Ariana Grande Was Mortified When Jimmy Fallon Aired a Clip of Her First Gig: Watch

Ariana Grande is everywhere right now. She’s in the charts, all over social media, she’s a coach on social media. And now, she’s set to fulfil a dream, starring as Glinda in the cinematic version of the Broadway hit Wicked.

Grande was all over late-night TV on Thursday (Nov. 4), when she Zoomed in for a chat on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

On this occasion, witchy stuff wasn’t a topic of conversation. Instead, Ari looked ahead to her next venture, Adam McKay’s film Don’t Look Up (“it was cool” to be a part of it) while Fallon took us for a trip back in time to the “thank u, next” singer’s very first gig.

Thanks to Ari’s mom, we got a glimpse of the-then eight-year-old singing the national anthem at a Florida Panthers hockey game.

On seeing the clip, Grande’s response was a mix of shock and horror.

The pop superstar also walked viewers through her experience as a coach on The Voice. Those contestants she selects and mentors, they’re like her kids. “I’m their stage mother,” she said.

Grande and Fallon will team up once again for the first episode of the talk-show host’s spin-off “That’s My Jam,” airing Monday, Nov. 29, at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.

‘Holy Toledo!’ begins with a stripped-back verse, with frontman Billie Joe Armstrong expressing his desire to visit “where the trouble begins“. The song then transforms into an energetic, pop-punk-infused number.

We’re hell raisers/ Death wish cravers/ We’re running with razor blades/ Party favours/ Sex with strangers/ We don’t care what the neighbours say,” sings Armstrong in the chorus.

Announcing the single, Green Day wrote: “Damn right we’re tearing it up tonight.” Tune in here:

‘Holy Toledo!’ features on the soundtrack to Mark, Mary & Some Other People, the new rom-com from Hannah Marks. The film arrives in cinemas and on streaming in the US today.

Green Day recently shared a 1994 performance of their classic single ‘Basket Case’ from their forthcoming ‘BBC Sessions’ album. Set to arrive on December 10, the collection comprises all of the band’s Maida Vale sessions from across their career (1994 to 2001).

Armstrong and co. last month released the second part of a limited edition 7″ vinyl, which is available exclusively to subscribers to their coffee company, Oakland Coffee Works.

Green Day recently wrapped up the North American leg of their ‘Hella Mega Tour’ with Fall Out Boy and Weezer. Rescheduled UK dates are yet to be confirmed.

Coldplay and BTS’ ‘My Universe’ Gets the Galantis Remix Treatment: Listen

New cuts of Coldplay keep coming, with the release of a new live EP, a remix and a forthcoming concert film.

First up, Swedish electronic duo Galantis work their magic on “My Universe,” Coldplay’s latest collaboration with BTS.

“My Universe” was already a smash before Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklöw jumped on board. The single hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the sixth Hot 100 No. 1 for BTS in two years, and Coldplay’s second chart-topping entry after 2008’s “Viva La Vida.”

“Putting the Galantis spin on this track was a thrill,” says Karlsson in a statement, “and an absolute bucket list moment working on music with these two legendary bands.”

But wait, there’s more. Following Coldplay’s venue-opening concert last month at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena, the British pop-rock outfit unlocks a four-track recording from the night.

Live From Climate Pledge Arena is an exclusive to Amazon Music, and features “Viva La Vida” and the classic “Fix You” alongside two songs from their new LP, Music Of The Spheres.

The full concert film streamed live to more than a million viewers worldwide via Amazon Music, Prime Video and Twitch, and will release to Prime Video on Nov. 12.

Following its arrival last month, Music Of The Spheres rolled to the top of sales charts around the globe. In the U.K., Spheres barreled to No. 1 with more than 100,000 first-week combined sales, for the band’s ninth consecutive chart-leading studio set, an unbroken streak that stretches back to 2000’s Parachutes. In the U.S., Spheres debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Chris Martin and Co. will support their latest effort with a full-scale stadium tour, scheduled to kick off at Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica on March 18, 2022.

BTS and Coldplay unveil new remix of ‘My Universe’ with Galantis

Coldplay and BTS have teamed up Galantis on a new remix of their collaboration single ‘My Universe’.

READ MORE: Coldplay and BTS’ new song ‘My Universe’ is a celestial ode to unity, hope and the power of love

Earlier today (November 5), the British rock band unveiled the latest version of the hit track on their official YouTube channel, this time remixed by Swedish electronic dance production duo Galantis.

‘My Universe (Galantis Remix)’ introduces a more upbeat and energetic instrumental to the song, turning into a more dance-heavy track.

‘My Universe’ was first unveiled on September 24, and is part of Coldplay’s latest album, ’Music of the Spheres’. The song had debuted at the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 upon its release.

The two artists had also shared a 13-minute documentary on the process behind their collaboration, where they had bonded over their shared experiences of being unable to perform during the pandemic. “Chris said that this is a very personal song to him,” shared BTS’ leader RM. “A part of him is frustrated by the fact that Coldplay can’t play live, in a concert.”

Last month, BTS’ rapper Suga shared his own rework of the track. “I’m thrilled to be able to work together with Coldplay, who I’ve admired since I was a kid, and honoured to be a part of this remix,” he said in a statement.

In other BTS news, fans of the boyband have threatened to boycott their label, HYBE, over its plans to launch Non-fungible tokens (NFTs), with many citing the potential negative impact the digital asset has on the environment.

BTS fans (also know as ARMY) also noted how the company’s NFT plans could be seen as contradictory to the boyband’s recent speech at the UN, where they described climate change as “an important problem”.

Listen to Lorde’s two new tracks, ‘Hold No Grudge’ and ‘Helen of Troy’

Lorde has released two new tracks, ‘Hold No Grudge’ and ‘Helen of Troy’, as part of the deluxe version of her latest album, ‘Solar Power’.

READ MORE: Lorde: “I feel like I can see my world and myself a lot clearer now”

Both tracks were announced earlier this week in an email to the singer’s fans, described as “black sheep” but still “big tunes” despite not making the cut. ‘Hold No Grudge’ features a quicker beat than many of the tracks on ‘Solar Power’, while ‘Helen of Troy’ blends in with its filtered guitars and layered harmonies.

Listen to both tracks below:

‘Hold No Grudge’ was described by Lorde as “a sort of composite portrait of when relationships turn sour, being trapped in the ice but remembering the warmth”. As for ‘Helen of Troy’, she described it as “just me talking trash to make Jack [Antonoff] laugh”.

“We wrote it super quickly in the tiniest room at Westlake where we did a bunch of [‘Melodrama’] and it was fun the whole time,” she said. “It’s super off the cuff lyrically, almost ad-libbed, and you can hear me starting to figure out some album themes.”

NME gave ‘Solar Power’ five stars upon its release in August, writing that the follow-up to 2017’s ‘Melodrama’ “continues her winning streak, as she blazes a trail through the pop landscape with a beautiful paean to nature”.

Earlier this week, Lorde released the music video for album track ‘Fallen Fruit’, which incorporated footage of the same beach seen in previous visuals, but with a darker twist.
