Bob Vylan are supporting Biffy Clyro on their intimate ‘Fingers Crossed’ UK tour

Bob Vylan have announced they are supporting Biffy Clyro on the band’s intimate ‘Fingers Crossed’ UK tour.

READ MORE: Biffy Clyro: “We’re doing our version of ‘American Idiot’ – it’s called ‘Scottish knob!’

The London punks will join the Scottish trio for the sold out jaunt which kicks off this Friday (October 29) at Liverpool University. Further dates include London, Cambridge, Sheffield and Southampton before the tour wraps up at Bristol O2 Academy on November 4.

Taking to Twitter, Bob Vylan wrote: “We get antsy sat in the house too long so we’re back on the road this Friday, joining @BiffyClyro on their sold out tour!”

The jaunt, which was set to take place in a number of venues that Biffy haven’t played “in over 10 years”, was first announced last year and was scheduled to kick off in April 2021 but it was then postponed until October due to the coronavirus pandemic.

When the dates were originally announced, Biffy were set to showcase songs last year’s ‘A Celebration of Endings’. But they will now also debut tracks from follow up ‘The Myth Of The Happily Ever After’, which was released last week.

Speaking about the latter, the band recently told NME that COVID forced them to rewrite many of the songs they already had, creating a whole new beast. “The liberation of doing anything that you had any control over last year was a thrill in itself,” said frontman Simon Neil. “We couldn’t leave the house, we couldn’t go shopping, no one could see anyone they cared about so the only freedom we had was in these ideas and these songs.”

The album was awarded four stars by NME and was described “as a happy accident”.

It added: “What started out as leftovers from the Scottish rockers’ last record has turned out to be, ironically, perhaps their most cohesive album to date.”

Meanwhile, Bob Vylan recently shared blistering new political track ‘Pretty Songs’.

Sealed With a Kiss: Travis Barker Gets Inked With Kourtney Kardashian’s Lips

Travis Barker proved his love for fiancée Kourtney Kardashian is more than skin deep with a new tattoo of his beloved’s lips on his forearm. The reveal of the latest tat on Barker’s heavily adorned torso came after tattoo artist Scott Campbell posted an image of his handiwork with the caption, “Scorpio season. On @travisbarker … Lips straight from the mouth of @kourtneykardash Congrats you two.”

The pair of black lips sit just under another new image on Barker’s arm: a giant scorpion placed on top of some old ink. The Blink-182 drummer and in-demand session player/producer gave Campbell the thumbs-up for his work, responding with a scorpion and black heart emoji.

Barker spotlighted the lips as well in a series of photos he dubbed “scorpio season” — the veteran rocker’s astrological sign is Scorpio and his 46th birthday is coming up on Nov. 14. In the pics he’s rocking a studded leather jacket, black wool hat and a vintage Adam Ant t-shirt. It’s just his latest body art homage to his intended, following up on the design of her name above his heart, which was later joined by the phrase “I love you,” which Kourt applied herself.

The PDA-loving couple celebrated Halloween a week early over the weekend when they dressed up as ill-fated punk couple Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen. Barker wore a black leather jacket, spiky black wig and Sid’s signature padlock necklace to embody the doomed Sex Pistols bassist, while Kardashian wore a sheer fishnet shirt over a black bra with a curly blonde wig to dress up as the rocker’s equally tragic girlfriend.

Check out Barker’s new ink below.

Coldplay sell more than one million concert tickets across Europe

Coldplay‘s 2022 ‘Music Of The Spheres‘ world tour has sold more than one million tickets across Europe.

READ MORE: With Coldplay’s eco-friendly tour, music is again at the forefront of progressive ideas

The “eco-friendly jaunt”, which includes six dates at Wembley Stadium, was planned by X-Ray Touring booking agents Josh Javor and the late Steve Strange, who died last month.

The 20-date run kicks off on July 2, 2022. It will also take in US and Latin America, across 40 stadiums for dates which have completely sold out.

“This is something Steve and I have planned for a very long time and because he’s not here to revel in the success, it’s one of the most bittersweet moments of my life,” Javor told IQ.

He continues: “Don’t get me wrong, I’m ecstatic at how well it’s done but the fact that Steve, unfortunately, didn’t make it to see our plan come together brings things down to earth.

“Normally, Steve and I would get to 12 o’clock on the day of an on-sale and, after selling a million tickets, we’d be on our second bottle of champagne. But, on your own, it’s not the same. My constant thought has been, I wish Steve was here to see this.

“He would be on another planet. He was a member of the family when it came to this band and he would’ve been jumping for joy.”

Strange died at the age of 53 after a short illness in September, and Coldplay were amongst a host of bands who paid tribute to the beloved booking agent.

The band said they were “devastated by the news” of his passing and said they had spent “a bittersweet hour” with Mr Strange shortly before his death.

“Despite his illness he was still taking calls and watching ticket counts,” they wrote.

Meanwhile Chris Martin recently covered Spice Girls’ ‘2 Become 1’ with Mel C at a charity concert in LA.

During a performance in Seattle last week (October 22), Coldplay also covered Pearl Jam’s ‘Nothingman’. “So because we’re here in Seattle we wanted to pay tribute to all of the bands that we fell in love with when we were just young teenagers in the ‘90s,” Martin introduced the track.

Elton John says UK government’s treatment of arts in Brexit deal is “so fucking disgusting”

Elton John has criticised the UK government, saying they “didn’t make any provisions” for art when securing a Brexit deal, calling it “so fucking disgusting”.

The comments come after a number of leading organisations in the music industry penned an open letter to the government criticising “misleading” new claims about the status of post-Brexit touring in Europe.

READ MORE: Elton John: “I’m not interested in the past – not even Elton John’s past”

Last week (October 19), figures from the live music industry hit back at the government for another “non-announcement” of “spin and misinformation” concerning the ability for British musicians to tour on the continent.

Speaking to NME for a new Big Read cover feature around the release of his new collaborative album ‘The Lockdown Sessions’, John criticised the handling of the Brexit deal with regards to the arts, saying: “As an artist, you learn your craft by playing live. I started out going to Europe; you’re in a different culture, which makes you a little fearful, but you embrace the culture, and the culture embraces you…

“[The current situation] is OK for Ed Sheeran and me, or The Rolling Stones – people that can actually afford to do this stuff. But for younger artists, it’s a crushing thing. We’re still trying to solve this problem; it’s a slow process because the Government is a slow process.”

John added: “The Government didn’t make any provisions whatsoever for the arts during Brexit. They’re more interested in fucking fishing! Now, don’t get me wrong – fishing is very important, but it brings in £1.4billion a year and the entertainment industry brings in £111billion.

“They’re taking away young artists’ livelihood, and the way they grow as artists – because nothing makes you grow than the experience of going and playing in another place. It’s so shocking, and it’s so fucking disgusting.”

Back in August, the government ‘announced’ that “short term” visa-free travel without work permits will be allowed for musicians and performers in 19 European countries, while talks are ongoing with the remaining nations.

This led to a huge backlash from the industry, who accused the government of “spin and meaningless posturing” given that these rules were already in place pre-Brexit, while no real negotiations had been made to solve the major issues. All of this was compounded by a recent report that one in three jobs in music were lost during the pandemic.

More anger followed after another announcement, with the government claiming victory over 20 EU states after adding Romania to the list.

Earlier this month, a number of figures from the music industry spoke to NME about how new visa rules, as well as prohibitive costs and admin rules, meant that many UK artists could no longer afford to tour in Spain – cutting off one of the biggest markets for UK talent.
