At Wednesday evening’s Country Music Association Awards, Thomas Rhett welcomed a very special guest — his mom, Paige Braswell. As Thomas Rhett’s wife, Lauren Akins, is set to deliver the couple’s fourth child very soon, the country singer instead walked the CMA Awards red carpet with his mother as his date.
“My beautiful date tonight! MOM!” the country singer wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of them from the evening. He also said in a video on his Instagram Stories, “Here at the CMAs tonight and like son, like mother…just kinda doing the wine and whiskey thing here,” as they held up bottles of alcohol. “Mom, you look pretty.”
On her Instagram account, Braswell wrote, “Bring your mom to work day was soooo much fun!!! Thank you @thomasrhettakins for bringing me! #cmaawards”
Thomas Rhett was nominated for male vocalist of the year Wednesday night (the award went to Chris Stapleton) and performed his single “Country Again” during the event.
Rhett and his wife Lauren are expecting their fourth daughter, who will join Willa (6), Ada (4) and Lennon (1). Earlier this year, while performing at Billy Bob’s Texas, Rhett announced that the couple is expecting.

Tonight when I was on stage in Fort Worth about to play ‘To the Guys That Date My Girls” my wife talked to me in my (ear monitors) and said ‘You can tell them if you want’ so anyways, now you know. We are pumped to be having our 4th girl feel free to buy all the merch you want, knowing that all the proceeds are going straight to all these weddings I’ll be paying for one day!
