The Nike ZoomX VaporFly NEXT% 2 Gets A Flashy Two-Toned Sole

Although the majority of races across the globe have undergone some sort of Covid-19-related protocol, runners have continued to train on their own. The Nike ZoomX VaporFly NEXT% 2 has been a go-to choice for some of these athletes, with bold colorways allowing them to make statements in more ways than one.

While likely to be replaced with a third iteration by the end of 2022, the ZoomX-cushioned silhouette has recently appeared in a new arrangement that suggests it still has some life left. All black takes over much of the upper, with swoosh-branding introducing a light grey into the mix. The pair’s highlight, however, is the sole unit due to the vibrant purple and “Infrared”-reminiscent tones that divvy up the tried-and-proven performance foam. Logos on the outsole work in-tandem with the rubber compound towards the ball of the foot to “tame” the Nike ZoomX VaporFly‘s boldness.

Enjoy official images of the pair here below, and expect a Nike.com launch soon.

Travis Barker & Kourtney Kardashian Join Families for a Festive Christmas Eve Celebration

Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian brought their families together for a special celebration on Christmas Eve.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star took to Instagram on Thursday (Dec. 30) to share some festive holiday photos with her fiancé Barker and their kids. “‘Twas the night before Christmas,” she captioned the stylish snapshots.

Sporting a slick all-black outfit, the Blink-182 drummer is seen standing alongside his son Landon Asher, 18, daughter Alabama Luella, 16, and stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya, 22, from his former marriage to Shanna Moakler. Meanwhile, Kardashian stuns in a sheer red dress while lounging by her 9-year-old daughter Penelope Scotland.

Barker romantically wrote to his wife-to-be in the comments, “Everyday is Christmas with all of you.”

Kourtney also shared pictures by the Christmas tree with her sisters Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian and Kendall Jenner, along with some snaps of her sitting on Santa’s lap.

In October, the Blink-182 drummer and eldest Kardashian sister got engaged in an intimate beachside proposal planned out by the rocker in Montecito, Calif. Since then, he’s collaborated with Avril Lavigne on her latest single “Bite Me.” The artists are scheduled to perform on Friday night (Dec. 31) during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2022.

Disney’s Bambi Continues adidas Partnership With A Spotted Stan Smith

Nearly the full roster of Disney animated characters made their way onto the Stan Smith in 2021, and it appears as if this broad partnership is headed into 2022 with one of the eldest characters in the line-up. Pictured here is the classic Stan Smith model in a basic white leather, but the spotted tongue label and heel-tab are set to represent Bambi, the fawn destined for a high position in the forest. Of course the film is hardly the cutesy fairytale that we commonly associated with animated films, because the movie deals with one of the gut-wrenching deaths in cinema history.

Moving back to the shoes, the Stan Smith will come housed in a shoebox made with recycled packaging, with a hit of mauve no the uppermost eyelet. Custom insoles that mimic the now-defunct cell drawings further commemorate this collaborative affair. This release, set to drop in January 2022, opens the doors to other characters of the Bambi universe, including Thumper, getting their own footwear. See the official images ahead and look for these to his adidas.com in the first month of the new year.

Pussy Riot’s Nadezhda Tolokonnikova Labeled as ‘Foreign Agent’ by Russian Authorities

Russian authorities on Thursday (Dec. 30) designated a member of the Pussy Riot punk group, a satirist and an art collector as “foreign agents,” part of efforts to stifle dissent.

The Justice Ministry applied the label to Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, a Pussy Riot member who became widely known for taking part in a 2012 protest inside Moscow’s Christ the Savior Cathedral after which she spent nearly two years in prison.

Journalist and satirist Viktor Shenderovich and art collector Marat Gelman were also handed the label along with several other people.

The “foreign agent” label implies additional government scrutiny and carries strong pejorative connotations that can discredit recipients. Russian authorities have applied the designation to scores of media outlets, civil society groups and individuals, ratcheting up pressure on those who are critical of the Kremlin.

Those designated as “foreign agents” are required to add a lengthy statement to news reports, social media posts and other materials specifying that the content was created by a “foreign agent.”

Earlier this week, Russia’s court on Tuesday shut the country’s oldest and most prominent human rights group, Memorial, citing its failure to identify itself as a “foreign agent.”

Tolokonnikova tweeted that she wouldn’t abide by the requirement to mark her posts with the “foreign agent” designation. She said she would challenge the authorities’ decision in court, concluding: “Russia will be free.”

Foo Fighters’ horror film ‘Studio 666’ is “absolutely insane” says Dave Grohl

Dave Grohl has shared a few new details about Foo Fighters‘ upcoming new comedy horror film Studio 666.

READ MORE: Foo Fighters: “Our connection is beyond music”

The film, which is due for release next year, was first previewed earlier this month when the band shared a short clip of the BJ McDonnell-directed feature.

According to a press release, Studio 666 will follow Foo Fighters as they move into a mansion in Encino, California that is “steeped in grisly rock and roll history” to record a new album. Once they’ve arrived, though, Grohl “finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band”.

The film will see the full band – Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee – star alongside Whitney Cummings, Leslie Grossman, Jenna Ortega and more.

Speaking in a new interview, Grohl has discussed the making of the film and said “it really, really will blow your mind”.

“There’s no other band stupid enough to do this. It’s absolutely insane,” Grohl told MOJO (via Classic Rock). “A couple of scenes, they’re so fucking epic, dude. Just when you think we couldn’t come up with anything more ridiculous…It really, really will blow your mind.”

While the Foos are keeping the plot of the film firmly under wraps at the moment, Grohl revealed a little about the studio’s fictional supernatural inhabitants, Dream Window. “The singer went nuts” he said, “and murdered his whole band over creative differences.”

Studio 666 was close to being finished in early 2020, but like many films the coronavirus pandemic halted production. “We had filmed most of the movie” Grohl revealed. “All we had to film was basically the few ending scenes. Then months and months went by. We would have meetings to talk about how we could possibly finish this movie with all the new restrictions and compliance.

“‘How are we going to fucking pull this off?’ So we came up with a plan. And those six days of shooting turning into about three weeks because of all the new regulations that really slow things down.

“We were one of the first productions in Los Angeles back after the COVID thing. We did it safely and we actually pulled it off.”

Grohl added that the band were inspired to push forward with production after seeing a finalised trailer for the film. “We watched that trailer and we were like ‘Holy fucking shit,” explained Grohl. “I mean, honestly, talk about far beyond anyone’s expectations… It’s a movie movie. We all were just like, ‘Oh my god, let’s finish this’”.

When the film was first announced, Grohl said in a statement: “After decades of ridiculous music videos and numerous music documentaries under our collective belts, it was finally time to take it to the next level… A full-length feature horror-comedy film. Like most things Foo, STUDIO 666 began with a far fetched idea that blossomed into something bigger than we ever imagined possible.

“Filmed at the same house where we recorded our latest album ‘Medicine at Midnight’ (told you that place was haunted!), we wanted to recapture the classic magic that all of our favourite rock and roll movies had, but with a twist: hilarious gore that fucking ROCKS. And now, with the help of Tom Ortenberg and the team at Open Road Films we can finally let this cat out of the bag after keeping it our best kept secret for two years. Be ready to laugh, scream, and headbang in your popcorn. STUDIO 666 will fuck you up.”

Meanwhile, Foo Fighters have made their recent concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden available to watch in full for free – you can watch it here.

‘Mickey Mouse Club’ star Tiffini Hale has died aged 46

Tiffini Hale, one of the original castmembers on The All New Mickey Mouse Club and member of the Disney-created pop group The Party, has died aged 46.

According to an Instagram post signed by her bandmates and Disney Channel co-stars, the singer and actor “suffered a cardiac arrest that resulted in her being left in a coma. After many prayers and with her family by her side, our dearest Tiff took her last breath Christmas morning. She is now resting peacefully”.

“Her beauty, talent, style and fun loving spirit will forever live in our hearts and memories,” the statement added.

Hale spent three years on The All New Mickey Mouse Club, from its relaunch in 1989, after being chosen from over 10,000 auditions. She was then hand-picked to become a member of The Party, alongside fellow Micky Mouse Club stars Deedee Magno, Chase Hampton, Jeune Pierre and Damon Pampolina.

The Party were the first group signed to Disney’s Hollywood Records and went on to release two studio albums and three compilations. Their biggest hit was a cover of the Dokken’s ‘In My Dreams’ which peaked at 34 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Party disbanded in 1993 before reuniting in 2013 without Hale.

In 1994, Hale returned to The All New Mickey Mouse Club to co-host the final season of the show which also featured Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling and Christina Aguilera. After the cancelation of the show, Hale took a step back from public life, instead choosing to spend time with her sister and mother in California.

Sharing a tribute, Chase Hampton wrote: “Part of her magic was that she never knew how incredible she truly was. She was humble, she was thoughtful and kind. She was playful and so funny. An incredible singer, character & dramatic actress , and when the music hit her dancing skills to me we’re unmatched by any female pop star since! She was an absolutely amazing performer & I’m so so honored to of had her in my life.”

Following the sad news, fans have been paying tribute to Tiffini Hale on social media.

When I was a teenager, someone I truly admired was @ThePartyIsNow‘s Tiffini Hale. I wanted to dance like her, dress like her, BE her. It breaks my heart that she’s gone now NOT fair. Such a talented young woman deserved more.
You’ll always be the best dancer for me, Tiffini https://t.co/b4vn3s2FVf

I’m devastated by the news of Tiffini Hale’s untimely passing on Christmas morning. WT actual F, Universe? I’m gutted. Tiffini wasn’t just a gorgeous 90s pop goddess, she was SO f**king nice; the kind of nice you rarely experience with other people. Truly, she was a tonic. pic.twitter.com/tk7G4DslpS

We lost a friend on Christmas Day. Tiffini Hale was one of our original group of Mouseketeers on the Disney Channel MICKEY MOUSE CLUB. She was a sweet and talented girl with a smile for everyone. Tiffini Hale had style, spirit & smarts. She was a gifted performer on The New Mickey Mouse Club (The MMC) & in her work in The Party. Her lead songs from those Party albums inspired many a (poor) solo from me, singing into my hairbrush. She’s gone far too soon. #RIPTiffiniHale https://t.co/NsjVzL5ifM

More sad news for 2021. Tiffini Hale was a huge role model to me during the 90s. “I’m trying to be that woman, the independent lady who depends on no one.” You taught a lot of us, Tiff. RIP pic.twitter.com/LjzDGtlEpR

The Jordan 6 Rings Gets An Early Start On Valentine’s Day

It’s been a little while since we last saw the Jordan 6 Rings. Though it released frequently throughout the past Summer, the silhouette gradually faded into the background so that the brand’s Fall/Winter line-up could shine. But now with another year upon us, more colorways are finally beginning to surface, including this Valentine’s Day reminiscent pair.

A bright pink is used for the brunt of the upper, dressing everything from the leather profile to the strap, hardware, and webbing. The topmost eyelet, though, tints a louder Infrared, matching the tongue’s chenille patch, the lace lock’s Jumpman logo, and the detailing across the pull tab. As for the lining and midsole, the two lean ground the palette with black and white neutrals, respectively.

Enjoy a closer look via the official images below. Sit tight as we await their release via Nike.com and select retailers.

Denis O’Dell, British Producer Who Worked on Beatles Films, Dies at 98

Denis O’Dell, a British film producer and director who worked with The Beatles on the movie A Hard Day’s Night and other productions, has died at his home in Spain, his son said Friday (Dec. 31). He was 98.

Arran O’Dell told The Associated Press that his father died overnight at his house in Almería, in southeast Spain. He said the family planned a local private service and a memorial service at a later date in the United Kingdom.

Denis O’Dell was an associate producer of A Hard Day’s Night, the Fab Four’s first film, and How I Won the War, in which John Lennon appeared as a supporting actor.

He produced the 1967 Beatles film Magical Mystery Tour, as well as The Magic Christian, which featured Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr.

O’Dell’s memoir of his time with the Fab Four came out in 2003 and was called At the Apple’s Core: The Beatles from the Inside.

Ariana Grande improvised ‘Don’t Look Up’’s apocalyptic pop anthem

Don’t Look Up’s writer and director Adam McKay has revealed Ariana Grande “certainly did improvise” the apocalyptic anthem she sang during the film.

READ MORE: ‘Don’t Look Up’ review: searing satire with a worthy message

The film, which was released earlier this month on Netflix, stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence as scientists trying to warn the world about a comet the size of Mount Everest that will wipe out all life on Earth.

Starring alongside Jonah Hill, Cate Blanchett and Meryl Streep in the satire is Grande, who plays pop star Riley Bina, alongside Kid Cudi, whose DJ Chello is her on-again off-again boyfriend.

In one of the standout scenes in the film, Grande and Cudi perform at a benefit concert, hoping to raise awareness about the impending apocalypse.

The track, ‘Just Look Up’ is every bit the powerhouse pop anthem we’ve come to expect from Grande, but features lyrics such as: “Listen to the goddamn qualified scientists/ We really fucked it up, fucked it up this time”.

Speaking about use of improv comedy throughout Don’t Look Up, McKay said: “The rule I always say is, let’s get the written version because we’ve then fulfilled the legal obligation of our contract. Then once you have it, you’re free.”

He then went on to confirm that “Ariana Grande most certainly did improvise. Her best improv was when she sang the song for the first time.”

“She’s the one who added all that stuff about, ‘We’re all gonna die. Turn off that shitbox news’. That was her riffing on the first scratch track of the melody line, and the second I heard it, I was like, ‘Oh, that’s going in the movie.’

McKay went on to say that the scene “might be one of my favourite moments in the movie, where you have pretty much the biggest pop star in the world singing beautifully, ‘We’re all gonna die.’ Every time I see it, it’s just this hilarious cognitive dissonance with it. So, Ariana Grande can definitely improvise.”

In a four-star review of Don’t Look UpNME wrote: “McKay’s political satire isn’t always subtle – one scene shows Streep’s leader whipping up a rally in a MAGA-style baseball cap – but it does feel horribly convincing.

“Though Don’t Look Up loses some momentum towards the end of its 138-minute runtime, it still succeeds as both a raucous comedy and a grim cautionary tale. By the end, McKay has definitely driven home his message that Earth is ours for the saving.”

Jadakiss says being healthy is a key aspect of the “gangsta” lifestyle

Jadakiss (aka Jason Phillips) has vouched for the power of a healthy diet and exercise, saying that in his professional opinion – as a key player in New York’s mid-to-late ‘90s rap scene – “being healthy is gangsta”.

Phillips made his views clear in a new episode of the Facebook Watch series The Pull Up, telling host Hassan Yasin – founder of Bartendaz, an “open, worldwide community as well as a social movement, which is built upon the basic callisthenics routines” – that working out is a key part of his daily routine.

“I think healthy is gangsta,” Phillips told Yasin. “Everybody want to be tough guys and this and that – rich – [but] if you not healthy, you can’t be alive to spend your money. If you not healthy, you can’t enjoy the party, you can’t enjoy the perks of life. You won’t be here to see your kids graduate, to see ’em score they first touchdown, to see things like that. So health is more important than anything.”

The rapper noted that although he hasn’t fully ditched the extravagant partying synonymous with hip-hop, he has embraced more of a “balanced lifestyle”, has helped immensely with his ability to perform live. “It actually makes you feel good,” he asserted. “It actually helps out with being onstage now – your breath control is better, you can rock a plethora of songs without having to tell the DJ to stop it.”

Have a look at Jadakiss’ full episode of The Pull Up below:

Phillips’ fifth solo album as Jadakiss, ‘Ignatius’, landed last March via D-Block/Roc Nation/Def Jam. Though it marked his weakest effort on the charts, peaking at Number 31 on the Billboard 200, the record earned critical acclaim and spurred two successful singles, ‘Me’ and Kisses To The Sky’ (featuring Rick Ross and Emanny).

November saw him drop two collaborative singles, linking up with Snoop Dogg, Benny The Butcher and Busta Rhymes for the former’s ‘Algorithm’ cut ‘Murder Music’, and with Freddy Gibbs for the explosive ‘Black Illuminati’. The latter track came as Phillips’ third collaboration with Gibbs, having previously teamed up for ‘Krazy’ – taken from Gibbs’ 2012 mixtape ‘Baby Face Killa’ – and 360’s ‘Own Thing (Remix)’.

Quavo reportedly being sued by limo driver for alleged assault

Quavo is reportedly being sued by Las Vegas-based limousine driver, who alleges that the Migos rapper and his entourage violently assaulted him back in July.

READ MORE: The NME Big Read – Migos: “We show up with the goods and prove you wrong”

According to documents seen by TMZ, the complainant – whose name has not been revealed at the time of writing – was allegedly hired by Migos to drive him and his crew from a local club to the Virgin Hotel. However when the driver accidentally drove off without one of the members of Migos’ party, it’s alleged he was assaulted with a bottle and told to “shut the fuck up”.

The situation only escalated from there, it’s alleged, with the driver repeatedly punched and kicked by “as many as five” of the passengers. The driver alleges further that although the Virgin Hotel’s staff and security witnessed the incident, they opted to flee inside rather than help. He claims that as a result, he suffered both physical and mental injuries, as well as “disfigurement”.

TMZ reports that the driver is seeking unspecified damages from Quavo, Migos Touring and the Virgin Hotel. NME has reached out to representatives of Quavo and the Virgin Hotel for comment.

Earlier this year, Quavo was investigated by police over a leaked video that reportedly showed the rapper getting into an altercation with his former partner, Saweetie (aka Diamonté Harper). He denied that he “physically abused”  Harper, saying: “We had an unfortunate situation almost a year ago that we both learned and moved on from.”

Despite his recent legal troubles, Quavo has kept active with the release of Migos’ recent fourth album, ‘Culture III’, as well as his joint single with Bobby Shmurda and Rowdy Rebel, ‘Shmoney’. He also released two of his own singles this year: ‘Blame’ in May and ‘Strub Tha Ground’ (with Yung Miami) in October.

Quavo confirmed in June that he was working with Pop Smoke before the latter’s death, and still plans to release the tracks they collaborated on.
