The cult-like fascination with the Johnny Depp v. Amber Heard case has taken a new turn now that a verdict has been rendered. Both Depp and Heard sued one another for defamation after making public allegations that they were abusive to each other. Depp filed a $50 million lawsuit against his ex-wife after she wrote an op-ed piece about him for The Washington Post, detailing allegations of violence. Heard countersued the Pirates of the Caribbean actor and it seems that a jury sided with both parties, albeit Depp has taken home a larger monetary judgment.

Depp was awarded $15 million while Heard received $2 million, and this verdict has caused an uproar on the internet. Although this has been a case fraught with allegations of domestic violence and sexual abuse, the public has reacted as if this were a season of its favorite television show.

Following the news of the jury’s ruling, controversial political commentator Candace Owens took to her Instagram Story to fire off a message about the #MeToo movement.

“Congratulations to Johnny Depp for being the first man in recent history to win against a toxic, lying, mentally unstable female who used the #MeToo movement to advance her career,” she wrote. “Also, congratulations to every woman in the world who never bent to the #MeToo peer pressure campaign, and always acknowledged that yes, women lie too.”

“So congratulations to me!! For being right again. Even though it was popular to believe Amber Heard in the beginning, and I was attacked for refusing to.  Women lie. Men lie. Facts do not. Believe facts.”

Through his time in the industry, there have been plenty of people who have had issues with No Jumper‘s Adam22. He’s commented on controversial moments in Hip Hop and pop culture on not only his podcast but others, as well, and it has often caused backlash from those being mentioned. Adam’s confrontation with Dame Dash has been well-documented with the two men even coming together for a face-to-face discussion. This time, however, it isn’t Dame who has taken issue with Adam, but one of the “Island Boys” rappers who is apparently upset by something Adam said on a podcast.

It looks like FlyySoulja slid into Adam’s DMs and the two engaged in a heated exchange. “Don’t talk about me if you don’t got nothing nice to say,” the Florida rapper told Adam. “And you said I’m clueless.”

“Have you seen how I’m built I actually work out go to the gym you know?” Flyy continued. Adam seemed confused. “Huh,” he said. “1) I will whoop the dog sh*t out of you and make you look like a child and 2) what I say.”

Then, FlyySoulja sent a voice message to which Adam replied, “You gotta be kidding me. You ain’t made enough cameo money to fight me [crying laughing emojis] you gotta fight house phone [crying laughing emojis].” After FlySoulja continued to send voice messages, Adam let him know he wouldn’t be listening to any of them.

Their relationship came to a screeching halt in 2018, but for 11 years, Cassie and Diddy were one of Hip Hop’s most (seemingly) stable relationships. The Bad Boy mogul and the songbird were photographed together on red carpets around the world and she had even been signed to his label, but the pair surprised fans when they announced that their romance had ended. By the conclusion of that year, Cassie shared that she moved on with Alex Fine, and by 2019, the new couple was expecting their first child.

Now married to Fine with two young children, Cassie has obviously moved on with her life, but her time with Diddy was once again revisited by the Rap icon’s “friend,” Gina Huynh. The apparent on-again-off-again situationship involving Diddy and Gina resurfaced following her spat with Yung Miami, and now Gina tells TheJasmineBrand that she cheated with Diddy while he was with Cassie.

Gina began by saying that she always told herself that she would never “mess with a guy with a girlfriend,” but after meeting Diddy, “he was so charming.”

“I just kinda fell for it,” she added. “I was young, naive about it. Didn’t know no better. It was enticing. It was very tempting to like—and it was also hard not to. And, um, I do feel bad, though. You know? ‘Cause I’m a girly girl, I’m for the girls, I’m woman empowerment and I want to stand for that. I apologized to her afterwards.”

The losses that Bobby Brown has suffered have been insurmountable, from his ex-wife Whitney Houston to his two children, Bobbi Kristina and Bobby Brown Jr. The R&B legend’s life has been riddled with tragedies, addiction problems, and health issues, and he has been detailing every little step in his two-part docuseries, Biography: Bobby Brown. The New Edition icon has been candid about how he has coped with losing so many members of his family and for his documentary, he revealed that he almost lost his life after nearly drinking himself to death.

“Losing my daughter hurt me to my core,” he said in the series. “Children are not supposed to go before their parents and I lost my baby girl. I started drinking a lot.”

“My drinking had gotten to a point where my bodily functions were starting to quit on my body. I had two heart attacks. I had two stents in my heart,” Brown added. It was then that he decided to turn his life around and seek help. “I chose to check in and get help for it again. I went to detox and got myself together. I am not normal. I’m an alcoholic. It is an everyday fight for sobriety. I am in prayer and therapy.”

Brown says he regularly attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and has a sponsor who guides him through his ongoing sobriety. “After everything, I can only be proud of myself on a daily basis, because I struggle and work hard to make my kids see me in a better light than I see myself. Family has always been a major part of my life. That is the only way I get by. Family are my biggest support system. I feel all loved. It keeps me afloat.”

There are several celebrity-centered cases grabbing attention these days, and just when you thought you wouldn’t hear about this one again for a while, Billboard has offered an update. It was months ago that a court awarded Cardi B a $4 million judgment in the defamation case against blogger Tasha K, and as promised, the YouTuber has launched her appeal in hopes of having the decision overturned. It is unclear if Tasha K has yet to remove her false reports about Cardi as she was reportedly ordered.

Billboard reported that the paperwork alleged that during the trial, the judge wouldn’t allow “key evidence” about Cardi and her “character” to be introduced, thus not allowing the jury to get a full scope of the rapper.

During the trial, the judge reportedly didn’t allow certain pieces of evidence brought to light because it “might be prejudicial against Cardi,” reported Billboard. However, Tasha K’s team believes that was a misstep, although they did not specify what could have shifted the tide in their favor.

“The jury heard a very lopsided presentation of evidence and, because they did not get to learn who the plaintiff truly is, the jury returned a general verdict for the Plaintiff, against both Defendants,” the court documents reportedly stated. The lawyers also argued that there was nothing to prove that Tasha K’s reports about Cardi—that she cheated on her husband Offset, had a sexually transmitted disease, and took to stages performing sex acts with beer bottles, just to name a few—were done in “actual malice.”

Cardi B’s attorney reportedly didn’t respond to a request to comment, but they will certainly answer when they file in the coming days.

There was a scene at a Los Angeles gas station earlier today (June 1) when filmmaker and activist Tariq Nasheed stopped by. The Los Angeles Police Department has a longstanding reputation for its officers’ unethical behaviors, and they were on patrol when Nasheed saw them at the station. There was a Black man standing near the entrance of the location’s market while several officers surrounded him from a distance. 

It looked as if there was an officer running the plates on a luxury vehicle parked at one of the pumps and on his way inside, Nasheed asked the man if he was okay. The stranger said yes as Nasheed remarked that the LAPD came out with “a lot of manpower” for one person.

Nasheed shared the clip on his Instagram page because he didn’t realize until after the fact that the man who was being detained was “Panda” hitmaker Desiigner.

“I was driving down the street here in #LA , and I saw the #LAPD surrounding this random brotha at a gas station,” he wrote in the caption. “The cops had their hands on their gun holsters, so I pulled over and walked over to the brotha to make sure he was ok. From what I gathered, the cops were following the brotha because he happened to be in a nice car.”

Meanwhile, TMZ offered details regarding what went down. According to the outlet, Desiigner was out and about when officers pulled him over “for driving without plates and tinted windows.” Once he was pulled over, the LAPD told TMZ that Desiigner exited his vehicle and approached the motorbike cop that stopped him. 

Things apparently took a turn when a shouting match ensued and the rapper called at least one of the officers a “racist b*tch.” A police officer threatened Desiigner by saying he could tow his car but the rapper didn’t mind, retorting, “I got money all f*cking day!

Just days after the tragic news regarding the death of Arizona Cardinals star Jeff Gladney, the NFL has suffered yet another loss. Gladney reportedly died alongside his girlfriend during a car accident, however, it is unclear how Dallas Cowboys standout Marion Barber passed away. It has been widely reported that the former running back, who was drafted by the Cowboys in 2005, was found unresponsive at his home. 

Details remain scarce at the moment, but NBC-DFW 5 News reported that “police describe the investigation as an unattended death.”

Authorities in San Francisco reported that they received a call “about a welfare concern” this afternoon (June 1) and upon arrival, they located the 38-year-old philanthropist. Barber was known as an active member of his community and was recognized for the humanitarian work he executed through his organization, the Barber Foundation.

“We are heartbroken by the tragic death of Marion Barber III. Marion was an old-school, hard-nosed football player who ran with the will to win every down,” the Dallas Cowboys shared in a statement. “He had a passion for the game and love for his coaches and teammates. Our hearts go out to Marion’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

Billy Clark told reporters that he may have been Barber’s attorney, but they were much more. “For me. he was literally family and I’m so lost that I’m not prepared for this,” said Clark. A cause of death has yet to be shared. We offer our sincerest condolences to Marion Barber’s loved ones at this time.

A teen rapper on the rise was gunned down in Washington, D.C. last week and now, his family has stepped forward with messages about gun violence. Justin Johnson, 16, was developing a name for himself within his city and he had aspirations of being the next rapper to take over the charts. However, it has been reported that his dreams were cut short last week after he became a fatal victim of the violence plaguing many youths on city streets. 

Last year, Johnson, known as 23 Rackz, dropped his Rookie of the Year project and even signed a record deal with a label, but his father, Michael Johnson, reportedly told FOX 5 News, “Nobody could get him to stay off the streets.“

“It takes a lot to get a kid out of that setting,” he added, admitting that he didn’t have much knowledge about his son’s developing rap career. 

“I heard a rap, one of his raps for the first time the other day,” Mr. Johnson said. “I didn’t even want to listen to it because I wanted him to go to school. He said, ‘I got one foot in and one foot out,’ in one of these raps, and, ‘I don’t know what to do.’ ‘Cause they were saying, ‘Justin come with us,’ his managers and them, ‘Come with us, you’ve got to put that behind you.’ But he said no, no. I’m better off right here.”

“I’d go to work, and he’d be gone when I come home. So we had a relationship of me trying to get him off the streets and him thinking, once he got money off his hands, he was gone,” he added. “And as far as guns on the street, he had been arrested one time for a gun, but D.C. won’t hold those kids. I begged the judges, P.O., keep him. Just keep him. But the next day, he was home. It’s so easy for these kids to get guns, it really is.”

The rapper’s older sister, Jamesa Hall, is not only grieved about the loss of her brother, but with the remarks she has been seeing online.

“It’s hard to see on social media that you know, he’s really gone and I see a lot of comments on social media saying like, ‘Oh well he was in the streets at 16 and he didn’t go to school, and this and that.’ He was an honor roll student,” said Hall. “They skipped him a grade. Like he was street smart and book smart. He was well before his time.”

She added, “A lot of people have different perceptions of him, but at the end of the day, with us at home, he was just a regular 16-year-old. It was never 23 Rackz in the house.”

According to the teen’s manager, he was trying to move 23 Rackz to Georgia to further his career, but because the rapper was fashioned with an ankle monitor due to a previous infraction, they were unable to change locations. Another of Gucci Mane’s artists has learned his fate after being sentenced. Back in 2018, Ralo was arrested on charges related to criminal conspiracy and drug trafficking. Prosecutors alleged that Ralo was apart of an criminal organization called Famerica and helped the group traffic nearly $2 million worth of marijuana from Georgia to California. Ralo was arrested in 2018 and has been jailed since that time, but back in March, he surfaced on Instagram with a promising update.

“I won’t be home until October 2023, but I made sure I bought my momma a new house, bought my n*ggas some new apartments, building my artist a new studio, and I’m buying everybody around me new cars as soon as I land next year,” he said.

However, it was reported today (June 1) that the 2023 mark may not happen, but his team is hopeful.

“The Judge sentenced Ralo to 8 years in Federal Prison, he was given over 4 years credit time served,” a post on Instagram read. “The BOP has also credited him 1 & 1/2 year for good time. He was recommended 1 year ankle monitor after the halfway house approve his home address; which will bring him home to us late next year, but our goal is for him to complete his GED or RDAP Drug program so we can get another year off his sentence.”

After a certain someone tried to publicly humiliate her on the internet, Keyshia Cole has returned an uplifting message about persevering. The beloved R&B singer has been carefully planning out her final album, and as her global fanbase awaits more information about that release, Cole has continued to collaborate with her peers. Former NFL star Antonio Brown shared his Paradigm project, and on the album, Cole was featured on a track titled “Don’t Leave.”

There were rumors about flirtations between the two and of course, gossipers spread stories about Cole and Brown possibly dating. She even expressed that she missed him “a lot,” however, Brown made disrespectful posts about Cole online, including uploading a video where he told the singer, “We don’t want you!“

The internet stood by Cole’s side and a few hours ago, she shared a gorgeous selfie with a message about steering clear of negative people—and while she didn’t even hint at anything being related to Brown, several social media users revisited the teachable moment.

“I will never understand how some people will go out of their way to hurt you, Or make u feel some type of way, out of spite,” she wrote. “Some people really AREN’T GOOD PEOPLE. I ain’t tripping. Just neva forgetting … forever take notes. I think it’s best not to let these people taint you… gotta be a cold world they living in. Especially when they KNO all the things you’ve gone though.
