disco: Guest List Edition’ comes out, Minogue is set to reissue her eighth album, 2002’s ‘Fever’, celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Bugzy Malone goes into ‘War Mode’ on his latest single

Bugzy Malone has released a brand new track called ‘War Mode’ – you can listen to it below.

READ MORE: Bugzy Malone – ‘The Resurrection’ review: cinematic sounds and confessional rhymes

It’s the Manchester rapper’s first new music since being cleared of assault charges last month which stemmed from an incident that took place in September 2018.

Proving he’s triumphant in times of adversity, ‘War Mode’ – released via B-Somebody Records – hears Bugzy (real name Aaron Davies) showcase his resilient and robust character, declaring he’s back in the line of duty.

I’m going into war mode and that means I’ll do what the fuck I want to/ And I’m on some, I don’t give a fuck who it belongs to/ Track star, you wanna see the Lizzy that I run through/ I’m a rap star now but I’m don too,” Bugyz raps in the track’s opening lines.

The accompanying music video sees Bugzy living his life to the fullest, driving expensive cars and dining at the most expensive restaurants, while news and CCTV footage relating to his recent case is interspersed throughout.

You can watch the video for ‘War Mode’ below:

Last month, Bugzy Malone was found not guilty of unlawfully punching two men, whose jaws he broke, after his partner had told him that three men were breaking into their home in Ramsbottom, Bury, in 2018.

He told Manchester Crown Court that his then-girlfriend and his mother were in the house at the time of the incident, and that his neighbour, builder Paul Potter, had also called him to say that his home was “being done over”.

Malone’s not guilty verdict was a unanimous decision, after which he was discharged from the dock following a week long trial at Manchester Crown Court.

Last year, Malone was hospitalised after crashing his motorcycle into the side of a car in Bury, Greater Manchester.

CCTV from a nearby home showed the moment an Audi reportedly pulled out of a T-junction, with the rapper unable to stop his bike as he ploughed into the driver’s door.

Björk announces new ‘Cornucopia’ US tour dates for 2022

Björk has announced that she’ll be bringing her immersive theatrical tour ‘Cornucopia’ to Los Angeles next year for a trio of dates.

READ MORE: Björk’s ‘Cornucopia’ live in London: an audacious, expectation-disrupting spectacular from an artist unbothered with people-pleasing

‘Cornucopia’ is based on the singer’s 2017 album ‘Utopia’ and is her first official theatrical concert tour. It’s directed by Argentine filmmaker Lucrecia Martel, with designer Chiara Stevenson’s stage designed to resemble fungi.

The newly announced shows are scheduled for early 2022 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on January 26, 29 and February 1. Tickets go on sale next Friday (October 15) at 10:00am – you can get them here.

The first ‘Cornucopia’ shows came in May, 2019, with an eight-night residency at New York venue The Shed. The 19-song setlist in New York included the first time Bjork had performed her songs ‘Venus As A Boy’, ‘Hidden Place’ and ‘Show Me Forgiveness’ for over a decade.

The show features a 50-piece Icelandic ensemble The Hamrahild Choir, a seven-piece flute band, a harp and several instruments specially designed for the tour. The show also features a speech by climate activist Greta Thunberg, which is shown on a video screen before the encore. Costumes for the tour were designed by fashion chain Balmain.

In November 2019, Björk brought her ‘Cornucopia’ tour to London, with a show at The O2. In a four-star review, NME‘s Emily Mackay said: “‘Thank you for tonight, London,’ she says as she closes the post-Greta encore with a delightfully ravey version of ‘Notget’. ‘You’re my second home, I’m so grateful for the musical upbringing you gave me.’

“We in turn should be thankful for an artist wild enough to take a show this audacious to a venue in which she’ll be followed, over the next two nights, by the more straightforwardly people-pleasing performances of McFly and Little Mix. This is a time where we all need to push it, to find new ways of being: like the lady herself sings in the show’s penultimate track: “Imagine a future and be in it.”

Meanwhile, Björk has announced new dates for her livestreamed orchestral shows, following multiple delays due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Orkestral series will see the musician perform with different collaborators over each of the four dates, including members of the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, Flute Septet Viibra and Hamrahlíð Choir.

The gigs, performed at Reykjavik’s Harpa Hall to a live audience and livestreamed to fans worldwide, were first due to take place in August 2020, but have been delayed multiple times.

Madonna’s ‘Madame X’ documentary to debut in the UK tomorrow

Madonna‘s new documentary film, Madame X, will make its UK television debut tomorrow night (October 7).

READ MORE: Madonna – ‘Madame X’ review: Bold, bizarre, self-referential and unlike anything she’s ever done before

The film, which will air on MTV UK at 10:00pm, chronicles the legendary pop star’s recent ‘Madame X’ tour in support of her 14th studio album of the same name.

Directed by Ricardo Gomes, the concert film will feature an array of footage from the singer’s 2019/2020 tour, including shots of the 48 on-stage performers (including Madonna’s children as well as musicians and dancers from around the world) and the all-female Orquestra Batukadeiras.

“Sharing my vision with global audiences has been profoundly meaningful to me,” Madonna said of the documentary in a press release. “The opportunity to bring its message and the incandescent artistry of all involved to an even wider audience comes at a time when music is so deeply needed to remind us of the sacred bond of our shared humanity.”

You can watch the teaser trailer for Madame X below:

The film will be also be available to stream in the US via Paramount+ tomorrow (October 8).

Bruce Gillmer, chief content officer, music, Paramount+ said: “Madonna is undoubtedly the world’s biggest superstar, never ceasing to push boundaries and shape the pop culture landscape. She and MTV together have an incredibly storied history and we are thrilled to continue to amplify our partnership globally with the exclusive world premiere of MADAME X streaming on Paramount+ this October.”

The original ‘Madame X’ tour, which included a run of 12 nights at the London Palladium in February 2020, was created and directed by a team led by Madonna, including Jamie King as creative producer and Megan Lawson as co-director and lead choreographer.

In a five-star review of one of the ‘Madame X’ London dates, NME‘s El Hunt wrote: “For all of her dramatic personas on ‘Madame X’, tonight is largely about Madonna herself. By the end, it feels like we know her a lot better.

“It’s strange to witness the Queen of Pop in this light. As disorientating as it feels, the tension of seeing an untouchable legend letting her guard down makes this show incredibly special. It also feels like a brave move from an artist who could do just about anything. Then again, risk-taking and reinvention is what makes Madonna an icon.”

Meanwhile, She & Him have shared a previously unreleased cover of Madonna‘s ‘Holiday’ – you can listen to it here.

The duo – comprised of actor Zooey Deschanel (New Girl) and Monsters Of Folk‘s M. Ward – are set to release a 10th anniversary edition of their festive album ‘A Very She & Him Christmas’ on November 12 via Merge.

The vinyl reissue will feature a bonus 7″ record, which contains the pair’s take on the Queen Of Pop’s 1983 single as well as a cover of Wham!‘s ‘Last Christmas’ on the B-side.
