Bella Hadid has not publicly commented about the current dispute between Zayn Malik and her mother Yolanda — grandmother to Malik and sister Gigi’s 1-year-old daughter, Khai — but the model has made a notable change to her followers list on Instagram.
On Friday (Oct. 29), the 25-year-old model removed Malik from her list of follows amid allegations that Malik shoved her mother during an argument. Bella and Gigi’s younger brother, Anwar, has also unfollowed the singer on Instagram. Gigi and Malik continue to follow each other on the social media platform for the time being, though People reported the pair broke up shortly after the dispute.
According to a police report obtained by Billboard from the Solesbury, Pennsylvania Police Department, Malik was charged with four counts of harassment. According to documents, Malik pleaded no contest to the charges, which is the equivalent of a guilty plea that does not admit guilt. As a result, Malik agreed to serve 360 days of probation as well as complete anger management and domestic violence programs.
Following the original report, Malik posted an official statement to his Twitter about the accusations and shared that his primary concern at the moment is protecting his daughter Khai.
“As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in,” he tweeted. “A place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart. In an effort to protect that space for her I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago. This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press. I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”
Yolanda has not made a statement on the matter — Billboard reached out to a representative for the Hadid matriarch on Thursday (Oct. 28) for comment. A rep for Gigi told E!, “Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time.”
