On Wednesday (Oct. 27),  British singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé shared her latest single, “Look What You’ve Done,” via Chrysalis Records.

The garage-inspired track is the first self-produced track in the singer’s career, the influence of U.K. breakstep evident as Sandé croons, “Still every time you touch me, I don’t know what to say.” This track is the second release of the year for Sandé, who describes this new chapter of her career as an era of “rebirth” that sees her freed from external expectations.

“‘Look What You’ve Done’ marks a big milestone for me. It’s my first release that I have produced and it feels so good to have my full creative fingerprint on it,” Emeli shared in a statement. “I first wrote this song in Switzerland, sat at my piano staring out at a gorgeous lake surrounded by beautiful snow-tipped mountains. The song is about the complete surrender we experience when falling in love and explores the euphoria which accompanies that loss of control in both mind and body. I hope it makes people fall in love, dream and, of course, dance.”

“Look What You’ve Done” follows her previous single “Family,” released earlier this summer. In the anthemic “Family,” Sandé ebulliently sings of her resilience and gratitude for creative freedom. Sandé’s new music displays this range of freedom not just as a songwriter, producer and vocalist but in terms of personal triumphs that she describes as “a new beginning on many levels.”
