An aesthetic reset of sorts, the adidas Y-3 Kaiwa‘s latest colorway is neither loud nor innovative. Rather, it’s a return to basics, effectively starting the year off with a blank slate.
Unlike the silhouette’s last appearance in August of last year, which saw the shoe dressed in “Semi Frozen Yellow,” this pair features a classic “Core Black.” The neutral is applied to both the upper’s many premium materials, such as the tumbled leather, suedes, and adjacent synthetics. Along the midsole, the distended molds tonally follow suit, masking even the “Yohji Yamamoto” branding debossed atop. Noticeable deviation comes by way of the rest of the bottom and heel tab, which proffer a light cream and white finish, respectively.

In other news, the Air Jordan 4 Red Thunder also drops tomorrow.
