Swifties, It’s Time to Play Taylordle

Wordle (Taylor’s Version) has arrived.

The Holy Swift podcast unveiled its Taylor Swift-themed edition of the viral online game, announcing in a tweet. “Calling all Swifties who Wordle. Introducing…..TAYLORDLE.

According to the tweet, all of the words are “part of the Swiftie universe.” See the game here. (Hint: the first word has to do with a certain Nightcrawler actor and a 10-minute version of a fan-favorite song).

🚨Calling all Swifties who Wordle🚨

Introducing…..TAYLORDLE

All of the words are part of the Swiftie universe! Play now at https://t.co/rFf0IG6syj.

— Holy Swift Podcast (@holyswiftpod) January 28, 2022

The fan-hosted Holy Swift podcast features hosts Jessica Zaleski, Krista Doyle and Kelly Boyles as they “dissect the entire Swift discography, song-by-song, in meticulous detail.” Each episode looks at a different Swift song and examines/theorizes on the lyrics’ underlying meaning.

For those who have never played Wordle before, and are confused by the gray, green, and yellow square patterns people like Finneas and Jimmy Fallon are sharing to social media — the concept is actually easier than it seems.

The web-based puzzle was created software engineer Josh Wardle as a gift for his partner Palak Shah, who loves word games and crossword puzzles, according to a New York Times profile. In the game, everyone gets the same five-letter word every day and players have to guess that word in six tries or less.

Once you enter your first guess, letters that are both in the day’s word and in the correct spot will turn green, letters that are in the word but in a different spot will turn yellow, and letters not in the word will turn gray.

Play regular non-Swiftie Worldle using a mobile or desktop browser here, and Taylordle here. You have until midnight to guess each word.

First Country: New Music From Cody Johnson, Ian Munsick, Maddie & Tae & More

First Country is a compilation of the best new country songs, videos and albums that dropped this week.

Ian Munsick & Cody Johnson, “Long Live Cowgirls”

Munsick has Wyoming roots, while Johnson is a native of the Lone Star State. On this fiddle-drenched track, they team up to pay tribute to cowgirls who are “tough as December and salt of the Earth.” Boots, pearls and Chris LeDoux songs are just a few of the things cowgirls love that draw the admiration of these singers. Their rough-hewn voices blend splendidly on this track, which Munsick wrote with Aby Gutierrez and Phil O’Donnell.

Music fans can undoubtedly hear a live rendition of this track at a concert soon, as Munsick and Johnson hit the road last fall on Johnson’s headlining tour, which continues this year.

Maddie & Tae and Morgane Stapleton, “Don’t Make Her Look Dumb”

Duo Maddie & Tae join forces with singer-songwriter Morgane Stapleton as they stand up to a bad-boy lover who seems intent on breaking their friend’s heart. The song’s frank warning is in contrast to the smooth production and elegant harmonies that stand front-and-center on this track. Maddie Font and Taylor Kerr wrote the song with Barry Dean and Luke Laird, and it’s featured on Maddie & Tae’s eight-song collection Through the Madness, Vol. 1.

Tracy Lawrence, “Don’t Drink Whiskey” (Video)

In this clip, directed by Tristan Cusick, two lovers ultimately face the reality that their relationship can’t keep pace with the vastly different ambitions they have for their own lives. He’s a cowboy with his heart tethered to the land, and she’s a ballerina with dreams of performing on a larger stage. Lawrence is seen in performance shots interspersed throughout, as the cowboy drowns his sorrows at a bar.

Hannah Bethel, “Bad News Baby”

Just like cigarettes and other sorts of vices, singer-songwriter Hannah Bethel finds herself at first captivated by a new love, only to find the buzz isn’t worth the pain in the end. Bethel’s beautifully hazy voice is enhanced by a gentle melody and a smooth blend of pop-country instrumentation. “Bad News Baby” is part of Bethel’s upcoming EP Until The Sun Comes Back Around, out March 25. In addition to lead vocals, Bethel plays electric and acoustic guitar on the album.

Caitlyn Smith, “High”

In the aftermath of an ended relationship, she knows she ended things the right way, but putting emotional pull behind her isn’t easy. Smith co-wrote the track with Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Decilveo, and Cyrus previously included a rendition of the song on her album Plastic Hearts.

Here, Smith offers her own powerful, elegant take on the song, with Amanda Shires offering up a raw fiddle accompaniment.

Teddy Robb

Robb offers his own spin on the classic country truck song, as he recalls idyllic days of being a teenager riding down backroads in a Chevy 1500. Robb wrote the song with Pete Good, Brandon Ratcliff and Dave Turnbull. Robb’s laid-back vocal performance perfectly fits with song’s contemporary production. The song will be included on Robb’s How’d You Get Away With It EP, which releases in February.

Emma White, “Cowboy”

White’s brand of airy pop-country is a deft blend of her sultry, R&B-tinged vocals with sleek, sweetened production. White wrote the song with Melissa Fuller and Kate Malone, and it’s a slow-jam filled with verve and confidence

Adam Doleac, “Drinkin’ It Wrong”

Doleac has the perfect recipe for a weekend in this breezy jam, which he wrote with Cary Barlowe and Jordan Schmidt. “If that bottle ain’t cold/ You been holding it too long/ I don’t know what you been told but you’re drinkin’ it wrong,” he sings in this feel-good track. Doleac will open for Jessie James Decker’s tour, which launches in April.

Murda Beatz and Bryson Tiller Sell Catalogs to Kilometre Music Group

Kilometre Music Group has acquired the song catalogs of producer Murda Beatz and R&B singer Bryson Tiller. Both were acquired through a partnership between the Canadian music rights management company and Toronto investment firm Barometer Capital Management, Inc., which was formed to invest in catalogs and music rights of Canadian creators. Dubbed the Barometer Global Music Royalty Fund and founded in February 2021, the fund is a limited partnership with “a targeted size of $200 million USD,” according to a company statement.

Kilometre purchased Tiller’s entire writer’s share of all songs released up to the end of 2020, according to a source close to the deal. This includes his own albums, features and co-writes for other artists. Along with his popular solo albums, Tiller has made an indelible mark as a songwriter, co-authoring songs performed by Rihanna, Drake, H.E.R., Summer Walker, Chris Brown and DJ Khalid.

“Bryson Tiller is one of the most influential R&B singer-songwriters of the modern era,” says Michael McCarty, CEO of Kilometre, adding, “his catalog is the evergreen R&B soundtrack of the future.”

The Murda Beatz acquisition includes 100% of the songwriter-producer’s writer’s share on all songs released up to the end of 2019, according to a source close to the deal, including massive singles like “Butterfly Effect” by Travis Scott, “Grindin’ All My Life” by Nipsey Hussle and “Nice For What” by Drake. This includes all 42 of Murda Beatz’s collaborations with Migos, including the group’s smash hit “Motorsport.” In total, the deal encompasses 285 songs.

The acquisition extends Murda Beatz’s longstanding relationship with Kilometre president, A&R and acquisitions Rodney Murphy, who previously worked with the producer during his 17-year stint at SOCAN. “Rodney Murphy has supported me from day one,” explains Murda Beatz. “There is no company I trust more with my catalog than Kilometre.”

Murphy adds, “I have worked with Murda for over six years and have been amazed by his tireless work ethic and undeniable ability to create classic modern rap hits at a prolific rate. We are honored that Murda has trusted us with his life’s work, and we are thrilled to build this partnership with him.”

The two deals bringsKilometre’s holdings to over 900 compositions.

While the company declined to comment on the financial terms of the deals, a source close to the acquisitions tells Billboard they were both in the eight figures (USD).

Friday’s (Jan. 28) acquisition announcement arrives just a week after Murda Beatz inked a deal for global distribution with ADA Worldwide, a company owned by Warner Music Group. Murda Beatz is managed by Cory Litwin, senior vp Hallwood Media. Bryson Tiller is managed by Neil Dominique and is signed to RCA Records.

Benefits ask “where you will be when England burns” on fierce new track ‘Meat Teeth’

Benefits have shared a fierce new track titled ‘Meat Teeth’ – you can check out its accompanying video below.

READ MORE: Benefits: an instant punk battlecry against flag-shaggers (and Chris Martin)

The latest release from the Teesside punk outfit tells the tale of “overheard conversations and frustrations, underpinned by disillusionment and rage”.

Where will you be?/ Alone on your meat rack? Poundshop Balzac, where will you be?/ Up against some television piss wall, gimp faced clown in hand me downs. Plastic frowns. Where will you be?” frontman Kingsley Hall – formerly of The Chapman Family – asks as the track begins.

With powerful moments spread throughout its four minutes and 15 seconds, the track builds into a raging crescendo that hears Hall sign off screaming: “So fuck the lot. Fuck the lot. Fuck. The. Lot/ Where will you be? Where will you be?/ When England burns!

Shot by Steven Bardgett, you can check out the video for ‘Meat Teeth’ below:

Speaking about the new track, Hall said: “There’s a realisation creeping in that everything in the country is at breaking point – that we’re beyond saving, and we’re collapsing in a big heap of red, white and blue streamers, lying Etonians and food banks. People on all sides of the debate have lost all sense and reason and you can feel the aggression building around this once green and pleasant land like the raw sewage currently flowing into every river. It’s a free for all now.”

He continued: “The core of the song was pulled together when the combination of Downing Street party revelations and the sheer greed of the Christmas season started to rip through my battered soul.”

In addition to the release of ‘Meat Teeth’, Benefits have also announced some new dates for their upcoming UK headline tour.

Set to kick off in Birmingham next month, the band will now perform a number of shows in April. Starting in Sheffield on April 18, Benefits will take in venues in Hebden Bridge, Hull, Brighton, Liverpool, Middlesborough, and they’ll end the run at Rough Trade in Bristol on April 24.

“We can’t wait to get out on tour and unite people in their shared anger at the dismal state of things, all overlayed with some heavy beats, a bit of wit and noise. It’ll be oddly euphoric. This isn’t just 30 minutes of Kingsley shouting at the audience,” the band said in a statement.

Tickets are on sale now from here. You can see the full tour schedule below:

FEBRUARY 2022
21 – Birmingham, Hare and Hounds
22 – London, The Grace
23 – Manchester, The White Hotel
24 – Nottingham, Bodega
25 – York, Fulford Arms
26 – Newcastle, Head of Steam
27 – Glasgow, Hug and Pint

APRIL 2022
18 – Sheffield, Sidney and Matilda
19 – Hebden Bridge, Trades Club
20 – Hull, The New Adelphi
21 – Brighton, Green Door Store
22 – Liverpool, Kazimier Stockroom
23 – Middlesbrough, Westgarth Social Club
24 – Bristol, Rough Trade

Speaking to NME back in June, Hall said that he didn’t want Benefits’ live shows to seem “half-arsed” but rather “an explosion of power and anger”.

“We don’t have anyone editing us or telling us what to do,” Hall explained. “We’re not writing to get on radio, we’re not writing to be populist or to be liked. When all that’s off the table, we become more honest, and that’s what seems to be clicking with people. We don’t give a fuck and that’s fine.”

Benefits released a trio of singles last year: ‘Empire’, ‘We See You’ and ‘Flag’.

Topographic Detailing Appears On This Stealthy Nike Air Max 95 Ultra

Inspired by both human anatomy and nature, the Nike Air Max 95 helped the brand go beyond what was expected from a performance-running design in the mid-1990s. Throughout the last 27 years, the model has appeared in countless inline and collaborative styles, with the former category consistently nodding to the sneaker’s connection to the great outdoors.

Recently, the silhouette’s Ultra-variant – which features weatherized elements – appeared in a stealthy colorway complete with graphic detailing resembling a topographic map. The design choice isn’t new to the Air Max line, though its greyish-blue appearance on the latest Nike Sportswear proposition is novel. Synthetic reinforcement takes over the pair’s construction closest to the midsole, while mesh around the lace-loops opts for a less porous composition that further protects against the elements. Reflective accents on the rope laces delivers added functionality to Sergio Lozano’s 1995-creation. Under the proper lighting conditions and at certain angles, the visible Airbags at the midsole showcase their deep blue tint, which complements the aforementioned hue that animates topographical lines up-top. Lastly, the Air Max 95 Ultra‘s modified tread reverts to an all-black look perfect for use in muddy, wet and snowy conditions.

Enjoy official images of the pair here below, and anticipate a Nike.com launch in the coming weeks.

In related sneaker news, the Air Jordan 1 Mid has recently appeared in a handful of spring-ready styles, including a pair with neon green swooshes.

Working From Home? Here Are 6 Items to Upgrade Your Office Space

All products and services featured are independently chosen by editors. However, Billboard may receive a commission on orders placed through its retail links, and the retailer may receive certain auditable data for accounting purposes.

Working from home went from a temporary result of the pandemic to a way of life. While there’s no surefire method of knowing how long it will take for employees to permanently return to the office and students to get back in classrooms, working or distance learning from home comes with its own set of perks and challenges. To streamline the process for you, we put together a list of work-from-home essentials that will upgrade your workspace and (hopefully) make your life a tiny bit easier.

See our picks below.

Ergonomic Chair

Provided that you already have a desk (click here if you don’t), a proper office chair should be one of the most important pieces in your workroom setup. This Branch Furniture ergonomic chair is a moderately priced investment piece at just over $300. Designed in Italy, the adjustable chair provides exceptional support for different shapes and sizes. It has 3D armrests plus height, tilt and tilt tension, seat depth, a removable lumbar rest, a double-layered mesh backrest and high-density cushion that supports up to 300 pounds and eight hours of work. There’s also an option to add a mesh headrest to your order for an additional $50.

Buy: $339 at Branchfurniture.com.

Noise-Canceling Headphones

Headphones and earbuds are a necessity, especially if you have multiple people in or around your work area. Regardless of what the workday throws your way, it’s always nice to have a pair of noise-canceling headphones within arm’s reach. The Lenovo ThinkPad1 Active Noise Cancellation Headphones are a great choice at a budget price. These headphones feature 14 hours of play time and quick-charge capabilities (15 minutes of charging gets you two hours-worth of power) and comfortable earmuffs for long work sessions. If earbuds are more your speed, AirPods are on sale for $100. Other options worth considering: the Jabra Elite 75t True Wireless Earbuds ($99) and Beats Fit Pro earbuds.

Buy: $125.99 at Lenovo.com.

External Webcam

Zoom and other video conferencing apps will be the norm for the foreseeable future, so why not invest in a webcam? An external camera can help you appear clearer onscreen in comparison to a built-in camera. Although webcams can range in price from $10 to $1,000 for more advanced models, you can find a decent option for around $50. Logitech’s C920 Pro webcam is one of the best camera options in its price point. The camera features a dual mic to capture more realistic sound from a wider-angle range of angles, a 78-degree diagonal field of view to perfectly frame you and your space, adjustable autofocus and RightLight 2 technology that automatically adjusts to your lighting needs. The camera records in full HD at 1080p/30fps or 720p/30fps, and there’s a lens cover to protect your privacy when the webcam isn’t being used. And if your work space happens to be far from your router, purchase a WiFi extender to strengthen your Internet connection.

Buy: $69 at Amazon.com.

Video Conferencing Light

Ring lights and square-shape video conferencing lights can double as mood lighting for your space, and they’ll make you appear brighter onscreen. If you want an all-in-one package, try the Video Conferencing Lighting Kit from Lume Cube. The kit comes with a mini LED light with laptop monitor mount, a silicon white softening diffuser, USB adapter and charging cable. For something less pricy, check out this Selfila lighting kit.

Buy: $69.99 at Lumecube.com.

Laptop Stand

Laptop stands are designed to relieve strain on your neck, shoulders and back for a more ergonomic work experience. They also help with your posture and you can use them to raise your computer up a few inches to see the screen more clearly. The stand pictured above comes with three adjustable buttons that can raise screen height between 5 to 8 inches. The aluminum stand holds up to 8.8 pounds and is compatible with Macbooks, Lenovo, Acer, Dell, Chromebook and other laptops between 10 and 15.6 inches.

Buy: $28.99 at Amazon.com.

Desk Lamp

Studies have shown that lighting levels can affect your mood. When searching for a perfect desk lamp, be sure to note price, durability and overall function. Some lights have charging stations included so that you can power up your devices while illuminating in the room. For a no frills, budget-friendly option try the Valencia Desk Lamp by Project 62. The stylish lamp comes with an energy-efficient light bulb.

Buy: $45 at Target.com.
