Sakurazaka46 launch at No. 1 on this week’s Billboard Japan Hot 100, dated Oct. 11 to 17, with its latest single called “Nagaredama.”
The J-pop girl group’s third single sold 407,334 copies to rule physical sales, while also scoring points in a balanced way across most metrics. The track comes in at No. 2 for look-ups — which counts the number of times a CD is ripped to a computer — No. 3 for downloads (8,080 units), No. 11 for Twitter mentions, No. 19 for radio airplay, and No. 29 for streaming (3,052,441 streams).
The sales figures for this single is almost the same as the group’s previous Japan Hot 100 No. 1 song “BAN,” which sold 405,360 copies in its first week. But this time, the new single made a big leap forward in streaming, exceeding 3 million first-week streams to enter the ranking for the metric, while the previous single didn’t make the top 100. In turn, the new single lagged in video views and didn’t enter the tally this time around, and the number of views also dropped slightly.
Stray Kids soared 39-2 this week with “Scars,” selling 182,405 copies in its first week. Sales have greatly improved compared to the eight-member K-pop boy band’s previous single, “TOP -Japanese ver.-,” which launched with 49,329 copies. Downloads and streaming have improved as well, indicating the band’s steadily expanding reach.
The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, audio streams, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups and karaoke data.
