Megan Thee Stallion celebrates Women’s History Month with Kamala Harris

Megan Thee Stallion has shared photos of her celebrating Women’s History Month at a brunch with US Vice President Kamala Harris.

The brunch was co-hosted by Glamour and welcomed other trailblazing women like Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, actress Nicole Ari Parker, and more.

Meeting in Washington D.C., Megan shared a photo of the duo posing for a selfie in her Instagram carousel, showing the rapper sticking her tongue out whilst the Vice President smiles into the camera.

Other highlights from the post include a picture of some latte art saying “Women’s History Month” and Megan twirling around in a black and blue calf-length dress.

The mission of the event was to discuss economic empowerment of women with Harris telling attendees: “Economic empowerment of women is about an investment in the future of our country.”

She said, “When you lift up the economic status of women, you lift up the economic status of families and communities, and all of the society benefits.”

The Houston rapper has been mostly inactive on social media this year amidst the recent trial that found Tory Lanez guilty of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. The verdict was the result of a July 2020 incident involving Megan being shot in her feet.

She recently made her return to the public eye at this year’s Vanity Fair Oscars after party and will perform at the AT&T Block Party in her hometown on March 31. Her performance at the festival will be her first of the year.

In recent news, Cardi B has shut down rumours that she and Thee Stallion will be the main actors in a B.A.P.S remake on her behalf.

Also, Megan is set to appear at the Outside Lands festival at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Kendrick Lamar, Foo Fighters, WILLOW and more are featured on the line-up.

The Japanese House returns with new single ‘BOYHOOD’

The Japanese House has returned today (March 20) with a new single – listen to ‘BOYHOOD’ below.

READ MORE: The Japanese House – ‘Chewing Cotton Wool EP’ review: Bon Iver appears on lush and radio-ready collection

The singer-songwriter, real name Amber Bain, initially teased her return last month, posting a photo of herself on Instagram with the caption ‘News coming soon’ and directing fans to sign up to her mailing list.

The Japanese House last released new music in 2020 in the form of the EP ‘Chewing Cotton Wool’. Her only studio album so far, ‘Good At Falling’, came out the year prior.

New single ‘BOYHOOD’ is an ode to the complexities of gender and sexuality, with gentle electronic beats and guitar plucks providing a backdrop for Bain’s soft and harmonious vocals.

The accompanying video shows Bain watching a projection of herself from a bed, as one of a pair horseback riding through lush green fields.

Speaking of the visuals, she said: “When Katie and I were young and in love, we fantasised about riding off into the distance on her horse Bam Bam, away from all the problems that came from being gay and in love back then.

“This song talks about how sometimes, however hard you try, you can’t help but be a product of the things that happened to you or held you back earlier on in life. But also, and more importantly, it’s about hope for overcoming those things. Look at us now: not riding away, but towards… something.”

She continued: “This horse was very lovely to us, but I think deep down Bam Bam was the horse we were riding all along, and wherever I’m recklessly galloping off to in my life, Katie will be riding bareback behind me like a lunatic, arms around me, like we’d always planned. Rip Bam Bam xxx”

The Japanese House is set to make an appearance at The 1975‘s biggest ever UK headline show at London’s Finsbury Park, with a capacity of over 40,000, on July 2. Cigarettes After SexBleachers, and American Football will also be playing, with “many more” still to be announced. Find any remaining tickets here.

The Nicole McLaughlin x Vault By Vans Slip-On Is Designed For The Garden

Over the course of the last few years, Nicole McLaughlin — a multi-disciplinary artist with expertise in upcycling — has gone on to do progressively bigger things, even receiving a collaboration from the very brand she interned with early in her career. And now, for 2023, McLaughlin is stepping away from Reebok and joining Anaheim’s own Vault By Vans, who has helped the talent in producing her own vision for the Slip-On.

Much like many of her personal works, the Nicole McLaughlin x Vans Slip-On is designed with utility in mind, complete with details that make it perfect for gardening. Ostensibly dubbed the “Gardening Tote” — as is written along the tongue just underneath McLaughlin’s “n.m.” branding — the shoe features a series of compartments across its toe box, allowing one to store shears or even miniature shovels and rakes. What’s more, the model is easily taken on-the-go, as the heel strap can be attached to one’s bag via a carabiner.

The Nicole McLaughlin x Vans Slip-On is expected to release very soon. As we await further details, from release dates to news of the collaboration’s second colorway — sit tight and enjoy a look at the ecru and green pair ahead.

In other news, a Gucci Vans Collection was also revealed this month.

Ice Spice Throwback Photos Surface On Twitter, Give Glimpse Into Bronx Baddie’s Humble Past

Because she rose to fame at such a rapid rate, little is known about the early life of Ice Spice. She was born Isis Naija Gaston on the first day of the year 2000. While many simply love her for making bad bitch bops like “Bikini Bottom” and “In Ha Mood,” others have been dying to know more about her past, and what led her to become one of the Bronx’s most prominent rising drill artists. Thankfully, internet sleuths have been able to unearth old photos of Spice, showing just how much change has taken place since her low-key childhood in New York.

We’ve already seen some of the 23-year-old’s high school yearbook photos (which markedly had users drawing comparisons to Lauren London), as well as images of her on the volleyball court. Prior to blowing up thanks to “Munch (Feelin’ U),” Spice was a talented athlete who played for both Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers and the State University of New York at Purchase. While she’s left those skills behind in favour of pursuing rap, she recently said that her initial dream was acting. This is something the Spice Cabinet hopes she still chases, especially now that she’s well-known within the industry.

As XXL notes, this past weekend saw even more old photos of the Like..? artist surfacing on social media. Among them were candids snapped of her applying mascara in the mirror, throwing up peace signs while goofing off with friends, and letting her naturally brunette curls blow in the breeze while posing for photos outside. Apart from the childhood snapshots, Twitter user @icesmood also included more recent content of Spice before fame, which finds her sporting platinum blonde hair and putting her rap skills on display.

“And ending off with the ‘Thriller’ of our generation,” they previously wrote atop the thread’s final part, including a video of the rap diva twerking her behind in a cutout-clad two-piece black suit. The footage comes from the visual for “No Clarity,” which was produced by RIOTUSA and released in November 2021. Keep scrolling to see Ice Spice’s recently resurfaced throwback photos, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.

Odell Beckham Jr. Responds To Reports About Wanting $20 Million Per Year

Odell Beckham Jr. used to be one of the best receivers in the entire NFL. Now, however, he is coming off of a season in which he didn’t get to play. Overall, this was due to an ACL injury that he sustained in the Super Bowl. However, OBJ did try to get back on the field this year. He tried out with a plethora of teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, and New York Giants. Subsequently, none of these teams signed him as there was this sense that he wasn’t ready to come back.

More recently, OBJ was able to host a workout where numerous teams could come and take a look at him. According to reports, about a dozen teams made the trip. However, since that time, there are no indications that a team is ready to sign him. Moreover, no one even knows who would want OBJ at this point. It also doesn’t help that there is this feeling that Odell Beckham Jr. wants to receive $20 million per year. This is simply too much money, and no team would ever pay that for a guy who has gone through two ACL tears.

Odell Beckham Jr. Sets The Record Straight

I’m just so confused where the quote is from me tht said I want 20…..all I’m sayin is 4 AINT enough

— Odell Beckham Jr (@obj) March 18, 2023

In a recent tweet, however, OBJ tried to set the record straight on all of these “reports.” As you can see above, Beckham Jr. is making it clear that he doesn’t need $20 million, although whatever is being offered right now is definitely not sufficient. “I’m just so confused where the quote is from me tht said I want 20,” OBJ said. “All I’m sayin is 4 AINT enough.” Unfortunately for Odell, he doesn’t have much leverage right now.

As a wide receiver who hasn’t played in a full year, teams do not want to take the risk. Moreover, there are so many great wide receivers in the league that the market has already been set. There is simply very little margin for Odell to find himself in a position to get paid. Hopefully, for Odell, a team decides to take a chance on him, sooner rather than later. Let us know where you think OBJ should go, in the comments below.

Chlöe Bailey Drops “In Pieces” Tracklist Ft. Future, Missy Elliott & More

Over the past two years, Chlöe Bailey’s readied fans for a new chapter in her career with her solo debut album, In Pieces. Though she emerged into the music industry as a teenager, her forthcoming project will showcase her growth into a woman. It’s as evident as the singles she’s released for the project. The anthemic “Have Mercy,” produced by Murda Beatz, showcased her embracing her sexuality openly. Then, she dropped joints like the Chris Brown-assisted “How Does It Feel” that showcased a more romantic aspect of her artistry.

All in all, she has range and that seems to be exactly what we’ll be getting next Friday. On Monday (March 20th), she shared the official tracklist for the project, which boasts fourteen songs in total. The aforementioned Chris Brown collaboration will appear at #7, while other features include Missy Elliott and Future. The former appears on “Told Ya” and the latter on the aptly titled, “Cheatback.” The carefully curated features strongly suggest that In Pieces will provide fans with a glimpse into Chlöe’s life that we’ve yet to see in the past.

Chlöe Bailey Explains “In Pieces” Inspiration

IN PIECES TRACKLIST 3.31.23 pic.twitter.com/7CXavcVO0Q

— Chlöe (@ChloeBailey) March 20, 2023

Last week, Chlöe Bailey dropped the official cover art for In Pieces, which was inspired by a picture of a doll holding its heart. She explained that the cover itself represents an incredibly difficult time in her life. “But now after healing, doing self-work and shedding this skin of false perfection, I find the beauty in pain,” she explained. Chlöe Bailey added, “IN PIECES  is for the ones like me who wear their outer shell so well that you’d have no idea what they’re going through. I hope this project brings healing to those who listen, as it’s been completely therapeutic for me…”

The new album couldn’t come at a better time. Chlöe is fresh off of a performance at SXSW this weekend but prior to that, she appeared in the highly anticipated series, Swarm on Amazon Prime. Chlöe takes on the role of Marissa Jackson, the older sister of Dre (played by Dominique Fishback). However, it was her opening scene with Damson Idris that left people’s jaws dropped on the floor. With In Pieces due out on Friday, we’re sure that people will have way more to talk about than her appearance in Swarm. Check the tracklist for Chlöe Bailey’s In Pieces above. The album drops on March 31st.

Drake Sings Argentina’s World Cup Song At Lollapalooza

Drake went viral recently for signing Argentina’s unofficial World Cup song during his Lollapalooza Argentina performance. Moreover, it’s not surprising to see the 6 God show some love to last year’s victors. After all, he bet on the team’s victory, although he lost because they didn’t win within 90 minutes as he anticipated. Still, he riled up the jubilant crowd and only had to sing the first word of the track “Muchachos” for them to follow along. For those curious, the track is fully titled “Muchachos, ahora nos volvimos a ilusionar” and is by La Mosca Tse-Tse.

In the social media clip, the Canadian superstar is wrapping up one of his songs, addressing the crowd. “By the way, that was probably like one of the best moments of my career,” he remarked. “Thank you. I feel like I really made it.” Then, they begin screams of “Argentina!” that quickly ramp up. At that moment, Drizzy leads the crowd into the song that carried them through the legendary soccer- sorry, fútbol tournament to victory. Furthermore, the song is specifically dedicated to some of the nation’s greatest players, like Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, and Gabriel Batistuta.

Drake Sings Argentina’s Unofficial World Cup Song

Unfortunately, the “Nice For What” rapper faced some stronger controversy and criticism for his performance. According to both Latin American news sources and festival-goer testimonies, Drake came out 15 minutes late for his set. Not only that, but he reportedly blocked the performance’s livestream (which was allegedly agreed on) just minutes before taking the stage. Such a decision goes against the standard of live-streaming Lollapalooza performances. Also, he reportedly only played for 40 minutes, well below the standard headliner slot of about an hour and a half.

In fact, the 36-year-old dealt with a lot of pushback for his live appearances recently. The most salient example of that has more to do with logistics, as people are outraged at the insane ticket prices for his tour with 21 Savage. Despite all that, it’s Drake we’re talking about, and it’s probably beyond his control. With that in mind, maybe his appreciation of Argentina’s people, greatness, and culture goes beyond festival mishaps. But that’s not for us to decide. Regardless, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Drake.

Joe Budden Talks Slaughterhouse, Rory & Mal, Charlamagne Beef On ‘Drink Champs’

It’s time for another captivating episode of Drink Champs, and Joe Budden is comfortable in the hot seat. The rapper-turned-podcast giant knows what it’s like to be on both sides of the interviewing fence. So, when he sat with Noreaga and DJ EFN, he didn’t have a problem addressing controversial topics. The Joe Budden Podcast is a regular fixture on the ‘going viral’ news circuit, and Nore didn’t waste any time. We’ll have to wait a little longer for the entire conversation to hit streaming services, but the teaser is enough to get Hip Hop fans’ tongues wagging.

Drink Champs dropped off the teaser to Budden’s appearance, and it’s shaping to be a must-watch. Noreaga was excited for the sit down with the “Petty King” and asked Budden about his relationship with Charlamagne Tha God. “Nothing,” he said about The Breakfast Club host with a smile. “We just hate each other.” He also spoke on someone who wanted to produce him, but Budden admitted he isn’t easy to work with. He says he is “difficult to produce” because he knows his way around a studio setup.

Joe Budden Hit With Hard Questions

Budden’s tension with former podcast co-hosts Rory Farrell and Jamil “Mal” Clay was also discussed during the conversation. In 2021, the pair exited The Joe Budden Podcast bitterly and detailed their fallout with their longtime friend. N.O.R.E. questioned the “Pump It Up” hitmaker about where they all stand now, but we’ll have to wait for his full answer. It also looks like he’ll tackle all those Slaughterhouse questions, as well, so fans are waiting to hear what Budden reveals about his former collaborators…and Eminem. “I’ll take the blame. I’ll take it. I ruined everything. Everything that you love, I ruined that sh*t,” said Budden. Noreaga quickly joked, “I believe you.”

Elsewhere, Budden touched on the requests for him to return to the mic. “Nah, I think there’s a lot of people that either want to hear me rap or want to tear me down when I start rapping,” he said. Further, he addressed critics who have called him “mean” over his remarks. He denied being a cruel person but said he did “want people to continue to think that.” Check out the teaser above and let us know if you’ll be tuning in.
